Chapter 240
"I'm just asking," she responded indifferently.
Alexander looked down at her,"The only reason I care what you do is because you're Mrs. Sinclair, a member of the Sinclair family. If you do anything immoral, it's the entire Sinclair family that loses face, and the Sinclair family cannot afford to lose face!"
Hearing this, Lila didn't argue back. She assured him with complete certainty: "Boss, don't worry. During our marriage, I absolutely won't do anything to embarrass you. And so far, all the men who've expressed interest in me don't measure up to you in any way. I definitely won't like them. If I were to like anyone, it would be you."
"If? You sound so reluctant."
"Not reluctant. You're the best and most outstanding man in the world. I mainly wanted to say that compared to them, I'd rather like you. You beat every single one of them."
Even though she'd racked her brain and said everything she could think of, Alexander still wasn't satisfied: "Those flies think they can compare to me?"
Lila: "..."
What should she say to calm him down?
She'd really exhausted her entire vocabulary.
Lila simply lowered her head and pressed her lips together in silence.
Seeing her become docile, Alexander's rationality returned a bit. He suddenly remembered he still needed to have a child with her, and his attitude softened somewhat: "I did say before that I'd become somewhat interested in you, but Lila, this interest isn't enough to make me jealous over you with those second-rate men. You understand?"
Second-rate men?
Though Ethan's family couldn't compare to Alexander's, they were still middle class. Chris himself was quite excellent—he'd studied abroad and was extremely well-mannered. And then there was Wesley who'd hit on her today—he was at least the executive president of a famous semiconductor company.
Which of these men was second-rate?
Lila had some objections to Alexander's assessment, but she didn't contradict him. She obediently nodded and dropped a single word: "Understood."
"Good that you understand."
"Yes!"
She kept her head lowered, and when she responded to him, she looked completely like "whatever you say is right," which made Alexander feel bored instead.
His face tight, he suddenly ordered her,"Lift your head. Look at me."
Lila raised her head and asked in confusion: "What's wrong?"
Alexander sneered coldly, his indifferent and arrogant gaze falling on her face as he awkwardly dropped a sentence: "Wesley hitting on you made me very unhappy."
"So what should we do?"
"Shouldn't that be your problem to solve? I'm giving you five minutes to figure out how to make me feel better."
Lila felt somewhat helpless with Alexander.
Why was Alexander, who owned the Sinclair Group and had dominated the business world for years, so childish?
She'd never seen any man tell a woman he was unhappy and demand she make him feel better.
"Thirty seconds have passed." Seeing her silent for so long, Alexander reminded her coldly.
Lila snapped back to attention and met his gaze,"Boss, do you have any suggestions or ideas? You know yourself best after all. Can you tell me and I'll do it? I'm not that smart—I really don't know how to make you feel better."
"If I tell you, you'll do it?"
"If it's a reasonable and normal request, I can do it."
Alexander's lips curved slightly, his gaze deepening as he looked at her: "You're my wife, I'm your husband. If I told you to agree to sleep with me to make me feel better, would you be willing?"
