Chapter 96
Chapter 96
Today is the day.
The coronation day. I can't believe I got favoured, and chosen to step in as the Grand Queen.
The past two weeks have been a haze of lots of things. For starters Deimos has been quiet, too quiet it gives me the creeps.
He is planning something I can feel it. Something big, something dangerous.
“Hey, you have to stay in the present okay? Stop zoning out. You've got this.” Bion chide, nudging me slightly.
I take a deep breath as I sigh deeply. I can do this, all I have to do is accept the throne while they perform the ritual.
“Do you actually think Deimos has nothing up his sleeves? He has been too quiet.” I say, shuffling on my feet as the maids work on my hair.
“Leave.” Bion growls.
Hands on my hair immediately seized as they retreated out of my room.
“What was that for?” I whine because I was actually enjoying the hands on my head.
“I also think Deimos is up to something, but I really don't know what exactly it is.” he grunts, his fingers moving to tug at his hair.
It makes me smile a little.
Seeing him so worked up is so cute.
Death
My lips curve down as my smile falters at that one word. I have been having that one word constantly in my mind like something serious is about to happen.
Like someone is about to die.
My insides are always burning, the thirst to see someone dead grows deeper, and deeper.
These past two weeks have been hell. I keep dreaming of the curse coming to pass. It scares me.
The amount of death, blood bath. The screams, tears, and my smile has me crying the moment I wake.
The feeling has been so strong I bought a golden dagger.
“Bion?” I call, playing with the helm of my white dress as I try to figure out a way to get him to agree.
“Yes baby.” my heart slices deeper at his words. I am really going to miss him.
Without thinking I slam my lips on his because this may be our last chance to kiss.
I never agreed to the full mating ritual because the pain he would feel if I die would be unbearable, and even in death it would hunt me.
“I have something to give you.” I murmur, sliding open the drawer as I pull out the dagger, and place it on his palm.
He pulls his palm away swiftly letting the dagger fall to the floor.
“No, I won't. It's broken okay? The curse is broken, your fate already changed.” he yells, backing away as he tugs at his hair.
“You heard what they said at the council. Even they believe you, why won't you believe yourself?” he snaps, turning his back on me.
“I really don't want to do this, but I have to. I can't kill millions all because I am cursed. “ I growl, rising to my feet.
He stalk to the other end of the room, refusing to look at me.
“Bion–”
“Why won't you just see that I can't do it? I love you too much to do that. I can–”
“WELL, IT'S NOT JUST ABOUT YOU. I CAN'T STOP SEEING YOUR DEAD BODIES.
I CAN'T STOP THINKING OF RIPPING YOUR HEARTS OUT AS I MUNCH IN THEM FOR FUN.
I CAN'T STOP HEARING DEATH.”I lash out, tears springing down my eyes.
“It's not just about you. What am I going to do? It hurts so much to even have to sacrifice my life.
Do you think I don't want to be with you or Julie or our friends?
Do you feel it's any harder for you than it is for me? I am hovering up my life here.” I cry out, finally letting the words out.
‘Then don't. You don't have to die, we will find a way. We always do, please baby don't make me do this.” he pleads, pulling my palm into his.
I stand on my top toe as I place a kiss on his lips, “It's too late. I can feel weird sensations in my chest. I can feel my control slipping.” I explain, trying to get him to understand.
“Just take the knife. You don't have to hurt me if nothing goes wrong. Please love, I can't live on this earth if I kill you all.” I plead, a tear running down my cheeks.
He stares at me for some time before sliding the dagger underneath his clothes then glares at me.
I am about to speak before he stomps away. A deep sigh leaves my lips.
Knock.
“Come in.” I whisper, not sure if the other person can hear me.
I am proven wrong when the handle twists, and none other than the Queen walks in elegantly in her royal robe.
She looks elegant, her hair styled by the best styler as her crown is placed correctly on her head.
“Do you have a minute?” she asks, moving forward to take a seat.
“Sure, I do.” I say instead of calling her mom.
Calling someone else with the title mom makes me feel like I am betraying my mom.
I don't know why, but I just feel so.
“What do you want to talk about?” I ask, squirming in my seat.
I don't know how to face her after killing her husband. He may have hated me, but I don't think he hated his wife.
“I just have something to tell you. I read your letter.” she says, causing me to nearly choke on air.
I have been sending her a letter because I have no clue what I would say to her if I looked her in the eyes.
But here she is, all happy, and recovered. And she is talking to me. I feel like disappearing.
“I am really sorry for causing the demise of your husban–”
“I pray he rots in hell, and never finds anything except pain, and torture.” she cuts me off causing me to gasp.
“There is something you need to know. I don't know how to say this, but I am not your mother.” she says, placing her palms in mine.
My eyes widen as I stare at her unblinking, my heart pounds against my chest as my brain refuses to process the words leaving her mouth.
“What are you saying? Who are you then?” I stutter, my eyes blinking as I can't process the new information I am getting.
“I am your mother's twin sister.” she spills, teats gathering up in her eyes as she stutters.
My throat locks as the question crawls up my throat as the question refuses to come out. But I force myself to ask.
“So, where is my real mom?” I blurt out, hanging my breath as I wait.
“She was murdered.”
“Whatt!!” my eyes pop, tears spilling down uncontrollably.
