Chapter 76 Seventy six
#####76

Irene's P.O.V

Tears welled up in my eyes as I tried to arrange my passport back into a whole one. My sight was blurry and the only thing I held towards Kourtney was nothing but hate and I wished that all the bad things in the world would happen to her. The gum on my hands dried up, making it difficult for me to put the pieces together.

I hated my life and I hated every fucking thing about me and most especially, I blamed the universe for my bad luck because whenever I tried to make progress, everything somehow turns against me.

The tears that were threatening to fall, dropped on my passport and the only thing I wanted to do was scream and cry out my lungs. Why was the world so unfair to me? Why did everyone hate me and why did I have to be born into such a useless family! If I hadn't been born into a family like that, then I would have never been used in exchange for a debt. I would have never met Xavier and I would have never gotten entangled in this mess!

I might have loved my mom with all of my heart but at the moment, I held her in nothing but disdain because I still couldn't understand how she had to mess herself up by settling with someone like my father. If she hadn't married someone like him, I was damn sure that my life would have been better and somehow, she would have still been alive by this time.

All the things that I have gone through flashed through my head as my heart juddered in my chest. I sniffled in my tears and brushed my fingertips through my brow as I swallowed the heavy lump that formed in my throat.

My sticky fingers trembled as I struggled to join the pieces together. Different thoughts raced through my mind and all the sad memories and sad experiences of mine came rushing in my head as I gulped on my spit. The passport was a total ruin and the only thing I could inside of me was cry and cuss out at Irene for ruining my damn day.

She ruined all my plans and she ruined everything that had caused my heart to leap for joy for the past 24 hours. She ruined the last piece of hope that I clinged onto and I have never wished anyone dead the same way I wished that she was dead at the moment.

Why was life so unfair to me? Why did everything have to go wrong at the edge of my breakthrough?

I stood to my feet as my chest rose and fell steadily. I needed to leave for Scotland today! I didn't know how I would get there but I needed to get there today! I leaned forward a little and reached my hands for the passport that was torn into pieces as I squeezed it in my hands and hurled it against the wall.

A ruined passport wouldn't stop me from reaching Scotland today! I would do anything to get there and I don't care what it takes because at the moment, I was motivated to do anything and I swear that no one would be able to stop me from reaching Scotland. Not even Xavier, Kourtney childish plots and all the hurdles life wanted to throw at me. Even if my mom rose from her grave in a bid to pacify me, I swear that none of them would be able to stop me.

I cleaned the tears that welled up in my eyes with the back of my hand and I was about to pull my luggage behind me when the door creaked open slowly. Xavier poked his head inside with sweat trickling down his face as he sauntered toward me and stretched his hands ri me.

I was confused about what he was about doing as I glanced back and forth at his hands hanging in the air and his face that was devoid of emotion. When he saw the glint of doubt in my eyes, he took my hands with his other hand and placed it on his palm.

"I wanted you to reach for my hand and since you refused or totally had no idea about what I was driving at, I decided to take the bull by its horn " Xavier said, throwing me into further confusion.

All the boldness and the anger that I felt inside of me disappeared as soon as he placed my hands on his. Hate filled every part of me and the hate wasn't towards Xavier or Kourtney but it was for me because I hated how weak I was. How every touch of his made it feel like I was about melting in his hands.

I lowered my head, totally at a loss for words to say. "Alpha Xavier, I am sorry about everything! I am sorry for leaving abruptly and I am sorry for......"

Before I could finish talking, Xavier cut in and he took me by surprise when he cupped my cheeks in his palms with his eyes piercing into mine. I suddenly felt dryness in my throat as I quickly lowered my head because the effect his emerald eyes had on me was so overwhelming that it felt like I was about to weaken to my knees.

"Why are you apologizing? Are you trying to apologize for the passport being torn when you are not even the cause of it. My dear Irene, there are some limits to how silent and weak you should be! Why in the world would you blame yourself for something that you didn't commit " Xavier said while staring at my eyes with passion evident in his eyes.

I suddenly lowered my head as he removed his hands away from my cheeks. I heaved out a sigh because as much as I wanted to talk, the words weren't forthcoming and the only thing I could do was to keep my head ducked.

Maybe he was right, maybe I didn't have to act weak all the time before brats like Kourtney. But I knew that wouldn't be possible because Kourtney literally had half of Xavier's pack under her control despite not being a member of Xavier's pack.

"I know I shouldn't be saying that I am sorry but I had plans for Scotland so I am sorry that I couldn't achieve my plans. I am apologizing to myself and not exactly tiy, Alpha Xavier"

Xavier bursted out in hysterical laughter, clapping his hands together as he laughed uncontrollably. My brows furrowed in confusion, wondering if I said anything funny for him to start laughing without a stop. Every part of me wanted to snarl at him for laughing at my pain but I held myself back and lowered my head because I didn't even have the nerves to snarl or yell at him.

Xavier was someone with a mercurial temperament and one could never know what to expect because he was pretty unpredictable. He cleared his throat when he was done laughing and when he was finally able to get a grip of himself.

"I am sorry for laughing like that! Wait for a second, what gave you the idea that your passport and visa being ruined totally meant that you wouldn't be going to Scotland? How would that happen when I am still alive and not dead? Have you forgotten my name? I am Xavier!" He chuckled lightly while I kept my gaze fixed on him with confusion evident on my face because how in the world was it possible to go to another country without a passport or a visa.

Was he on some crack or was it that he hasn't totally healed and that was the reason why he was saying gibberish words. I gulped on my spittle, trying to change the topic because I was damn sure that Xavier wasn't in his right senses.

I decided to change the conversation because I didn't have the time to explode in anger before him because he was beginning to annoy me and it was more like he was mocking me despite knowing the pain that I was going through at the moment.

"Alpha Xavier, are you finally okay now? I mean last night, you had a really high temperature" I asked, hoping to divert from the topic.

As if he could read my mind, he squinted his eyes at me suspiciously.

"Why are you trying to change the topic? Do you think that I am trying to mock you by saying that there's an alternative way? " He asked as a slight frown formed on his face.

"I am sorry" I ducked my head, wondering how he managed to know what was going on in his mind.

"For your information, I want you to know that not all hope is gone because we would be going on my private jet."
