Chapter 272
Chapter 272
Alexander glanced at her, "So Mrs. Sinclair, you're saying you'll miss me after the divorce?"
"No, I just think having something constantly in front of my eyes inevitably affects my mood."
"I promised to buy the wedding rings, so I'll definitely get them for you."
Lila fell silent and turned to look out the window.
If Alexander didn't care for her, what was the point of having wedding rings?
She didn't care for them.
At the airport.
Lila pushed open the car door and got out.
Alexander also got out, walked to the trunk to get his suitcase, and when he looked at Lila, he found she had already walked to the driver's side. Without even glancing at him, she was about to pull open the door and get in.
He strode over, grabbed her wrist, pressed her against the car, and looked down at her with some displeasure in his eyes, "Mrs. Sinclair, your husband is going abroad and might not be back for several days. You're just going to leave like this?"
"Yeah, what about it?"
"Don't you have anything to say to me?"
She didn't.
But Lila thought for a moment and still said, "Have a safe trip."
He pressed on, "Anything else?"
Lila shook her head, "No, that's it."
He touched her hair, "Be good and wait for me at home. I'll be back soon, okay?"
She removed his hand and said flatly, "Just take care of your business abroad, no need to rush back. Think of it as giving me a few more days off."
"Is that what a wife should say to her husband when they're parting?"
"I know you have things to handle. Isn't it right to be considerate of you?"
Alexander's gaze deepened as he looked at her, "Are you upset?"
She immediately denied it, "No."
This was probably the first time Lila had shown her temper in front of him. Alexander suddenly felt an urge to kiss her, so he actually leaned down toward her. Just as their lips were about to touch, she suddenly turned her head away.
He frowned.
Lila smiled as if nothing had happened, "You should go now, or you'll miss your flight."
Alexander grabbed her chin and turned her face back, staring at her intently, "Mrs. Sinclair, we hug after work, and today I'm going abroad, so we hug now."
With that, he reached out to hold her.
Lila stepped back, dodging him, "There are so many people here, let's skip it."
"This is the rule we agreed on. You want to go back on it?"
"You're the one going abroad and missing our usual hug time. The fault is yours, not mine. I have the right to decide whether to hug or not, don't I?"
Having navigated the business world for years, how could Alexander not understand what was going on after watching Lila's reactions and behavior over the past hour or two?
He curved his lips, "I'm going abroad to find Celeste, and you're upset?"
She froze, not expecting him to bring up his ex-girlfriend with her.
After recovering, the woman smiled faintly, "No, you've been looking for Miss Phillips for so long. Now that you finally have news of her, of course you should go. I have no right to be upset."
Alexander pressed on, "If that's the case, why have you been so cold this whole time?"
Lila didn't want to keep going back and forth with him endlessly, so she made up an excuse, "You stood me up on buying the wedding rings. I'm not in the best mood."
He patiently reassured her, "That's my fault. I'll definitely make it up to you, okay?"
She answered flatly, "Got it. You should go now."
"Okay." As soon as the word left his mouth, he turned around.
Lila breathed a sigh of relief, thinking he was finally leaving.
But who knew Alexander would suddenly turn back around, stride back to her in a few steps, clasp the back of her head with his large hand, and kiss her forcefully. His tongue even invaded her mouth, sweeping through it freely.
