Chapter 235
The silence deepened the moment Wesley finished speaking.
Lila's confusion deepened with it. This was barely their first meeting, so why had he said something so firm and intense? It was unsettling, and it only made the
already fragile dynamic between her and Alexander worse.
Why would he say something so firm and intense?
It was pretty scary, and it made the already tense relationship between her and Alexander even worse.
Lila sneaked a glance at Alexander.
His handsome face showed no expression, only his calm eyes revealed an extremely cold indifference. Looking at Wesley, Alexander laughed carelessly, "You mean, even if she gets married, you'll wait until the day she gets divorced?"
Lila really didn't want to hear Wesley answer this question.
She was even more afraid he'd say something else terrifying.
Fortunately, he remained rational for now, "Mr. Sinclair, haven't we gotten off track here? I'm telling you this just to express that I'm not really trying to steal your driver."
Alexander scoffed lightly, "Indeed, you don't want my driver."
What you fucking want is my wife!
Alexander clenched his back teeth, staring at Wesley, "Is Mr. Morris finished talking?"
"Yes, I'm finished. I hope Mr. Sinclair will reconsider the partnership with Washington Tech."
"We can discuss the partnership later. If Mr. Morris has no other questions, you can leave the Sinclair Group now."
Wesley studied Alexander for a few seconds, finding it impossible to clearly read his true thoughts about the partnership from his face. But since he was now asking him to leave, it wouldn't be appropriate to stay, so he said, "Alright, I won't stay here and waste any more of Mr. Sinclair's time. We'll be in touch about the partnership."
Alexander said nothing, but gestured toward the lounge door.
Wesley started to leave.
Before stepping out of the lounge, he turned back to look at Lila, his eyes serious and steady, "Miss Grace, pardon my boldness today."
Lila smiled awkwardly, "Take care, Mr. Morris."
"I'll wait for your call."
Lila didn't dare respond to that.
All she could think was "please just leave."
Wait for her call?
Wait for her to call on Alexander's behalf to tell him the partnership was off?
The lounge door opened and closed, and Wesley finally left.
Lila stared at his retreating figure. After he and his assistant left the CEO's office and completely disappeared from view, she finally breathed a sigh of relief.
However, just as she was about to relax, a voice full of oppressive tension pulled her right back up, "Lila."
She immediately looked at Alexander, her eyes showing grievance, innocently stating, "Boss, this has nothing to do with me."
He ignored her words completely, his gaze dropping to her hand holding Wesley's business card.
Lila followed his gaze, then very sensibly handed him the card, "Here's the card."
Alexander hadn't expected her to be so cooperative.
For a moment, he laughed mockingly, then roughly yanked the card from her hand and swiftly tossed it in the trash.
Lila's eyes flicked to the bin.
"What," his voice dropped low and sharp, "want to fish it out?"
"No," she said quickly. "Not at all."
Alexander snorted coldly, stepped closer to her, his low voice full of displeasure, "Picking up a package, and you manage to hook the Executive President of Washington Tech. I didn't know Mrs. Sinclair was so talented."
Lila explained, "I just accidentally bumped into him, it wasn't on purpose."
His slightly raised tone carried a casual kind of danger, "Not on purpose?"
