Chapter 61

Caught in the Act.

"Ben's POV".

I sat alone in my small room, the clock ticking away. I was thinking hard about something serious. I had a plan to deal with Tammy, who was keeping a big secret. The baby she was carrying wasn't Alexander's; it was mine. I knew that if Tammy told the truth, everything would change. She could be an emotional fool and spill the beans to Alexander all in the name of love.

I watched from far away as Alexander believed he was going to be a father, not knowing the real story. I planned to make Tammy tell the truth and stage an accident that would lead to her death afterward. I wanted to win by showing everyone the lies.

But I was also thinking about whether it was fair to my baby. It wasn't the baby's fault, and I wondered if I should make the baby suffer for what he didn't know anything about. Besides, Tammy has Leukemia and has low chances of survival so I might as well kill her off without mercy.

My plan was harsh. Maybe I should scare Tammy until she was very upset, and then I would make her say who the real father was. This would make him feel like I had won.

But as I thought about it, I felt unsure. I imagined Tammy's scared face and wondered what I would do after she told the truth. The thought of it vaguely got me riled up and I couldn't wait for my plan to blossom. But what happens to my baby?

Well, If it will be a hindrance to my plan, I'll discard it. Another one can be easily conceived” I muttered to myself with a wicked smirk.

I got up and walked around, thinking about my plan over and over. I knew that if I went through with it, there was no turning back.

When the clock hit midnight, I decided what to do. I shouldn’t have blood on my hands. I need to get someone who Tammy poses a risk. I thought to myself and Emily, Tammy's step-sister, came to mind. I left my room and decided to take a stroll around the neighborhood. It was as if luck and fate was on my side. I ran into Emily who sat in a garden in the neighborhood.

“I didn't expect to see you here Emily, " I said and took a seat some meters away from her.

“Ben, what are you doing here? She looked sideways at and back at the streetlight.

“Just taking a stroll, I responded to her and she didn't say anything.

We both kept quiet and said no word. The only thing that made a sound was the flickering of the street lights.

I decided to break the silence and hint at her if she would be of any use to me.

"Emily," I began, "have you ever thought about what life would be like if you were in charge of the family company?"

Emily looked up, surprised by the question. "I guess I have, but it's always been Tammy's thing," she replied a hint of sadness in her voice.

I adjusted and sat next to her properly. "But what if it wasn't? What if you had the chance to take over? You're just as capable, maybe even more."

Emily's eyes lit up with a mix of hope and confusion. "What are you saying, Ben?"

I leaned in closer, my voice low. "I'm saying that sometimes opportunities come in unexpected ways. Tammy... she's not going to be around much longer. And when she's gone, the company will need a new leader. Aren't you tired of being Tammy's slave?"

"But Tammy's okay and breathing," Emily said, her brow furrowing. "It's not like she's just going to disappear."

"That's where you're wrong," I whispered, planting the seeds of my plan. "Tammy's sick and she has a few days left to live. If she wasn't around, you'd be next in line. You could inherit everything."

Emily's face showed a storm of emotions. She had always had to be Tammy's errand girl just because she was her stepsister and was birthed by a maid.

I could see I was getting through to her. "Think about it, Emily. This could be your chance to shine, to show everyone what you're capable of. You can't stay a wimp forever. All it takes is for Tammy to... go away."

"But how?" Emily asked, her voice barely above a whisper. Do you have a plan in mind?

I stood up, my silhouette dark against the fading light. "Leave that to me. Just know that when the time comes, you'll have to be ready to step up."

Emily nodded, her decision made in the silence that followed. She would do it. She would take the chance that fate, through my hands that I offered her.

As I walked away, I smiled to myself. I was using Emily, just like I used others before. But it didn't matter. The end justifies the means, and my plan was in motion.

I kept in touch with Emily and gave her two options. It was either she should act friendly and have Tammy's food poisoned since she goes to serve her food every day or she kill her in the hospital room with no eyes watching.

It was her choice. I just needed her to make a choice and have I planned out. Emily made her choice and then the moment came. It was late at night when Emily entered Tammy's hospital room. Her heart was heavy, but her resolve was firm. She approached the bed where Tammy lay, her breathing shallow."Tammy," Emily said softly, tears in her eyes. "I'm sorry."

With a trembling hand, she reached for the pillow. It was soft, almost too soft for what it was about to do. She hesitated, her mind screaming at her to stop. But then she remembered my words, the promise of a new life, a new beginning.

As she strangulated Tammy, the door opened slightly and he walked in. “Emily, what do you think you are doing?
