Chapter 17

Crystal POV

Jamie rushes me into the limo. What a fucking nightmare this night has turned into for me! I wish I would have stayed behind and let him go alone. He pulls me close to him as we leave the event. He holds me without saying a word. I know he is furious about everything that happened tonight. There is no way he is as upset as I am at this moment.

Jamie tries to talk to me as we ride home. “I am so sorry,” he says as he kisses the top of my head.

I refuse to acknowledge him. I do not blame him for what happened. I only need time to process everything that happened tonight, and talking about it is not how I process the events.

We pull into the driveway of his home. The driver opens Jamie’s door, but I bolt out the other side and run into the house. I run up the stairs and into my drab, depressing room; I lock the door; I do not want to be bothered. I lie across the bed and bury my face into the pillow. My makeup is ruined from crying, and my hair is a mess. I can smell the whiskey on my dress again. I cry into the pillow staining the ugly plain pillowcase with my makeup.

Jamie is at the door, beating on the door. “Let me in,” he demands. I refuse to answer the door or answer him, period. I continue to cry into the pillow.

“Open the door, Crystal. None of this is my fault. Do not shut me out,” Jamie says through the door. He storms away. I know he is pissed, but I do not care if he is mad. I do not want him in here with me right now. I want to be alone.

Jamie comes back to the door. I can hear him outside the door as he begins to knock gently again. Then I hear the key. Of course, he has a fucking key to the door. He opens the door and closes it behind him. He comes straight to the bed, lies beside me, and pulls me close to him.

“This is not my fault; please talk to me,” Jamie says.

I lay there not speaking. I am too upset to talk to him. “Tell me how to make this better,” Jamie says to me.

I turn my head facing him. He promptly kisses my lips. “I am sorry, Crystal,” Jamie says.

“I do not blame you, Jamie; I am only upset. I need time to think about what happened,” I say to him.

He kisses me again. “Let me make the night better,” Jamie says to me.

“I had a good time with you. I loved going with you. I want to be able to go places with you like that again, but being attacked by your ex-wife is not something I want ever to happen again, Jamie,” I say.

He kisses me again. “I know, and I am sorry it happened. Helen should not have been at the event in the first place,” Jamie says.

“Then why was she there?” I ask.

“She was there to start trouble, which is what she is good at doing,” Jamie says.

“She told me you would never love anyone but her and that I needed to let you go so you could come back to her,” I say.

Jamie caresses my body softly. “I did love her once, very much. She divorced me, and I was heartbroken, but I got over it. She chooses to end our marriage; I did not. I wanted it to work, but she left. To answer the question you are trying to ask, I do not love her anymore,” Jamie says.

“She is under the impression that she is the love of your life,” I say.

“At one time, she might have been, but not now. She is my past,” Jamie says.

“Then what is your future, Jamie?” I ask him.

“You are my future, Crystal. I care deeply for you,” Jamie says.

“You barely know me, Jamie,” I say to him.

“Well, I want to know everything about you. I want you here for more than sex; it is so much more. I want to be everything to you and you to me,” Jamie says.

Jamie pulls me closer to him. “This dress is killing me,” I say to him.

“Let, daddy, help you out of it, little miss,” Jamie says to me with a smile.

I back out of bed, and Jamie follows me. He unbuttons, then unzips my dress, and helps me out of the atrocity. I feel like I can breathe again. The dress felt like it weighed a ton. I feel better having it off of me. He looks at me standing in front of him in the baby blue lace panties, garter, and bra he picked out. He touches the garter on my right leg and lets his hand slide up to the baby blue laced panties. His hand slides gently up my stomach to the bra. He touches my breast softly then kisses me.

“I knew these would look beautiful on my little miss,” Jamie says.

“I like these; maybe I could get another set in another color, daddy,” I say to him.

“Daddy loves baby blue, little miss,” Jamie says.

I pull him to me. “I am happy daddy loves baby blue, but little miss loves purple, sir,” I say to him.

He kisses me and bites my bottom lip. “Well, then little miss, daddy will get you another set in purple if you promise only to wear it for daddy,” Jamie says.

“I promise, sir,” I say to him as I pull him to me to kiss me again.

“Do you feel better now?” Jamie asks me.

“Almost, sir,” I answer him.

“What can daddy do to make his little miss feel better?” Jamie asks me.

“Ummmm, maybe daddy could take his little miss to bed and help her forget this awful night, sir,” I say to him.

Jamie picks me up and carries me to bed.
