"Alexander’s POV".
I stood in silence watching the two ladies fight and curse each other out.
“Let me go you, let go of me you lunatic. I did not kill your mother how can I kill your mother? What insolence is this? Someone get me out of this crazy B I T C H E S hand, she will kill me.” Tammy choked.
“Yes I will kill you, I will kill you!” Leila growled and tightened her grip around her neck.
“Please... save me.” Tammy cried, her face slowly losing its color.
“Stop this Leila.” Allison screamed and pulled Leila away from Tammy.
“She is crazy! Take her to a mental hospital she is a danger to the society. She wanted to kill me right in front of everyone.” Tammy cried and turned to Alexander, “baby did you see that? She wanted to kill me... babe did you see that? She is accusing me for murder, babe this is an assassination of character.”
“You bought a lethal injection two days ago! The very day that Emily died, it was fake. You two staged her death and I have evidence. Emily walked into the hospital with her own two legs and she bought a lethal injection based on your instructions. I know this is just one of your many plans to ruin my life isn’t it,” Leila screamed at her.
“You are crazy! Emily is dead I did not do anything, babe please do something I can no longer stand the insults.” Tammy cried.
“You killed my mother!” Leila kept screaming and crying.
I felt helpless, I wanted to comfort Leila, but my arms felt like lead weights.
“I am sorry Leila, if there is anything I can do...” I murmured.
Leila looked up at me, her eyes filled with a kind of dark fury I have never seen in her before. “Find them, find whoever did this and make them pay.” she whispered, her voice like steel.
“Tammy! She killed my mother , make her pay.” Leila growled, her eyes blazing with fury.
“Leila...please think about this with a calm mind. You can not let yourself be consumed by vengeance.” I pleaded.
“What should I do? I sat by idly and watched Ben murder my aunt, I watched my husband divorce me and go back to his ex the very next day. Tell me Alexander what should I do?” Leila asked.
Before I could reply, the police officers entered the room, and my hands instinctively went to my pocket. I knew what I had to do.
“Are you sure you want to do this! If you stop this Leila might hate you forever.” The voice in my head warned.
My voice came out as a low hiss, in the sterile air. “I want you to drop the case. No more investigation, no more questions. Do you understand?”
The officers exchanged a glance, their faces stony and readable. I knew that they knew who I was, the wealth and power that I commanded.
“Consider it done.” One of the officers said.
I nodded, my relief palpable. But as the officers left the room, I turned to face Leila her eyes filled with tears and rage.
“What are you doing?” Leila asked, her voice breaking with tears.
My heart aches as I saw the pain etched into Leila’s features. I wanted to comfort her, to tell her that I was there for her, but I knew that doing that would only endanger her.
“Leila,” I began, “I know that this is hard. I know that you want answers. But trust me when I say that this is for the best.” I reached out to touch her face. “Please, let it go.” I implored.
Leila turned away from my touch, her eyes burning with anger and grief. “Let it go?” She spat. “My mother is dead, Alexander. Someone murdered her and you want me to just let it go?”
My heart sank, my worst fears realized. I had never wanted to hurt her, had never wanted to be the source of her pain.
“Leila,” I pleaded, stepping closer to her. “Please there is more at stake here than you realize.”
But it was too late.
“What could be more important than getting revenge for my mother! Tammy killed my mother you and I know this and yet you are telling me to calm down! You are telling me to let it go? How would you feel if your mother suffered!”
“Leila!” I yelled at her. “You do not have any idea what kind of game is being played here, you are blinded by revenge that you can not think straight! You are just too stubborn for your own sake. Do you have any idea what your stubbornness has cost me!”
“Yes I am stubborn! But at least I am not a coward. You want me to keep quiet cause your girlfriend is a murderer? I hate you Alexander I hate you!” Leila screamed, her hand hitting my chest.
“ I did everything a wife should do, I gave you my body gave you my trust and everything I had. What did you do? You only kept secrets from me, you never ever opened to me for once about anything. We both got married because of our deal, I told you everything about my deal and why I was seeking for revenge. And you? You kept quiet all along. Do you not trust me Alexander? Do you not have faith in me? Tell me Alexander, tell me all that we had was fake to you and I will leave here right now and I will never show my face to you.”
I felt bad seeing her in a such a state.
“Tell me Alexander! Why are you being so quiet. Tell me that all we had means nothing to you, tell me that my love and words mean nothing to you, answer me Alexander!”
“I love you Leila! I love you... but I can not be with you.” I shouted.
“Why...”
