Chapter 71 Seventy one

Irene's P.O.V
I was at a loss for words to say, wondering what could be wrong with Xavier as he fell on me. What took me by surprise was his body temperature which was surprisingly so hot.
Was he sick all along? Was he the one who flashed light right on my face? What could have caused him to faint like that and why the hell was his temperature so hot that it looked like he could bake thousands of bread at that rate? Different thoughts raced through my head as I slowly hit him on the cheek, whispering for him to stand his feet.
I knew that I should be screaming at the moment but Kourtney finding me with her man in the middle of the night would be like inviting trouble to one's self with one's hands. "This is sick" I hissed as my face contorted in a frown while running my hands through my hair frustratedly. With all the thoughts that ran through my head, I had no idea about what to do with Xavier because abandoning him in the kitchen wasn't right in any way.
If only I hadn't come to the kitchen for anything then I wouldn't be in the kind of a mess at the moment. Squeezing my eyes shut, I ran my hands through my hair for the umpteenth time while contemplating what to do and how to help Xavier. The thing was that I needed him to get well as soon as possible because we were literally leaving for Scotland in the morning and how could he just faint like that?
"Alpha Xavier, please get up" I cried as tears welled up in my eyes.
What could be wrong with him for him to just lose consciousness like that? I needed to do everything to make sure that he woke up soon enough because how was I going to escape if he doesn't get to leave for Scotland tomorrow? I knew that I wouldn't be able to go alone and the only thing that could help matters was if I helped me to stand to regain consciousness.
"Should I just splash water on his face?" I thought to myself as I glanced back and forth between him and the sink.
I gritted my teeth because it was starting to ache. I walked towards the kitchen sink in haste and took a bowl of water. I knelt carefully beside him and different thoughts flooded my head as I stared at his emotionless face.
Xavier was lucky that I wasn't a cold-hearted person. If not, he would have met his end because I would have killed him for snatching my life away from me and I would have taken Erior's revenge on him but from the way Steve flared up when he caught me hugging Xavier, I was thinking that he was annoyed with the fact that I was in the embrace of someone that I was supposed to hate but with everything that he said, I could see that it was for the fact of he was annoyed that I was uncomfortable around Xavier and I think that Erior was still in love with him.
I dipped my hands inside the bowl of water and sprinkled water on his face."Alpha Xavier " I called, placing my hands on my lap while hoping and praying that he regains consciousness as soon and fast as possible.
Slowly, his eyes flicked open while he heaved a sigh of relief, placing my hands on my chest because of the way it raced. Tears glistened in my eyes and I had no idea why tears formed in my eyes.
I cleaned my face with the back of my hands, sniffling in my tests as I helped him stand on his feet. He hung his hands over my shoulder and exhaled as he squeezed me tightly on the shoulder.
Tears trickled down his face and I loved the fact that we both didn't say a word.
However, I wanted to ask him what could have caused him to stay in the kitchen all alone because when I first saw him, it looked like he was extremely worried about something. I also wanted to ask him if he would still be able to make it to the trip to Scotland.
"Alpha Xavier, would you still be able to make it to Scotland tomorrow, don't you think that you should rest at home and recuperate before leaving for Scotland," I said intentionally because I wanted to bring the words out of his mouth.
Deep down, I sincerely hoped that he wouldn't cancel the trip and I wished that whatever was wrong with him wouldn't be that serious to the extent of it caused him to cancel the trip.
He let out a soft chuckle, breathing heavily.
"Irene, I am perfectly fine and okay! I just got stressed and tired and actually, this isn't a new thing. I mean that my fainting happens almost all the time"
My mouth was agape as I turned to look at him. "You don't mean it, Alpha Xavier! That means that you must be ill somehow. It might be a life-threatening illness and if you don't get yourself diagnosed, how would you be able to know what could cause you to lose consciousness all the time"
He turned to look at me while a smile that faltered formed on his face. He averted his gaze from me and looked in another direction as he reached his hands for the switch and switched off the light.
My eyes twitched while trying to process why he switched off the light when we were still in the kitchen.
"Alpha Xavier, what are you trying to do? How would I be able to see and take you back to your room when you switched off the light" I said and even though I was trying so hard to not be rude, anger was still evident in my voice.
He squeezed me on the shoulder as his eyes gleamed in the darkness. "Irene, please just stay with me in the silence"
