Chapter 271 271

Chapter 271 271
MAD

I never thought our performance would be such a hit that it would entertain everyone. But as much as I wanted to have more fun, our dance number had come to an end.
Tara threw her bouquet, and I expected nothing less, even if Olive didn’t participate. It dramatically fell into her hands. Obviously, Lynx had to have the garter or else someone would be in trouble.
After bidding goodbye to everyone, we made our grand exit. I had the McLaren 570s Spyder convertible ready.
“Enjoy your honeymoon.” Mom was more emotional than everyone, as if we were going to spend a year away.
The King and Queen met us one more time before we went out the door.
“Have fun.” The queen kissed her daughter. “Don’t think about work. Be with your husband, and don’t call anyone.
“Thank you, Mom,” she said shyly as if those words were a pressure to her.
The Queen then came to me next. “Take care of my baby. She’s the future of Serevia, Madden.”
“I will, Your Majesty.”
“Do you realize you are now the Duke of Guillaume?”
I smiled, nodding. “How can I forget? Tara kept reminding me every day, two weeks before the wedding, Your Majesty.”
As we reached our car with golden window decals, Just Married, a fresh bouquet, and ribbons, I opened the door for my wife.
It hadn’t sunk in yet that I just got married to the most amazing woman who accepted my past and my flaws. She looked effortlessly gorgeous in her gown.
Sometimes, I wondered what she saw in me and what made her fall in love with me.
I got into her car and waved at everyone before we drove away.
Of course, as the crown princess, we couldn’t get away alone. Our personal details were a part of the package deal. We still had two black SUVs following us.
It didn’t matter to me. Before we met, I already had a bodyguard, but Tara was a different story— she was a royal, the next in line to the throne.
“Wait.” She looked at me.
“Did you forget something?” I briefly looked at her. She was the most beautiful bride I’ve ever seen. Her hair was blowing in the wind. I couldn’t help but trace my thumb on her cheek. “Beautiful.”
“You’re driving.” She stared at me in disbelief.
“Yeah. I know how to drive.”
“I know that, babe, but it’s okay if you don’t want to.”
“I drove—” I swallowed hard. “I was behind the wheel in Mexico, and drove twice last night. I had to fight my fear when you were in danger. Anyway, it’s over now, and I feel fine driving. I’m not terrified or having flashbacks whatsoever.” I took her hand and brought it to my lips. “Wife.”
“Yeah, it’s over now.” She chuckled, looking at her wedding ring. “Husband. God, we’re married.”
“Yes. We’re married, baby. I kept pinching myself earlier. I’m still finding it hard to believe that the woman I kissed in the powder room and called me commitmentphobic is already my wife.”
“Wow. You won’t let it go, do you?”
I laughed. “No. Never. I will tell it to our children, our grandchildren, and they will tell it to their next generations.”
She sighed. “I never thought I would be this happy. When I arrived in New York, I was so lost and lonely. I was alone. I don’t know anyone, except the Ambassador, but of course, I didn’t want him to get in trouble. I also avoided contacting anyone. I barely had money. Oh, God.”
“What is it?”
She laughed. “I completely forgot the Reginalt necklace in my safe deposit box. I don’t know how Alessia found that out. That’s one thing she used to blackmail me. She said, it’s worth 50 million dollars.”
I chuckled. “And you just kept it in the safe deposit box.”
“Because it wasn’t mine. It didn’t know how it passed customs. I used it at my wedding, and I just found it in my bag. Someone must have put it in there.”
“Maybe Valentine.”
“Anyway, the Vanderford heirloom is safe at home.”
“It’s yours. Keep it. One day, it will be worn by our girls.”
We finally arrived at the private airstrip where my private jet was ready and waiting.
“Wow.” She stood up in the car, staring at the jet with the same decal, Just Marrie,d in pink and a red carpet rolled on the ground. “The singing and dance weren’t enough, and then this. You’re full of grand gestures, huh?”
“The performance was Olive’s idea, but I’m only getting married once. So, I thought I would make it memorable for us. Well, I don’t mind marrying you every year.”
“You’re insane.”
“I’m proud to be married to you. I’m proud to be your husband. The world has to see it, too. Once we arrive at our destination, it can be removed anytime.”
I got out of the car, sprinting to her side. I opened the door, and before she could step out, I scooped her, making her yelp.
“You won’t walk to the jet.” I carried her bridal style. “Wife.”
She laughed, wrapping her arm around my shoulder. “If you say so, Madden.”
I carried her up on the jet. “Watch your head.”
“I hope you didn’t decorate your jet and put rose petals on the floor.”
“God, I miss that part,” I joked as I put her down in the chair. While we were still alone, I cupped her face and kissed her lips. “I love you, and I’m grateful you’re a part of my life, Tara.”
She looked right into my eyes, happiness flickering in those blue orbs. “I love you, too.” She touched my face, and I couldn’t help but close my eyes, lean into her hand, and kiss her palm. I was glad I didn’t get bruises on my face last night.
Our details entered the jet, went to the back, including Sylvian’s temporary replacement.
