Chapter 26

Chapter 26

"Ah!"

A sudden scream came from behind.

Charlotte turned around and found that Sabrina had actually slipped and fallen into the pond nearby!

It happened so suddenly.

Watching Sabrina thrashing desperately in the water, Charlotte froze.

Soon, a tall figure rushed over like an arrow: "Sabrina!"

Without a word, Alexander dove into the pond with a splash.

Fortunately, he was a good swimmer and quickly rescued Sabrina.

But holding the pale-faced, unconscious Sabrina, Alexander's face darkened: "Charlotte, I won't let you get away with this!"

With that, he strode away carrying Sabrina: "Don't be scared, Sabrina. I'm taking you to the hospital right now."

Charlotte decided to follow them! To see what trick Sabrina was playing this time.

...

At the hospital.

The examination room door was tightly shut. Alexander sat in the seat closest to the door, his face grim.

Owen was also being very well-behaved by his side, not making a sound.

As for Charlotte, she stood leaning against the wall with an air of indifference, as if it had nothing to do with her.

In fact, Sabrina's fall into the water really had nothing to do with her.

She remembered clearly that in the garden, she hadn't even touched Sabrina!

As for why Sabrina fell into the water? Probably karma.

Just as she was thinking, footsteps suddenly echoed through the hospital corridor.

Before Charlotte could see who was coming, everything suddenly went dark before her eyes.

"You vicious woman!"

"Last time you failed to harm Sabrina, and this time you pushed her into the water!"

Calvin was furious, his finger almost poking into Charlotte's eye: "Let me ask you one thing - won't you be satisfied until you've driven Sabrina to her death?"

"How can there be such an evil woman in this world? Meeting you is the worst luck Sabrina could have!"

Looking coldly at Calvin, who wanted nothing more than to tear her into pieces, Charlotte looked at him in disgust and swatted his finger away: "Meeting her is the worst luck I could have."

Calvin was about to lose his mind.

Yet Charlotte still had that indifferent look, and he simply couldn't stand it anymore: "Still talking back? Fine, today I'll teach you a lesson on Sabrina's behalf, you wicked woman!"

Charlotte didn't back down at all. Instead, she straightened her back: "Go ahead and hit me here if you dare! I'd also like to see how a coward like you, who doesn't even dare to admit his feelings, plans to teach me a lesson."

Hit in his sore spot, Calvin guiltily glanced at Alexander, then raised his palm high.

"Enough!"

Alexander frowned, glared at Calvin, and scolded in a low voice: "Isn't it chaotic enough already?"

Calvin held his palm up in mid-air for a while before reluctantly lowering it.

Actually, he had always dared to humiliate and bully Charlotte so brazenly because no matter how much he made a fuss before, Alexander would never say anything, much less stand up for Charlotte.

Over time, he looked down on Charlotte more and more, cursing and criticizing her whenever he wanted, showing her no respect at all.

But this time, Alexander actually spoke up? He had no choice but to compromise for now, however unwilling.

So he lowered his hand, looking resentful: "Alexander, she hurt Sabrina like this, and you're just going to let her off easy?"

"Don't forget, last time she pushed Sabrina and made her fall, this time she dared to push her into the water, so what about next time? Have you even thought about Sabrina?"

Watching Calvin's aggressive, disgusting face that wanted to tear her apart and devour her, Charlotte suddenly said softly, "I pushed her into the water?"

"Mr. Wallace, did you see it with your own eyes, or did someone tell you? If you're making baseless accusations, I can call the police right now and sue you for defamation."

Calvin choked.

He indeed hadn't seen it with his own eyes, nor had anyone told him directly that Charlotte had pushed Sabrina into the water.

But if not, why would she feel guilty enough to follow them to the hospital?

Also, what was going on with Charlotte? She used to never talk back, always submissive, but now she seemed like a different person, talking back at every turn, almost leaving him speechless.

At this moment, Owen, who had been silently standing by, suddenly looked at Charlotte: "I saw it."

As soon as he said this, everyone's eyes instantly focused on him.

Owen pointed his little hand at Charlotte: "Mommy, it was Mommy who pushed Sabrina."

Calvin's face lit up with delight as he vigorously rubbed Owen's little face: "Owen, thank goodness for you."

Owen pulled away while saying with certainty, "As long as I'm here, no one can bully Sabrina."

Calvin laughed out loud, then turned arrogantly toward Charlotte: "See that? Even your own son won't help you. What do you have to say now?"

Alexander's cold gaze also fell on Charlotte: "Why? She's your sister."

When Sabrina fell into the water, he happened to be on the phone and hadn't witnessed what happened.

So at first, he didn't really believe Charlotte had pushed her, thinking Sabrina had simply slipped and fallen by accident.

But now that the truth was out... it seemed he needed to take a fresh look at this wife he'd lived with for seven years.

"Why?"

Meeting their gazes, Charlotte suddenly smiled softly: "Yes, why? Why would I push her? It doesn't make sense."

Calvin ground his teeth in hatred: "Because you're jealous of Sabrina!"

"You're jealous that she's prettier than you, younger than you, more capable than you, more popular than you... while you're just an old woman who's always disheveled, only knowing how to do laundry and cook."

Charlotte narrowed her eyes, looking quietly at Calvin: "There are plenty of people prettier than me, younger than me, more capable than me. Should I be jealous of all of them?"

Calvin hesitated: "But Sabrina... oh right, Alexander and Owen both like Sabrina, so you don't like her."

Hearing Calvin's confident tone, the mockery on Charlotte's face grew thicker: "Just because of those two? They're worthy of that?"

Alexander's expression changed, quickly cutting off Charlotte: "Charlotte, are you sure you want to say such irresponsible things in front of Owen?"

Charlotte sneered inwardly. Using Owen to threaten her again?

Before, she was always full of concerns, worried that arguing with Alexander in front of Owen would affect his young mind.

So she had always compromised, swallowed her grievances, even tolerating Sabrina constantly parading around in front of her...

But all she got in return for everything she gave was this result.

The next moment, looking at Alexander and Owen standing united against her, Charlotte's voice turned cold as ice: "You and Sabrina openly flirt in front of the child all the time without fear, so what should I be afraid of?"

Not expecting Charlotte to become so difficult to control, Alexander grew angry: "Charlotte!"

"What? You still think you have a clear conscience?" Charlotte lifted her eyes, glancing coolly at Alexander. "Want me to list out everything between you and her, one by one, and let everyone here judge?"

Veins bulged on Alexander's forehead: "Charlotte! Don't push me."

Charlotte curved her lips, about to mock him some more, when the light in the examination room suddenly went out.
