Chapter 9
Lila had wanted to expose Alexander, but when she opened her mouth, what came out was. "Yes, Grandma, I did say that. I feel Mr. Sinclair and I aren't very familiar with each other yet, so we should have more private space to get to know each other."
Lila thought she was such a coward.
Hearing this, Gaia smiled. "What Lila said makes sense."
Then she looked at Alexander. "See how understanding Lila is? You better cherish her."
Alexander responded without changing his expression. "I know, Grandma. Don't worry."
After saying this, he didn't forget to pour juice into her glass. "Get some vitamin C. Drink more."
Lila looked at him sweetly. "Thank you, dear."
The word "dear" made Alexander raise his eyebrows almost imperceptibly.
Gaia didn't notice Alexander's expression change. She only saw the harmonious scene between them and smiled with relief.
Although Isadora had just spoken up for Alexander and Arabella, seeing this scene, she still complained in a low voice to Vivienne sitting beside her. "Men are so fickle."
Vivienne smiled meaningfully. "Alexander is loyal enough. For some things, don't just believe what you see."
Isadora snorted and continued eating.
While eating, Gaia thought of something else. "Oh right, Lila, you just said you and your friend are looking for work, which means you don't have a job right now?"
"Yes, Grandma."
"What did you major in?"
Lila answered honestly. "International Economics and Trade."
Gaia quickly said. "There are plenty of jobs matching that major at the Sinclair Group! Let Alex arrange a position for you at the Sinclair Group. That's much better than struggling out there."
Lila was stunned.
That probably wasn't a good idea, right?
Never mind that Alexander definitely wouldn't agree—Lila didn't want to face that cold expression all day at work either.
"Positions matching Lila's major aren't hiring right now." Alexander immediately rejected Gaia's suggestion.
Gaia wouldn't give up and pressed on. "Then which positions in the company are hiring?"
"No positions are hiring."
"I don't care. You must arrange a job for Lila at the Sinclair Group. I don't believe such a big company has no suitable position for her."
Alexander didn't respond.
Gaia pressed. "Did you hear me?"
"I know." Alexander replied reluctantly. After speaking, he looked at Lila. "Do you have a driver's license?"
"I do, but..."
Lila hadn't driven since getting her license.
However, before she could finish, Alexander interrupted her.
Alexander said in a commanding tone. "I happen to need a driver. You'll do it."
When Gaia heard Alexander wanted Lila to be a driver, her expression changed. "You brat, are you trying to make me die of anger? Out of all the positions available, you want Lila to be a driver? What are you thinking?"
"All jobs are equal."
After seriously spouting this nonsense, Alexander turned to look at Lila. "I believe such a good girl as Lila has the right values, so she won't think being a driver is embarrassing, right?"
Lila's mouth twitched. "Right."
After all, she'd never driven before anyway.
As long as Alexander wasn't afraid to die and dared to ride with her, she dared to drive. Who's afraid of who?
Arabella smiled and said to Gaia. "Grandma, don't overthink it. Since Lila is willing, then driver it is. This way Alexander and Lila can be together going to and from work, which will help develop their relationship."
Perhaps the point about "developing their relationship" struck a chord with Gaia. She snorted coldly and stopped dwelling on the issue.
After lunch, everyone sat in the living room chatting.
After chatting for a while, Gaia suddenly stood up and looked at Alexander. "Alex, come walk with me in the garden. I have something to tell you."
"Okay." Alexander responded and stood up.
