Chapter 62

Chapter 62
Every eye in the room shifted to Charlotte.

Charlotte took her time looking around the room before she spoke. "Now that the evidence is clear, Sabrina filed a false police report and staged her own harassment. This behavior not only seriously affected Dr. Smith's mental well-being and personal reputation, but constituted a clear violation ofthe law."

"Officer, I trust this matter will be handled as the law requires."

The police officer was stunned: "Miss Charlotte Spencer, are you saying you want to pursue this matter?"

The officer looked troubled.

Both Landon and Alexander were from one of River City's most powerful families — It would be difficult to favor either side.

Under normal circumstances, this would have been straightforward.

If the victim didn't pursue it, the matter would be dropped.

But if the victim pressed forward, the law would have to run its course.

Clearly, Charlotte belonged to the latter. "That's right, we demand a public apology, and we reserve the right to pursue legal action..."

As soon as Charlotte finished speaking, Calvin couldn't hold back: "Charlotte, don't even think about it!"

Charlotte didn't even glance at him, continuing calmly with her point. "We will reserve all rights to pursue this matter — including filing a lawsuit against Sabrina immediately."

Faced with Charlotte's relentless pressure, Alexander also got angry: "Charlotte, Sabrina was just trying to help us. Why are you being so stubborn?"

Charlotte replied dismissively. "She's your mom, not mine. She wasn't helping me."

Watching the tension escalate, the police officer had no choice but to try to smooth things over.

"Perhaps the two parties could come to an agreement? Otherwise, we'll have no choice but to detain Miss Sabrina Spencer."

Although Alexander was very angry, but there was nothing he could say.

He had just watched the surveillance video.

It was crystal clear that Oliver never touched Sabrina at all.

The truth was that Sabrina had tried to coerce him into supplying her with medication, and when he refused, she tore her own clothes and falsely accused Oliver of harassment.

So although he was unhappy with Charlotte protecting Oliver, he could still tell right from wrong.

So he spoke expressionlessly. "I won't shortchange Dr. Smith on the compensation he deserves."

"But the condition is that you can't sue Sabrina."

As always, he only cared about protecting Sabrina.

No matter what she did.

But Charlotte didn't feel sad at all this time. Instead, she felt strangely excited.

Landon, standing nearby, said nothing, just looked at her deeply.

Then Charlotte quickly walked over and whispered a few words to Oliver before turning to face Alexander formally.

"We agree to the compensation, but there's one more condition."

Alexander didn't hesitate. "Name it. As long as I can do it, anything is fine."

"Good." Charlotte matched his directness without blinking. "The other condition is that tomorrow, we get divorced."

Alexander looked completely incredulous. "Your condition is divorce? Are you sure?"

Charlotte saw right through his thinking—he assumed this was another one of her games, another attempt to bend him to her will..

So Charlotte raised her eyebrows. "I'm absolutely sure."

Alexander's expression changed several times.

"Charlotte, don't regret it if you keep this up."

Charlotte lifted her chin slightly, meeting his somewhat mocking gaze directly. "I won't regret it."

Looking at her, Alexander felt something shift — an odd, unsettling sensation, as though something was quietly escaping his grasp.

Across from him, watching Alexander's reluctance to respond, Charlotte felt a flicker of irritation.

So she added unhurriedly. "If you're unwilling, I won't force you."

"It's just that Sabrina will probably have to suffer a bit."

Earlier, when Alexander used Oliver to threaten her into agreeing to those conditions, Charlotte's disappointment in him had deepened beyond what she had thought possible.

She wanted no further ties to someone like him. Divorce was the cleanest way to sever them.

Since using Calvin and the medication had failed to move him before, why not use Sabrina?

After all, in his heart, Sabrina was even more important than Owen, his own son.

Suddenly, a wicked thought popped into Charlotte's mind...

With a mother-in-law as calculating and difficult as Cynthia, if Sabrina married Alexander in the future, would he protect Cynthia or Sabrina?

Suddenly, she really looked forward to seeing that scene.

Sabrina had been sobbing quietly on the side, but her watery eyes flashed with a gleam when no one was looking.

Calvin, hovering protectively beside her, leaned in close, his voice low enough for only her to hear. "Sabrina, don't worry. I definitely won't let her succeed."

Then Calvin immediately turned to Alexander: "Alexander, Charlotte is just playing hard to get, trying to make you obey her in the future."

"Women like her are nothing but trouble."

"Besides, can you really stand by and watch Sabrina suffer in jail?"

"Don't forget what the doctor told you."

Calvin hated for Charlotte ran deep and unrestrained.

Not only had she threatened to pursue attempted murder charges against him and conspired with overseas companies to undermine the Wallace family business — but worse, she had never stopped making Sabrina miserable...

So he absolutely would not allow Alexander to keep Charlotte by his side!

Sure enough, after those words, Alexander was completely swayed.

Just then, Sabrina lifted her pale little face and said in a trembling voice. "Alexander, don't fight with Charlotte because of me. It's not worth it."

Alexander made his decision almost instantly. "Fine. What time?"

The change was so fast that Charlotte was momentarily caught off guard.

Alexander agreed?

She thought it would take more persuading, but the turnaround came so quickly.

Charlotte pressed down the smile threatening to surface: "Tomorrow morning at ten?"

"Tomorrow morning, I'm not free." Alexander's voice was cold and hard.

Charlotte gritted her teeth secretly. "Then the day after tomorrow at ten in the morning. You won't be unavailable again, will you?"

This time, Alexander paused. "That works."

He didn't believe for a second that Charlotte, who had loved him for over ten years, would really be willing to divorce him.

It was just that this time, he should get serious and teach her a proper lesson.

But unexpectedly, Charlotte's eyes lit up, and she even called out loudly to the officer taking notes. "Officer, remember to include this condition in the settlement agreement."

It must be recorded!

To prevent Alexander from claiming he wasn't available later and disappointing her.

The officer hesitated for a moment. Could this be included in the agreement?

He exchanged a glance with his colleague.

His colleague gave him a look. They couldn't afford to offend these big shots. As long as they had no objections, they could write whatever they wanted.

The recording officer nodded with the air of someone relieved to have clarity, then seized the moment. 'And the compensation — how shall that be recorded?"

Charlotte raised an eyebrow.
