Chapter 230
Nina was clearly on guard against Lila and casually remarked, "Mr. Sinclair is more of a perfectionist."
Lila stepped closer to her. "Don't give me that official line. I want the truth."
Nina turned her head to meet her gaze, a half-smile on her face. "You won't rat me out to Mr. Sinclair, will you?"
Lila said firmly, "Absolutely not! I have major issues with him."
"Why? You're just driving for Mr. Sinclair. It shouldn't be that bad, right?"
"It's terrible."
Nina looked at her, confused. "You're just a driver. How could Mr. Sinclair possibly give you a hard time?"
Lila sighed. "If you can think of it, he can do it. And if you can't think of it, he can still do it. Look, he even finds fault with making coffee. You secretaries in the executive office must get tortured by him all the time too, right?"
Now that Lila had spoken ill of Alexander first, Nina grew bolder and started venting. "Oh, don't even get me started—it's a tale of tears. You have no idea, we don't even dare look at Mr. Sinclair directly."
"Why not?"
"A colleague once looked at Mr. Sinclair a bit too long, and Mr. Sinclair fired her for 'having designs on her superior'."
Lila's face showed shock. "What? No way!"
Nina chuckled. "Surprising, right? There's more. Another colleague missed a single punctuation mark on a schedule she submitted to Mr. Sinclair, and he demoted her and cut her pay on the spot."
Lila was utterly amazed by Alexander's pickiness.
What a shocker.
Nina saw Lila's reaction was exactly what she'd expected and smiled.
The coffee was ready. She handed the cup to her. "I won't keep you. Hurry up and take this coffee to Mr. Sinclair, or he might fire you too if he's not satisfied."
"Okay, I'll go right now."
Nina nodded.
Lila carried the coffee cup and walked in a daze to the CEO's office door. Through the glass door, she looked at Alexander sitting upright on the sofa inside, then thought about the Alexander who lived with her at Island Mansion. She really couldn't imagine he had such a harsh side.
Firing someone for looking at him too long?
Demoting and cutting pay over a punctuation mark?
If he was so strict, why did he seem so tolerant with her at home?
For the first time, Lila felt a bit narcissistic thinking that maybe in Alexander's mind, because of her status as Mrs. Sinclair, she was indeed unique in his eyes and worthy of special treatment..
Pulling herself together, she pushed open the office door, walked to the sofa, and handed him the coffee. "Boss, here's the fresh coffee."
"Put it down."
"Okay."
Lila complied. She set the cup down, but before she could ask to leave, Alexander spoke., "Go back to your area."
"Yes, boss." She responded and cheerfully turned to walk toward the driver's lounge.
Wesley glanced at the fresh coffee Lila had made, then from the corner of his eye caught sight of her retreating figure. As she moved away,, he noticed for the first time that Alexander's office had a separate area partitioned off.
This was Lila's place?
The glass door to that area even had 'Driver's Lounge'written on it.
He raised an eyebrow, quite surprised.
Alexander's indifferent voice sounded at just the right moment. "What is Mr. Morris looking at?"
Wesley snapped out out of thought his thoughtsand smiled at him. "I didn't expect the suit to have a specially designed driver's lounge. Very thoughtful—worth learning from."
"Female drivers are delicate. Appropriate care when necessary is reasonable. This also reflects the Sinclair Group's efforts as a top-tier company to provide employee welfare."
