Chapter 133
Lila cleared the dining table and went upstairs.
She was planning to go back to her bedroom, but then she remembered her book was still in the study. Since Alexander wasn't in the study right now, she slipped in to get it.
Lila never expected that when she entered the study, she would see her book thrown on the floor.
When she walked over to pick it up, she also noticed there was a big footprint on her book!
Alexander actually took out his anger on her book?
Is this something a CEO of an international company would do?
For the first time, Lila felt that this seemingly noble Alexander was actually so childish.
No, wait—stupid!
She picked up her book, patted the spot with the footprint, and walked toward the study door with her head down, not really watching where she was going.
So when her head bumped into a wall of flesh, it took her a moment to figure out what had happened.
Lila rubbed her forehead and looked up, only to see Alexander's cold, indifferent face. She froze for a moment.
Of course, he saw her too!
Alexander just gave her an extremely cold glance, then looked away and walked into the study as if nothing had happened, forcefully closing the study door.
Lila felt so embarrassed she wanted to disappear.
Was he giving her attitude?
What for?
Lila glared hard at the study door, then went back to her bedroom.
As soon as she entered her bedroom, her phone rang.
It was Ethan sending her a message, confirming the time for their evening meeting.
Lila suggested 6:30, because she figured by that time, Alexander should have already left.
Ethan agreed.
After reaching an agreement, Lila lay on her bedroom bed, plugged in her phone to charge, forgot about the little unpleasantness with Alexander, and started watching shows.
The whole afternoon, Island Mansion was very quiet. Lila didn't hear Alexander make any noise.
Of course, she didn't leave her bedroom either.
At around 5:50, there was movement in the hallway outside.
Lila perked up her ears to listen.
She heard him going downstairs, heard the front door opening and closing, then heard the car engine starting and driving away.
He was gone.
Lila checked the time—5:55.
She got up from the bed, changed her clothes, and quickly put on some light makeup.
After getting ready, right before leaving, Lila went to the bathroom.
……
Lila saw Ethan at the restaurant entrance.
When she walked over, she asked him, "Have you guys been here long?"
"No, we just got here."
"Where are your parents?"
Ethan said calmly, "They're in a private room in the restaurant. Lila, don't worry. No matter what they ask later, I'll help you out. If there's anything you must answer yourself, just improvise. Also, in front of my parents, call me Ethy, don't call me Ethan anymore—it sounds too distant and they'll get suspicious."
"Okay."
After responding, Lila couldn't help but say, "This is my first time doing something like this. I'm pretty nervous."
Ethan smiled. "Don't be nervous. My parents are nice people."
She nodded.
Ethan raised his hand. "Why don't you hold my arm when we go in? That way it looks more intimate, like we're a real couple."
"Do we have to? Holding arms on the first meeting with parents feels a bit..."
"You're right, never mind then."
Lila nodded.
She and Ethan entered the restaurant together. Ethan said his parents were in private room number six.
When Lila and he were heading to room six, they passed room five. Out of the corner of her eye, she glimpsed a figure inside that looked very familiar. Instinctively, she turned her head to look, and with that one look, she saw Alexander and Julie.
