Chapter 46
When Lila first heard John say "your husband is here," she was a bit confused for a moment.
After being dazed briefly, she realized it was Alexander who had arrived.
She glanced through the rearview mirror at the car behind them. It was indeed the one he'd driven to work with her that morning.
The car had already pulled into the side road and stopped in a parking spot.
Lila couldn't help but wonder. "Why did he come here? Shouldn't the Sinclair Group have tons of things waiting for him to handle?"
John kept his usual Playboy teasing manner. "He's definitely not here for me."
Lila pressed her lips together slightly.
It couldn't possibly be that he came for her either.
In Alexander's eyes, what kind of nobody was she anyway?
"Let's get out and ask him what he wants."
"Oh, okay."
As Lila unbuckled her seatbelt, she was still thinking about how Alexander always claimed his time was so precious and valuable.
If that was the case, why wasn't he working properly during office hours, but instead driving all the way out to this deserted road?
What was he thinking?
He couldn't possibly think she would actually develop something with John, could he?
If so, he was really underestimating her, and his thoughts were pretty disgusting.
After getting out of the car, she and John walked toward Alexander together.
Seeing the girl registered under his name walking toward him side by side with John, Alexander instantly felt a surge of inexplicable anger. Having John teach Lila to drive was truly the worst idea Grandma had ever come up with.
When Lila got closer and looked at Alexander, she just felt his expression wasn't great.
So she didn't dare take the initiative to speak to him.
After all, when communicating with this man, you never knew what kind of harsh words he'd come out with next.
John, probably being more familiar with him, looked at him with a smile and clicked his tongue: "How does our busy Mr. Sinclair have time to come to this deserted road? Something up?"
Alexander glanced at him: "Am I not a person then?"
Hearing this retort, Lila instantly felt her earlier choice to keep quiet was a brilliant decision.
John laughed: "I might really not be a person - I'm your idol. What, missed me and came specially to see me?"
Alexander ignored him and glanced at Lila: "Are you mute? You see me and don't say anything?"
Lila was stunned, not expecting that staying quiet hadn't saved her from his attack either.
Lila curved her lips and asked, "Why did you come here?"
Alexander's brow furrowed.
What kind of tone was this woman using with him?
What did she mean "why did you come here"?
Alexander's gaze swept over her coolly, "What, is this road yours? I can't come here?"
"No, I'm just asking casually."
"That's pretty casual all right."
Seeing Alexander's attitude and tone, John immediately understood something.
He deliberately stepped forward to stand in front of Lila, acting like he was protecting her: "Come on, why are you picking on a young girl? If you have harsh words to say, say them to me."
Alexander instantly became even more annoyed. "What business is it of yours when we husband and wife are talking? What are you to her anyway?"
"Now you remember you're husband and wife. If you're husband and wife, why don't you teach her to drive yourself? You can't even speak a sentence to her without being so irritable. What girl could stand a man like you?"
Listening to John's words, Lila not only felt no gratitude, but instead felt she'd probably die an even worse death after he left.
With Alexander's way of thinking, he might even assume she'd done something to win John over, making his friend of many years stand on the same side as someone he'd only known for a few days.
To avoid dying too ugly a death, Lila took a step forward, stood beside Alexander, tilted her head slightly and looked up at him: "Boss, did you come to watch us practice driving?"
