Chapter 115 115

Chapter 115 115
LYKA

The demon inside him had always been cold, cruel, calculating. But Derrick himself… he was no different when anger took over. An ice prince, through and through.
And right now, I couldn’t tell which one of them was speaking.
“I’m sure you’re having a hard time figuring that out,” he said suddenly.
My eyes widened. Can he read my mind?
“You should think less, my love,” he added, his voice softening... but in a way that only made it more unsettling. “With our mate bond now, you’re going to give yourself away.”
Before I could react, he moved.
In one swift motion, he pulled me closer and lifted me onto his lap as he sat up. The sudden proximity stole the air from my lungs, my body going rigid for a brief second.
“Oh…” was all I managed to say, my voice barely above a whisper.
My mind had gone blank.
“Now,” he said, his gaze never leaving mine, “no lies. No calculations. Tell me what really happened that day.”
This was it.
The moment I had been dreading.
I hesitated, my heart pounding against my chest so loudly I was sure he could hear it.
But there was no escaping this.
“Actually…” I began slowly, choosing my words carefully. “That day… you were weak.”
His eyes narrowed slightly, but he didn’t interrupt.
“Delinda was scared,” I continued, my voice softening. “She thought we were going to lose you. And we needed to get him out of you…”
I paused, my chest tightening.
“But we couldn’t,” I admitted. “Not in that state. You were too weak.”
Silence.
Heavy. Suffocating silence.
“So…?” he prompted, his voice dangerously quiet.
I exhaled shakily.
“We didn’t do it,” I muttered.
His expression shifted to confusion.
“What do you mean?” he asked.
I pouted slightly, frustrated that I had to explain it further.
“I asked Delinda not to use the sword on you,” I said. “Because you were weak, and... ”
“What?!”
His roar cut through my words like a blade.
The sheer force of it made me flinch.
“You mean to tell me,” he growled, his eyes blazing with fury, “that you didn’t get him out of me?!”
Panic surged through me.
I couldn’t let him spiral like this.
“No!” I shouted, my voice rising instinctively. “I chose you! I chose for you to live!”
The words hung in the air between us, heavy with meaning.
He stared at me, his expression unreadable.
“So,” he said slowly, his voice dropping to a dangerous whisper, “you decided to put yourself in danger… because of me?”
His gaze darkened, something fierce and unsettling flickering within it.
I sighed, my shoulders slumping slightly.
“And did you think I wanted that?” I shot back, frustration creeping into my tone. “You would have died if we used the sword that day! I couldn’t lose you, Derrick… I don’t think your pack... ”
He hissed sharply, cutting me off.
“Are you saying,” he snapped, “that you don’t mind me digging my claws into your heart?”
The words hit me like a slap.
“What?” I asked, stunned. “Are you saying you’re going to kill me?”
He scoffed, shaking his head.
“No,” he said coldly. “Not me.”
A chill ran down my spine.
“Him.”
My breath caught.
“That fool you decided not to get rid of,” he continued, his voice cracking slightly despite his attempt to stay composed. “He’s going to come for you.”
And in that moment, I understood. This wasn’t just anger. This was fear. Real, raw fear.
“We’re not going to let that happen,” I said quickly, reaching out slightly. “We’ll find a way. We’ll make sure it doesn’t... ”
“You’ll make sure?” he interrupted, disbelief evident in his tone. “How?”
His eyes bored into mine.
“Can you beat me?”
The question crushed whatever confidence I had left.
My lips parted, but no words came out.
Because the truth was…
I couldn’t.
I couldn’t even overpower him in his calmest state. So how could I possibly stand against him when the demon took over?
“Derrick…” I started weakly.
But he was already moving.
He stood abruptly, setting me aside as though I weighed nothing, and strode toward the door.
Panic surged through me.
“I’m going to make sure everything will be okay!” I called after him, my voice trembling but firm. “So I need you to trust me… the same way I trust you!”
For a moment, I thought he might stop.
That he might turn around.
But he didn’t. The door opened.
And then...
He was gone.
The silence he left behind was deafening.
I sank back onto the bed, my chest tight, my thoughts spiraling out of control.
What am I going to do now?
