Chapter 68
"Charlotte."
Hearing the somewhat hurried footsteps behind her, a flash of annoyance crossed Charlotte's eyes. "Mr. Forbes, is there something else?"
Seeing Charlotte's deliberate distant attitude, the eagerness in Alexander's heart instantly cooled.
He licked his lips, suppressing his irritation. "If you run into any problems in life from now on, you can always come back to me."
Hearing this, and looking at her ex-husband who was now putting on such a sincere act, Charlotte suddenly felt like laughing.
They'd already signed the divorce papers, and only now did he suddenly remember to care about her?
What about when he deliberately froze her supplementary card to embarrass her in public?
"Thanks, but it's better if we don't keep in touch from now on. Let's just not bother each other anymore."
Alexander's face flushed slightly red. He never expected that Charlotte would say something like this.
He ground his teeth. "Charlotte, don't speak too soon."
"You should know that without the Forbes Family, you're nothing."
Looking at him, Charlotte smiled slightly. "Is that so? Well, don't trouble yourself worrying about it."
With that, she turned and left without looking back.
Watching her figure gradually disappear into the distance, Alexander couldn't hold back anymore and punched the wall beside him hard.
Charlotte would definitely regret this!
She would definitely come back begging him!
In the distance, Charlotte had already flagged down a taxi and left without looking back.
However, from start to finish, she never noticed that someone had been watching her from around the corner.
It wasn't until the taxi disappeared that Philip couldn't hold back anymore. "Dad, Charlotte's gone. Can we go too?"
Landon's gaze was still fixed on the direction where the taxi had disappeared, and he only answered Philip absentmindedly, "Okay, let's go home now."
After speaking, he reluctantly withdrew his gaze and glanced at Philip. "If you're tired, sleep for a bit. I'll wake you up when we get home."
Philip obediently responded and then leaned back in his car seat and closed his eyes.
Through the rearview mirror, watching Philip fall asleep in less than two minutes, a thoughtful expression appeared on Landon's face...
This morning at eight o'clock, before the marriage registration office staff had even started work, he had already arrived with Philip.
Before coming, he had even planned that if Alexander dared to stand them up again, he would go straight to the Forbes Group and drag Alexander there, even if he had to tie him up!
Fortunately, everything went smoothly. They finally got divorced.
Now all he needed to do was wait, just one more month.
Back at Prime Estate, Landon was in an exceptionally good mood and immediately instructed the butler Anthony to give bonuses to everyone in the villa.
The bonus amount was even higher than their three months' salary!
Although the servants at Prime Estate were very proper, they still couldn't help but quietly ask Anthony for information.
Unexpectedly, Anthony knew nothing about it either.
While everyone was speculating about the reason, Landon had already hurried back to his study.
However, he didn't rush to handle any documents. Instead, he carefully unwrapped a beautifully packaged box.
One would think the box contained something precious, but unexpectedly, when opened, it revealed a calendar that was ridiculously large.
Yet Landon's attitude seemed extraordinarily serious.
He even hung the calendar in the most prominent spot in his study, then silently admired it for a while before picking up a pen and carefully drawing a circle on today's date!
Once he drew thirty circles, it would be completely over between those two.
At this moment, Charlotte, who had just returned to her apartment, had barely changed her shoes when she received a call from Jenna.
As soon as she answered, Jenna's voice urgently rang in Charlotte's ear. "Charlotte, how did it go? Did he sign the papers?"
Jenna had originally wanted to accompany Charlotte to the courthouse, but since this was a matter between her and Alexander, Charlotte had declined.
However, she knew that Jenna definitely hadn't been in the mood to do business this morning and had probably been pacing around the shop, waiting for her news.
So Charlotte, in a great mood, suddenly wanted to tease Jenna a bit and deliberately stayed silent, until Jenna anxiously said she would rush back to the apartment to keep her company. Only then did Charlotte laugh and tell her the good news.
After hearing it, Jenna first scolded her thoroughly, then happily told Charlotte not to cook dinner—she would come back to the apartment early today and buy a seafood set meal from the upscale hotel next door to celebrate properly.
Charlotte agreed with a smile.
But after hanging up, the smile on her face gradually faded.
The Forbes Group.
Sabrina sat in her office, but her mind had long flown to the CEO's office.
Using various excuses to go to the CEO's office several times, she still hadn't seen any sign of Alexander, and she couldn't help getting anxious.
Why wasn't Alexander back yet?
Had Charlotte changed her mind so quickly and refused to sign the divorce papers?
Her phone was getting hot from her grip. Just as she couldn't stand it anymore and was about to call Alexander, she heard someone outside saying Alexander had returned.
It turned out that after hitting a wall with Charlotte, Alexander had been in a bad mood and drove around for a long time, then went to deliver the settlement letter he'd just obtained to Calvin before returning to the company.
But before he could sit down and catch his breath, Sabrina came in.
"Alexander, you must be tired?" As Sabrina spoke, she skillfully walked behind Alexander and started massaging his shoulders.
After a few squeezes, she tentatively asked, "Alexander, did you finish the divorce with Charlotte? Did Charlotte back out?"
"It's done." Alexander only gave a brief response.
But hearing this, Sabrina was already satisfied.
Only then did Alexander seem to remember something and pulled down Sabrina's hands. "By the way, didn't I tell you to rest at home for a couple more days? Why did you come to the company again?"
Sabrina showed a timely look of worry. "When I think about how things got so bad between you and Charlotte, I feel really uncomfortable. I might as well come back to the company and keep busy so I won't overthink things."
Alexander pondered for a moment. "She brought this on herself."
"When she hits a wall later, she'll realize how good it was to stay with the Forbes Family as a full-time wife."
Sabrina's eyes flickered. "Charlotte has no idea how many people out there envy her life."
As the two were talking, the assistant knocked and entered.
"Mr. Forbes, Nova responded. She can come, but the appearance fee is one hundred million."
"What? One hundred million!" Before Alexander could speak, Sabrina couldn't help but gasp, covering her mouth. "This Nova is too greedy, isn't she? Does she really think your money is so easy to earn?"
"Alexander, you can't spoil her too much, or she'll only get worse in the future."
But Alexander instructed the assistant, "Get ready and transfer the one hundred million when the time comes."
Watching the assistant leave after acknowledging the order, Sabrina nearly bit through her lip.
