Chapter 120
Although she came here with him as his driver, Lila felt that at this moment, she should call him "honey" instead of "boss."
With that thought, she actually said it out loud, "Honey, thank you for getting me out of that situation just now."
He looked down at her and said coolly, "How will you thank me? By giving yourself to me?"
"Wouldn't that be too cliché?"
Alexander let out a cold laugh.
For the first time, Lila felt that a cold laugh from Alexander didn't sound so annoying.
She smiled at him, "Shall we go home?"
Alexander gave a faint acknowledgment and walked around the car to get in the passenger seat.
Lila also bent down and got into the driver's seat.
On the way back to Island Mansion, she was still thinking about how to thank Alexander.
Yesterday she bought him a gift online, which should arrive tomorrow. The gift was originally meant as an apology, but Lila noticed that Alexander didn't seem very angry about her hitting his head, so maybe she didn't need to apologize after all?
In that case, the gift she bought could be a thank-you gift instead?
After deciding this, Lila glanced at Alexander.
He was leaning back in the passenger seat with his eyes closed, resting.
She pressed her lips together and said softly, "Boss, did I ruin your partnership with Mr. Mason?"
Alexander kept his eyes closed and said coldly, "Don't mention him again."
"OK, but did I ruin your multi-million dollar deal negotiation?"
"No."
"But..."
Before she could continue, Alexander interrupted her, "It's always been others trying hard to find opportunities to work with the Sinclair Group. I've never had to beg anyone to work with me. Besides, do you think a scumbag like that deserves to work with me?"
As he spoke, he had already opened his eyes and was looking at Lila.
Hearing this, Lila nodded, "You're right. His morals are terrible. Someone like that doesn't deserve to work with my boss. It would lower my boss's standards."
Alexander let out a light snort and subtly curved his lips.
They happened to reach a red light. Lila hit the brakes and turned to look at him, "Boss, you looked so cool when you threw that glass just now."
Alexander scoffed lightly, "Cool enough to win your heart?"
"Yes, even though I was scared at the time, I was still totally into you. You're already good-looking, but no, the main thing is you were getting me out of that situation, so I felt protected. Would you say that counts as a hero saving a damsel in distress?"
"I'm the hero, but you're not a damsel."
Lila didn't know what to say.
Good for you, you're so great!
But thinking about it, Alexander was so scary when he got angry, yet last night when she hit his head and made him bleed, he didn't really do anything to her.
How did that situation end up being resolved again?
He only had her get the first aid kit and put medicine on his wound.
Now that she thought about it, Lila felt a belated sense of privilege.
If she went by the standard he applied to Mr. Mason today, last night she probably should have been thrown into the sea to feed the fish by Alexander's people.
But why was he a little bit lenient with her?
Was it the privilege granted by her status as Mrs. Sinclair?
Lila couldn't figure it out, but she did feel a strange sense of nervousness.
If it weren't for the contrast with the Mr. Mason incident, she really wouldn't have noticed that the sharp-tongued, difficult, and critical Alexander had actually been going easy on her.
She stole a glance at Alexander, "Why did you help me out of that situation just now? Actually, I had no intention of drinking that wine. I was planning to secretly dump it."
"Why do you think?"
"Because I'm Mrs. Sinclair?"
Alexander snorted coldly. After closing his eyes again, he said with ambiguous meaning, "Because I can't stand watching Mr. Mason hit on innocent young girls."
