Chapter 129
Lila asked cautiously, "Why are you bringing this up again out of nowhere?"
Instead of answering, Alexander countered in a negotiating tone, "Tell me, what will it take for you to have a child with me?"
Seeing how persistent he was about this question, and that it had been brought up enough times already, Lila decided to discuss it with him seriously. "Actually, it's quite simple."
"Is that so? Let's hear it."
"Having a child only requires me to consider three things. First, whether the father and I agree on all the various issues involved in raising a child. Second, whether I love my child's father. Third, whether my child's father loves me."
Alexander looked at her coolly and spoke with utter disdain, "So you're saying that for you to have a child, I'd have to love you?"
"So what? If you don't love me, we don't have to have one."
"You've got some nerve to even think that."
Was that really such a bold thought?
Wasn't that just basic?
Lila stared at him and said, "Most normal couples in this world have children because they love each other, right? I'm a normal person, why can't I want that? Just because you're exceptional and look down on me and won't love me, does that mean I can't want it? It's not like you're the only person I can have children with. After the divorce, I'll meet a man who loves me, and I can have children with him then."
Alexander listened to her words and tried to imagine that scenario.
A year later, after their divorce, she'd be with someone else. Ethan, Chris, or whoever, getting together, getting married, having children.
Just thinking about it made his expression darken.
A woman who had been with Alexander, who he had kissed and held, already bore his mark. The thought of her getting close to someone else for no good reason really irritated him, like a business deal being snatched away. It was a challenge to his authority.
Alexander's gaze on her gradually became dark and menacing.
When Lila finished speaking, her eyes hadn't yet left Alexander.
Now, seeing his fierce look, she was a bit scared and said carefully, "Why are you looking at me like that? I'm just telling the truth. I can't just never remarry after our divorce and die alone, can I?"
As she spoke, her voice somehow carried a hint of grievance. "I'm only 22 this year. When I divorce you next year, I'll only be 23. I still have the best years of my life ahead of me. I can't spend the rest of my life alone just because I got married once! Worst case, I won't take that money from the agreement. Either way, I'm definitely going to find someone new after divorcing you."
Alexander suppressed the intense displeasure and anger within him. "Haven't you said enough?"
"Enough, I've made my point pretty clear."
Alexander let out a cold laugh.
Lila didn't know what to say.
What was that cold laugh supposed to mean?
While she was thinking and trying to figure it out, Alexander's large hand suddenly reached over and grabbed her wrist.
Lila looked at him in surprise.
The next second, she was pulled up. In her confusion, before she could even figure out what was happening, she was pulled onto Alexander's lap, and a dry, large palm steadied her waist.
In an instant, Lila's heart was racing so fast it felt like it would jump out of her chest. Without thinking, she tried to get off him.
But the moment her body leaned forward, she was pressed back into Alexander's embrace.
Alexander's deep, complex gaze fell on her face. His thin lips curved slightly as he spoke with noble composure, "Since Mrs. Sinclair wants me to fall in love with you, let's start with the basics."
