Chapter 71:

Chapter 71:
Natalie POV:

I had just finished eating and I must admit I do feel a lot better, not as tired as I was earlier. I knew that Davonna was working on healing me, I had a feeling I would need her so we rejoined this morning. I’m sure we can figure out how to get her back out again.

“Are you ready to go?” Sabrina asked. I looked at Will and he nodded.

“I am, although I’m not really sure how all of this goes. Was there a council or anything to help decide peoples fate or something?” I asked.

“Yes, our mothers and yours were the council. It wasn’t often that it was needed though.” Willow replied. That made sense, it’s kind of like how I grew up knowing.

“So we will create it? I’m not so sure I like the idea of only white witches making up a council.” I admitted.

“No? What idea has crossed your mind?” Chloe asked.

“Well considering we are all joining together now I think the council should be made up of me, Ezmeralda, Adira and Ash. With advisors of course. We would choose whoever we wanted. More like we are the judges and our advisors are the jury.” I said.

It had crossed my mind a few times but I hadn’t found the time to mention it or really bring it up. We’ve just had so much going on lately but i like the idea of us all getting a say since we are joining together.

“That’s actually not a bad idea, it will come across as fair.” Sabrina replied. I smiled at her response, it would come across as fair, with us being different races but holding near the same morals and also seeing things from different outside angles.

“The others are going to meet us in the cells. Is there anything that we need to know before we do this? What have they done exactly?” Will asked.

“They haven’t hurt anyone that much I can say, they have been feeding information to the wrong people, I don’t know what the end game is though. That is what we need to find out.” Willow answered.

That didn’t make me feel any better about this. On the bright side they haven’t hurt anyone directly or by their own hands but still.. Giving information out is not a good thing. But then again if they had certain information about me or the others then why hasn’t Victor made his move a lot sooner? My mind was spinning in different directions. There has to be more to this than we know.

“You’re deep in thought. What is it?” Celeste asked. I scrunched my eyebrows together,

“I don’t know, something just seems off about it. If they knew things then why has Victor waited so long to try anything? The black witches have always done whatever they wanted no matter what.” I voiced. The more I thought about it the more my mind started to jumble.

“Maybe he needed a source of power, he wasn’t strong enough to do anything just yet. That is why he was with your mother.” Chloe replied. She had a point but still.

“Not to mention we all hid ourselves away in different packs. They didn’t know where any of us really were.” Willow added.

“But why didn’t they follow?” I asked.

“That is the million dollar question honestly. I won’t lie, it is a bit confusing and I really do want answers.” Celeste admitted. Well that doesn’t really help me. I was hoping that they would know a little bit more but then again it has been years since they’ve all really been together.

Walking down this hallway always made me feel weary. I never really liked it but I understood it. I’m sure there are worse cells in other places. I could hear voices and I knew the others were already here,

“Ah, Natalie there you are. We just got down here, these ladies don’t seem really happy to see us.” Bobbie said as she shoved her thumb in their direction. As soon as I got close enough I turned to look in the cells. One in each and five total.

“Hello, you all know who I am already. I was hoping we could just talk.” I said looking at each of them.

“We don’t talk in front of.. Those people.” One snapped. If looks could kill, Bobbie would be long gone.

“Why not? They haven’t done anything to any of you.” I questioned.

“We just don’t; races aren’t supposed to mingle and mix.” Another said.

“So then why are you being spies for the black witches?” I pressed, now annoyed at the words being said. None of them said anything. When I looked around one of them looked like she wanted to say something but she couldn’t find the right words.

“What is your name?” I asked, looking at her. Her dull blue eyes met mine,

“Avery.” She answered.

“You look like you want to say something Avery, this is a safe space so long as you are honest.” I urged. She tilted her head to the side and backed away from the door. She was hiding herself but not from me. She was hiding from the others.

“What is she doing?” Ash asked through the link.

“She is hiding from them, like she doesn’t want them to know she is trying to tell me something.” I replied, not taking my eyes off of her. I could feel the others getting uneasy.

“Does anyone have anything to say?” Sabrina pressed. When no one answered my aggravation was starting to grow.

“Fine, if you won’t willingly tell me then I’ll force it from you.” I muttered teleporting myself into Averys cell. I grabbed the sides of her head and made sure I opened the link for Ezmeralda and Ash could see what I was about to.

It was dark at first. I blinked a few times before holding my hand out, feeling the warmth against my palm. I looked down to see the flame dancing across my skin. I fanned my hand out releasing it to the ground below me. It rolled across the ground and I could see someone laying down.

“Be careful.” Ezmeraldas voice floated in my head. I walked forward until she was in front of me and I knelt down and rolled her to her back. It was Avery but it was like she was frozen. I knelt down and brushed her hair to the side, her eyes found mine and they were paled. I touched the side of her face and noticed she was cold.

“Something is very wrong here.” I whispered.

“I can help her but I need you to pull me in.” Ezmeralda replied. I took a deep breath and closed my eyes, I could feel her hand rest on my shoulder and when I opened my eyes she was running towards us.

“Do you know what this is?” I asked.

“It’s like what happened to the other humans Dahlia rescued. They were mummified and frozen in their own heads. It’s how they were able to see through them.” Ezie replied.

“So she had no choice?” I questioned.

“No, I can’t say the same for the others, they do seem a little more responsive but when she backed away I knew something was off.” Ezie replied.

“Okay, so how do we fix this? She can’t possibly be like this for much longer.” I urged. My worry was starting to grow a lot now.

I watched as Ezmeralda laid her flat on her back, rotating her head to look up. She bent down and whispered something I couldn’t quite make out. It sounds like it was in a different language. I watched in amazement as Avery blinked her eyes a few times before focussing on us.

“Thank you.” She whispered.

“You are welcome. This is just a temporary fix, we will move you shortly without the others finding out to finish the process.” Ezmeralda replied.

“What happened to you?” I asked. She looked dazed and confused.

“I was getting ready to leave to go to the pack when the others found me. My parents were you mothers official guards, next thing I know I’m here. I can see what is going on and could interact somewhat but that was all I could do.” Avery replied. I felt sad for her but also very curious. I read about my mothers guards, they were incredibly fierce and held the power of four elements.

“Well, you are safe now. Why did they take you though?” I asked.

“To explore some power I was supposed to inherit from my parents. The element carriers never came to me so I guess they remained hopeful that they would.” Avery shrugged.

Now that was interesting, they must have not come to her because they knew she wasn’t really herself and goddess only knows what would happen if they armed her with the elements and she worked for them.

“Nat, we need to get back to we can finish the process, it’ll only take a day or so but you need to get into the others head and see what they have been up to and what they want.” Ezmeralda warned.

“Will she be okay?” I asked. I didn’t want to put her through any pain.

“Yes, she will be perfectly fine. I’d like to do some research on her as well. Her parents were guards. She is bound to do great things.” Ezie smiled. I couldn’t have agreed more.

“Alright Avery, we are going to go for now and I’m going to send you with queen Ezmeralda. She will take excellent care of you and when I’m done with the other I’ll come see you.” I vowed.

“Stay out of their heads.” Avery warned.

“Why? What is in there?” I asked.

“Black witches are connected to them somehow. If you go in there they will be waiting.” Avery replied. I looked at Ezmeralda.

“That idea is out.” I muttered.

“Sounds like when Victor was in my mothers head. Is there another way for you to check?” Ezie asked.

“I may know a way, I’ll have to do some research on it though. We need to blind them so they can’t see anything. If they do then that means the black witches can.” I answered.

“Okay, I will focus on her, Mariah may know how to blind them, she is a spell wizard.” Ezmeralda said and I nodded my head. I took one last look at Avery and smiled before I pulled us back out.

“Did you get all of that?” I asked, looking at Ash.

“Yes, I’ve already filled the others in.” Ash replied, holding his phone up. That was smart so the others didn’t hear what we knew. I looked at Mariah and she winked. That told me she knew exactly what to do.

“Since all of you seem to be unhelpful I believe some punishment is in order.” I announced, not giving away that Ezmeralda already took Avery.

“Go ahead. We aren’t afraid of you.” One of them smirked.

“You really should be.” I deadpanned. Her smile faded from her face. Mariah stood in the middle of the hallway and started muttering something that sounded like Italian. I was going to have to learn the language to know what she was saying.

“My eyes!” One shouted.

“I can’t see!” Another sounded off.

“What have you done?! Give me my sight back!” Another shrieked.

“Enjoy darkness. We will hold a meeting to decide your final fate.” I announced. This was going to get really tricky really quickly..
