Chapter 199
Alexander looked at her with an ambiguous smile. "Guess?"
Lila said flatly, "Don't make me guess. I can't figure it out. If I could, I wouldn't be asking you."
He chuckled softly. "Then should I tell you?"
"I'm listening."
"Actually, I already told you the reason last night. I've become a bit interested in you, and I plan to be a normal married couple with you. For a normal couple, it's basic for a husband to care about his wife, isn't it?"
She looked into his deep eyes and asked softly, "Are you serious?"
Alexander's lips curved up as he answered with clear emphasis, "Couldn't be more serious. Especially after kissing you last night, I think I'm getting a bit addicted to you."
Lila's face flushed red instantly.
She was only 22 and had never really been in a relationship, so every time she heard Alexander speak so directly and boldly about certain things, she couldn't help but feel shy.
After returning to her room yesterday, she knew that the kissing and hugging wouldn't escape being brought up by him again.
And today, sure enough, here it was.
Lost in thought, Alexander pressed on, "What do you think?"
"What do I think about what?"
"I want to be a normal married couple with you. I'm interested in you. Shouldn't you feel honored?"
Lila felt somewhat helpless about Alexander's pride and arrogance again.
She smiled slightly. "Boss, you're really full of yourself."
Alexander frowned slightly, staring at her as he reminded, "Don't call me 'boss' at home."
"Okay."
"If I hear you call me 'boss' at home again, I'll kiss you."
Lila shrank her neck in fear.
As she thought to herself that this was completely unnecessary, the corners of his lips curved into a meaningful smile, and with a provocative, naked gaze fixed on her, he added, "Kiss you until you beg for mercy."
Lila tightened her grip on the utensils. "Just eat your breakfast. You'll be late for work."
Oh my god.
What crime had she committed to end up with a man as shameless and narcissistic as Alexander?
After breakfast, Lila cleared away the dishes.
Coming out of the kitchen, she walked to the living room sofa and said to him, "I'm all done cleaning up. Should we go to work?"
Alexander raised an eyebrow. "Are you talking to me?"
"Yes."
"Why is there no form of address? I told you not to call me 'boss,' so now you don't call me anything?"
Lila pressed her lips together and said indifferently, "You know I'm talking to you. The form of address isn't important."
Alexander insisted on being particular with Lila. "I think it's important."
She was a bit speechless, but considering he'd exempted her from cooking, she obediently said, "Honey, are you going to work now?"
Alexander's lips curved with satisfaction. "There's still time, no rush. If I remember correctly, I said yesterday that we should kiss when leaving in the morning?"
Lila's expression froze.
He raised an eyebrow. "What, you forgot?"
"I didn't forget," she said.
Yesterday, Alexander had only said they should kiss when leaving in the morning and hug when returning in the evening.
He hadn't said who kisses whom, or who hugs whom.
To avoid unnecessary arguments, she steeled herself and asked him, "Who kisses whom?"
Alexander's eyebrows carried a smile as he threw the question back at her. "Well, that depends on Mrs. Sinclair, doesn't it?"
Lila didn't understand what game he was playing and asked flatly, "Why does it depend on me? Aren't all the decisions between us made by you?"
"I do decide, but I can ask for your opinion as a reference."
"Is that so?"
Acting all democratic about it.
But Lila knew perfectly well that what she said didn't matter at all.
Alexander was really something, pretending to be respectful, when in reality, he never considered her feelings.
As Lila was complaining internally, Alexander stood up.
He walked in front of her, looked down at her, and his sexy, thin lips parted. "So, Mrs. Sinclair, do you prefer to kiss me, or prefer to be kissed by me?"
