Chapter 125
Ice cream!
Owen's eyes lit up, but then dimmed again.
He remembered what Charlotte had repeatedly told Philip at the banquet, so he hesitated and pulled back his hand before it could reach out.
"Mom said before that I'm not allowed to eat cold things, or I'll get a stomachache."
Sabrina's hand tightened around the ice cream!
Charlotte again!
Charlotte had already left the Forbes Family, yet she still had to keep Alexander and Owen unsettled
However, her expression soon softened again.
She simply sat down next to Owen and coaxed him: "Are you feeling a bit down right now?"
Owen thought about it and nodded.
"Exactly." Sabrina's smile grew wider. "Eating sweet things can make you feel better."
Owen looked up: "Really?"
"When have I ever lied to you?" Sabrina watched Owen's expression and added, "Besides, Charlotte was deliberately trying to make you and your dad unhappy tonight."
A flash of confusion crossed Owen's eyes: "Is that true? But everyone said I was wrong, that I shouldn't have wrongly accused Mom."
Sabrina deliberately let out a long sigh: "We did make mistakes, but the person who was most wrong is Charlotte."
"Think about it — that brooch was your grandmother's work. If Charlotte had admitted she broke it, Maurice would not have blamed her much."
"But she refused to take responsibility for you, and even deliberately made you and me look bad in front of everyone."
"Tell me, isn't that on purpose?"
Owen suddenly looked enlightened and angrily clenched his little fists: "Mom went too far!"
Sabrina raised her eyebrows smugly and stuffed the ice cream into his hand: "So, we need to be in a good mood and not fall for Charlotte's trick."
"Yes, I'll listen to you." Owen nodded firmly, then took a big bite of the ice cream.
Sure enough, he felt much better instantly.
Just then, Lisa passed through the living room and couldn't help but speak up when she saw this: "Owen, Mrs. Charlotte Forbes said before that you should eat less of these—"
Before she could finish, Sabrina glared at her fiercely: "Lisa, are you done with your work?"
"In that case, go upstairs and hand-wash all the clothes I changed out of."
Meeting Sabrina's warning look, Lisa's heart jumped.
The next moment, she didn't dare say anything more, lowered her head, and hurried upstairs to take care of Sabrina's clothes.
Only after watching Lisa's figure disappear around the corner did Sabrina finally look away with resentment.
A lowly servant daring to oppose her?
That night, the person who slept best and most peacefully was probably Charlotte.
At this banquet, although she suffered some grievances at first, her final gains exceeded expectations.
Not only did she expose Sabrina's true identity in front of everyone and cut off her access to Lynn's connections, but she also gained the approval of Maurice and Amanda.
Although Maurice would resign next month, many people in the Design Association were still his students, so his influence remained strong.
As for Amanda, like Charlotte, she had been willing to be a full-time housewife for years to take care of her family.
But her family was a famous household in River City, with wide connections and a formidable background.
With these two people's favor, it wouldn't be so easy for Alexander and Sabrina to suppress Charlotte as recklessly as before.
The next day was Monday.
It was also the day Jordan had arranged with Alexander to take Sabrina to the hospital for examination.
Early in the morning, Sabrina spent a full hour doing her makeup in front of the mirror and changed into her favorite white dress.
At this moment, she looked at the pitiful, flawless beauty in the mirror and smiled with satisfaction.
If Alexander turned out to be unreliable in the future, Jordan would actually be a pretty good backup. At least he was much better than Calvin.
Before leaving, Calvin, who had gotten wind of the news, called and said he also wanted to rush to the hospital to accompany Sabrina for the examination.
But unfortunately, Sabrina flatly refused.
She refused so decisively and coldly that even Alexander turned to look at her.
Sabrina quickly noticed his gaze and hurried to explain: "Alexander, having you with me is enough. I don't want Calvin to worry about me too."
Alexander looked away, but secretly felt guilty for almost misunderstanding Sabrina.
Sabrina was such a kind and innocent person, yet he had thought wrong and almost misjudged her.
And about yesterday's banquet, thinking it over carefully, he couldn't really blame her.
It was because she and Owen had such a good relationship.
If it weren't for protecting Owen, she wouldn't have made that mistake in her panic and pushed things onto Charlotte.
Forget it, he should treat her better from now on and make it up to her properly.
"Drive." Having made up his mind, Alexander instructed the driver.
Beside him, Sabrina, who had noticed Alexander's emotional change, secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
Sure enough, no matter how shrewd Alexander was, in the end she still had him wrapped around her finger.
They finally arrived at Hopewell Hospital.
Because Jordan had already given instructions, and because of Alexander's status, as soon as they arrived, a nurse immediately led them to Jordan's office.
Jordan in his white coat had an added touch of cool, restrained charm compared to the banquet, and Sabrina had lost count of how many times she had secretly looked at him.
A top student in school days, and also from a wealthy family.
So back then, almost ninety percent of the female students at school liked him.
Unlike Landon's noble laziness, and different from Alexander's handsome bearing, Jordan quietly exuded a crisp charm.
Jordan seemed completely unaware of Sabrina's gaze, focusing entirely on examining her and asking about her daily conditions.
After completing these tasks, he frowned slightly: "Ms. Spencer's condition is a bit strange. I recommend doing a full body examination again."
Sabrina felt slightly displeased.
Besides Landon, Jordan was the second man to treat her so coldly.
But he had been quite warm to Charlotte yesterday, yet was especially cold and distant to her.
Why was that?
Could it be that he was so focused on work and study that he didn't know how to interact with unmarried women?
That must be the reason.
Otherwise, why would he, a high-and-mighty rich kid and great doctor, give up an excellent woman like her and instead try to please the worthless Charlotte?
While Sabrina was lost in thought, Alexander beside her had already agreed: "Do it. Don't worry about the money."
With that response, Jordan immediately arranged the examination items and called the head nurse, instructing her to accompany Sabrina for the tests.
Seeing this, Sabrina became even more convinced that her guess was correct—Jordan wasn't being deliberately distant, he just didn't know how to show interest in unmarried women.
Once back to work matters, he was very thoughtful, using the examination as an excuse to arrange an experienced head nurse to accompany her.
Reserved men were indeed more reserved
Just then, Alexander's phone rang, and he walked out to take the call.
The head nurse also said she needed to go back and give instructions to the junior nurses under her, so the office was instantly left with only Sabrina and Jordan.
Jordan was buried in the documents on his desk when suddenly a faint orange fragrance drifted over.
