Chapter 107
Lila quickly explained, "I specially made lunch for you at home this morning, something light. Dr. Harris said yesterday you should eat light food, remember?"
Alexander glared at her but said nothing and lowered his head.
At that moment, she understood that his look meant agreement—agreement to eat the lunch she made at noon.
She breathed a sigh of relief and turned back to her driver's lounge.
She didn't have driving practice in the morning, so she stayed in the driver's lounge reading. Halfway through, she remembered the lighter she bought on Amazon yesterday and picked up her phone to check the app.
The seller had already shipped it. Pretty efficient.
To apologize to Alexander as soon as possible, she had even paid extra shipping fees yesterday to have the seller send it via FedEx.
Lila put down her phone and was about to continue reading when there was a knock on the CEO's office door.
Curiosity got the better of her, and she looked over.
And what she saw!
She actually saw something interesting.
A woman walked in—the same woman who had tried to invite Alexander to dinner last time and got rejected.
Right, Alexander had said she was the CFO of the Sinclair Group.
When Lila looked at this woman with the eyes of someone evaluating a CFO, she realized the woman was truly beautiful, probably in her thirties, with a quality that was somewhere between young and mature—very unique and attractive.
Just as she was staring, the CFO suddenly looked toward the driver's lounge!
Lila quickly looked away and casually lowered her head to her book.
Then, from the corner of her eye, she saw the CFO withdraw her gaze and walk over to stand in front of Alexander's desk.
Lila looked up again, staring intently in that direction.
Alexander was her husband, after all!
Having such a beautiful and capable CFO in the company who liked her husband made it hard not to pay extra attention.
The CFO soon spoke, "Mr. Sinclair, are you busy?"
Without looking up, Alexander replied in a cold tone with a hint of indifference, "When did Ms. Hill's eyes start having problems? Do you really need to ask something so obvious?"
Lila rolled her eyes and couldn't help complaining internally—
Can't he speak nicely?
However, Ms. Hill didn't seem to mind. She looked at him with concern, "I heard you got injured. Is it serious?"
"Won't kill me."
"How did you hurt your head? Did you go to the hospital for a detailed examination?"
Alexander put down his pen, looked up at Ms. Hill, his eyes cold, "Did you come to see me because there's a work issue?"
"No, I just wanted to check on your injury."
"No need. If there's nothing else, you can go."
Ms. Hill was clearly unwilling to give up, "Mr. Sinclair..."
She wanted to say something, but Alexander didn't give her the chance. His interrupting tone carried a hint of threat, "Or should I fire the employee from the CEO's office who passed you the message?"
Ms. Hill wasn't weak either and wasn't intimidated by Alexander's words.
She said gently, "Mr. Sinclair, you've misunderstood. Someone saw you in the underground parking garage and told me. It wasn't an employee from your CEO's office."
Alexander didn't comment on this and only asked, "Anything else?"
Ms. Hill turned her head and looked toward the lounge.
Lila immediately lowered her head.
However, she still heard Ms. Hill ask Alexander, "Why is there a driver's lounge in your office now? Is our company pioneering the practice of providing lounges for drivers?"
Alexander's voice turned cold, clearly having lost his patience, "Ms. Hill, why are you so talkative today?"
