Chapter 177
Finally, Charlotte stopped showing off and cheerfully agreed to call Oliver right then and there.
"Okay, I'll do it. I'll call him now."
With that, Charlotte walked aside in her ten-million-dollar dress and called Oliver directly.
Unexpectedly, when Oliver heard he was supposed to treat Sabrina, he immediately shook his head like crazy: "She's too mean-spirited. Even if you gave me a billion, I wouldn't treat her."
Seeing Oliver's firm attitude, Charlotte had no choice but to tell him the truth.
After hearing it, Oliver cursed Alexander out over the phone, then scolded Charlotte: "You seem pretty smart, so how were you so blind to marry such a jerk?"
Charlotte's face flushed from the scolding. She couldn't help but ask weakly: "So can you help me out?"
"You're making me so mad, no way!" With that, Oliver actually hung up.
Hearing the mechanical tone from the receiver, Charlotte was stunned.
Was this divorce really not going to happen?
Just then, a figure quickly flashed by nearby.
In a dark corner near the courthouse.
Countless cigarette butts lay at Landon's feet.
At this moment, he was staring intently at the two groups confronting each other outside the courthouse, a rare trace of anxiety showing on his face.
"Mr. Landon Forbes." Suddenly, someone quietly approached. "I found out."
Landon almost instantly straightened up: "Tell me."
The person caught his breath and reported everything he'd overheard: "Mr. Alexander Forbes wants to make a deal, but when Ms. Spencer called Dr. Smith, he refused."
Landon rarely cursed.
Then he immediately got back in the car, quickly pulled out his phone, and made a call.
The call connected quickly.
"Charlotte just called you, didn't she? This time, you have to help her no matter what."
Having probably never heard such a firm tone from Landon before, Oliver paused, then laughed: "You're actually worried?"
Landon belatedly realized he'd given himself away.
But he neither denied nor admitted it, just laughed lightly: "So, are you going to help or not?"
Oliver chuckled and grumbled on the other end: "Yes! I'll definitely help!"
"I was just teasing her because I thought Charlotte was being too dumb and it annoyed me."
After a pause, he couldn't help adding: "You've been hiding this so well? You almost fooled even me."
Landon smiled and hung up.
Soon, his subordinate ran back: "Mr. Landon Forbes, Ms. Spencer has worked things out with Mr. Alexander Forbes. They're about to go in and process the paperwork."
After finishing, the subordinate couldn't help secretly pinching himself.
Was he seeing things? Landon, who never showed his emotions, was actually smiling, and so happily too.
Before he could recover, Landon patted his shoulder heavily: "This month, your bonus doubles."
The company benefits were already good, and with the bonus doubled, the subordinate smiled so wide his mouth nearly split open.
Assistant Zack nearby was also envious.
If it weren't for Ms. Spencer recognizing him, how would this fool get such a good deal? What a loss this time.
Just as he was regretting missing the chance to double his bonus, Landon glanced at him: "This month, give all employees an extra month's bonus."
On the other side, because Oliver suddenly changed his mind and called back saying he'd help adjust Sabrina's health, Charlotte smoothly worked out the terms with Alexander.
Relieved, Charlotte looked at Sabrina with a half-smile: "Hope you get better soon."
Sabrina's expression changed slightly.
She wasn't sure if it was her imagination, but she felt like Charlotte's words had a hidden meaning.
Could Charlotte know she was faking?
Impossible!
That person was so capable, arranging everything perfectly, even bribing overseas medical experts to testify for her.
Even Jordan couldn't see through it, let alone Charlotte, that woman who knew nothing about medicine!
Before she could think more, Charlotte and Alexander had already walked into the building one after the other.
Alexander must have made arrangements in advance, because as soon as they entered, a staff member came up and led them to a private room.
Charlotte raised an eyebrow.
Money really does make things happen—even getting divorced came with one-on-one VIP service.
Luckily, she could now barely be considered wealthy too.
As she was thinking, the staff member handling their case, a middle-aged woman, had finished checking all the documents: "You two, you still have a chance to cancel the divorce."
"As long as one of you doesn't want the divorce, today's appointment can be cancelled. Would you two like to reconsider?"
Charlotte shook her head without hesitation: "No need to reconsider. Please process the paperwork as soon as possible."
Perhaps hurt in his pride by Charlotte's decisiveness, Alexander's eyes darkened: "That's not necessary."
Seeing their firm attitudes, the staff member said nothing more and efficiently processed their formal divorce.
At five in the afternoon, Charlotte looked at the divorce certificate in her hand and let out a long, deeply relieved sigh.
She had finally escaped from this one-sided, unhealthy marriage.
At this moment, she felt no sadness or loss, only a sense of relief.
Nearby, seeing Charlotte's expression, Alexander suddenly felt something strange, as if something had completely slipped from his control, making him feel very uncomfortable.
"Charlotte, if you regret it now, I can give you one last chance."
Charlotte was carefully about to put the divorce certificate in her bag when she heard these words that sounded like charity, and nearly dropped it: "No need. Save that chance for Sabrina—I'm sure she'd be happy to take it."
Seeing that Charlotte still mentioned Sabrina with every sentence even now, Alexander suddenly felt a bit better.
Sure enough, she was jealous.
