Chapter 99
When Alexander's cold, bloodthirsty eyes met hers, Lila surprisingly didn't feel scared.
More than fearing what he might do to her, something clearer emerged in her mind at that moment—worry.
She was worried about his injury.
She was worried whether she had accidentally killed him.
Lila immediately stood up from the bed and grabbed his arm to check the wound on his head.
But before she could even touch his hair, Alexander threw her back down again.
Her head spun for a moment. After recovering, she propped herself up on the bed and turned to look at Alexander, "You're bleeding. I want to see how deep the wound is. Otherwise, let me take you to the hospital, okay?"
He glanced at her with contempt, "What's with this fake concern? Afraid I'll get back at you?"
"No, I'm worried about you."
"Worried?"
Alexander was full of disdain, "Where was that worry when you were throwing things at me?"
Lila answered without hesitation, "I didn't think it would be that bad. I just wanted you to stop."
Alexander asked with unclear meaning, "Is that so?"
She answered firmly, "Yes, I really just wanted you to stop. I didn't think you'd bleed. Let me take you to the hospital, okay?"
As Alexander looked at her, his face was full of disgust, "Drop that fake act."
She sat up on the bed and said with her head down, "I'm sorry."
In his fury, Alexander threw one word at her—
"Get out."
Though Lila was timid, she still asked, "But your head..."
He looked at her coldly, "What, I'm willing to let you go, but now you don't want to leave?"
"I want to take you to the hospital."
"Are you leaving or not?"
Lila, who usually liked to avoid him, now shook her head, looking at him with determined eyes, "I'm not leaving. At least let me see how badly you're hurt. If something really happens to you, I'll have let Grandma down."
Alexander stared at her coldly, then suddenly smiled.
Of course, this wasn't a kind smile, but a dark and sinister one.
His handsome face, stained with blood, now carried a decadent beauty. When he spoke, his voice was cold and firm, "I'll give you two choices. First, you sleep with me now, and I'll give you the chance to take me to the hospital. Second, you get out of here. Which one?"
Lila's expression paused slightly as she hesitated.
Seeing the change in her eyes, Alexander knew what she would choose.
He pointed to the door, "Get out."
Lila didn't move.
She didn't want to sleep with Alexander.
But he was injured now, and it was her fault.
Although he still had the strength to curse at her and his voice sounded strong, the bleeding was from his head after all. If he refused to go to the hospital and suffered some irreversible damage from blood loss, wouldn't she become a criminal to the Sinclair family?
Grandma had been so good to her—how could she repay kindness with harm and turn her grandson into a cripple?
After much hesitation, Lila finally looked at him with determined eyes, "What you did just now, forcing me, was wrong. But I shouldn't have hit you."
At this point, she called his full name for the first time, "Alexander Sinclair, I'm sorry. I was wrong. I shouldn't have hit you. I'm really worried about your injury right now. I'm afraid something will happen to you. If going to the hospital requires us to... fulfill our duties as husband and wife, then I accept."
Hearing this, Alexander narrowed his eyes slightly, revealing extremely complex emotions.
