Chapter 196
In Alexander's deep gaze, there was nothing but a man's most primal desire and impulse to completely possess a woman.
Lila stared into his eyes, and for a moment, her heartbeat sped up uncontrollably.
She had never seen such eyes before—full of desire yet calm and restrained. Experiencing it for the first time, she only felt terrified and panicked.
In her nervousness, Lila's mind was filled with nothing but the urge to hide and escape.
So, while Alexander was waiting for her answer, she suddenly pushed him away.
Lila got off the couch, stood up straight, tried to control her wildly beating heart, and stammered, "B-boss, I'm sleepy and tired. I'm going back to my room now. See... see you tomorrow."
With that, she turned and ran toward the stairs.
The woman's movements were so flustered and rushed that she stumbled midway and nearly fell, making Alexander's heart skip a beat as he watched her retreating figure.
Only after she safely went upstairs and hid in her room did Alexander, still standing in place, allow himself a slight smile.
He raised his hand, his thumb landing on his lower lip, slowly moving from right to left, savoring the soft sweetness he had just felt, his dark eyes narrowing.
Alexander had never imagined that he too would have moments of being consumed by desire.
After Lila returned to her bedroom, she couldn't calm down.
She pressed her lips together slightly. Between breaths, she seemed to still smell Alexander's lingering scent. Her mind uncontrollably replayed the image of Alexander's loss of control when he kissed her.
That was the first time Lila had seen desire coloring his face.
Impulsive, restrained, suppressed, intense yet forbidden.
She couldn't accurately describe how she felt at this moment—only that her face was flushed, her heart racing, unable to find peace.
Lila began to wonder how she would face Alexander tomorrow.
Would he, as usual, grab onto the fact that they had hugged and kissed, and repeatedly ask her all sorts of strange questions?
She tossed and turned in bed, and finally sent a message to Elara.
[Elara, I have a question for you.]
Elara replied quickly: [What's up?]
Lila: [I have a friend who was kissed by a man. She finds it hard to believe and doesn't know how to face him.]
Elara: [Which friend?]
Lila's eyebrow twitched as she replied: [Is that the point?]
Elara: [Then ask your friend—when she was kissed, did she feel disgusted or did she enjoy it?]
Lila: [Not disgusted, but can't say I enjoyed it either. Just very surprised, very nervous. Besides that, my heart was racing and my face turned red.]
As soon as the message was sent, Elara called her on video.
Lila was so startled she immediately jumped up from the bed, fixed her hair, let out a breath, and then answered. Seeing Elara on the screen, she smiled, "Why did you suddenly call?"
"Mr. Sinclair kissed you?"
Lila was left speechless by Elara's sharp intuition.
Seeing her stunned expression, Elara knew she had guessed right, "I was wondering why you suddenly disappeared while we were chatting. Turns out you went off to kiss Alexander."
Lila couldn't find words for a moment.
She pressed her lips together. "I already said it was a friend."
Elara glared at her. "Lila, with our relationship, do you really need to make up a friend?"
Okay, she really didn't.
She and Elara had never kept secrets from each other. This time, she only played this little trick because the matter was too embarrassing to talk about directly.
Lila stared at Elara on the screen and sighed helplessly, "Then tell me what I should do."
Elara didn't answer but asked instead, "Have you fallen for Mr. Sinclair?"
