Chapter 13
Crystal POV
Jamie stays with me in my room until Liz arrives to do my hair and makeup. I am so nervous about tonight. He wants me to talk to him, but I don’t know how to tell him that I am scared of what people will think about me. Funny, I can take my clothes off on a stage in front of people I do not know, but the thought of going to a formal event with his firm is freaking me out. What if they do not like me and he decides to get rid of me? I like it here. What if I call him daddy by accident? What if he does not have fun with me? I am terrified.
I wash my hair so Liz can trim it for me. I sit down in a chair in my room. She puts down plastic and goes to work. She does not even bother to ask me what I want. She has already consulted with Jamie, and now it is out of my hands. She trims my hair but does not talk to me. I wonder if she knows about our arrangement.
When she finishes trimming my hair, she puts rollers in my hair. I do not think I have ever had rollers in my hair, not ever. She takes out a makeup case and begins applying my makeup. She steps back, often looking at me as she works. It feels weird having someone do this for me.
She completes my makeup and goes back to work on my hair. She blows the rollers dry with a hairdryer on low. While she is working, Margie comes in with my dress. I feel like a doll they are playing dress-up with for fun. I should relax and enjoy this. Jamie is doing this for me, and I am acting like a baby about it. I take a deep breath and try to calm myself.
“Are you okay?” Liz asks me. Oh damn, look, she can talk.
“Yes, I think so. I have never had someone to do my hair and makeup before,” I say to her.
“Oh, I am sorry, I thought you had, or I would have explained what I was doing. The clients usually want me to do my job and leave. I was not trying to be rude,” Liz says.
“It is fine; I am nervous, that is all,” I say to her.
“There is nothing to be nervous about at all; you look beautiful,” Liz says.
She continues to blow out my hair. She starts pulling out the rollers and then teasing my hair. My hair is everywhere. What in the hell is she doing?
“Do not worry, I am trying to build some volume for your updo,” Liz says.
“Oh, okay, I was starting to panic a little,” I say.
“I can see it all over your face; just trust me,” Liz says.
Liz puts the blow dryer away and teases my hair more. I did not know my hair would puff up that big. She goes to work, pulling my hair up, leaving hair down to flow down my back. The sides are pulled up. She pins the sides in tight and curls the ends with a flat iron. She pulls pieces from the back and curls those with the flat iron. I look in the mirror. My hair is perfect. I look like a model.
“Wow, I did not know my hair could do all of that,” I say to her.
“Crystal, you have perfect hair,” Liz says as she fluffs it into place. She sprays my hair with hair spray and then my face with setting spray.
“I am all done,” Liz says.
Margie is waiting for me patiently. She has my dress laid out on the bed. The shoes are on the floor. There is a small box with it. I wonder what is in the box.
I get up to try on my dress. Margie hands me the box. “These are your intimates,” Margie says.
I open the box. There are baby blue lace panties, a baby blue lace strapless bra inside, and a tiny baby blue lace garter in the box. Jamie picked this out because I did not choose these items.
“You can go into the bathroom and put these on. I will help you to make sure they are on correctly when you come out, or you can do it here,” Margie says sternly to me.
Margie is stoic. It is obvious she has done this many times. I remove my clothes and slip into the panties first. My nakedness does not even phase her. She takes the bra from me and helps me into it. I put the garter on, and she is on me quickly to put it in its proper place.
She looks me over, which is weird and intimidating. She takes my dress and places it on the floor. “Step in, miss,” Margie says.
I step into the dress, on command. I am not fucking around with this woman. She pulls the dress up and begins fastening and tightening the dress. It is not comfortable, and I am not sure if I can breathe in it, but she is not worried about my comfort, only how I look.
“Lucky for you, it is a perfect fit,” Margie says.
I look at myself in the mirror. I feel like Cinderella. She goes under my dress and pulls and presses it into place. She then helps me into my shoes.
“One more thing, your jewelry,” Margie says.
She stands behind me and slips a diamond necklace around my neck. She puts earrings in my ears without even flinching. She goes back to her bag of goodies and gets a small diamond headband. She pops it on my head with a little too much force.
“My work here is finished; good luck tonight, miss,” Margie says.
She is out of the room before I can say thank you. I look at myself in the mirror. I look amazing. I hope Jamie is pleased.
