Chapter 80
While Lila was still thinking, Alexander had already strode out of the office on his long legs.
She followed him out.
The staff in the executive office saw the two of them getting into the elevator together and started gossiping again.
"Don't you think Mr. Sinclair and his driver leaving work together kind of look like a couple?"
"A man and a woman, riding in the same car—feels like something could easily happen between them."
"Exactly, especially since our driver looks so sweet, gentle, and young. How could Mr. Sinclair see her every day and not have any thoughts?"
"Everyone knows Mr. Sinclair likes Celeste. You've just been reading too many gossip stories—you think everyone's in a relationship."
"Someone who's nowhere to be found—how can she compete with a driver who's with Mr. Sinclair at work every day? Men's feelings can be pretty fickle."
Underground parking garage.
At Alexander's request, Lila got into the driver's seat.
After driving for the past couple of days though, she wasn't as scared anymore.
As the car pulled out of the parking garage, Lila wondered—should she stop when she saw a pharmacy or something on the road, then get out and buy contraceptives?
But if Alexander didn't say anything and she did this on her own, it would look like she was really looking forward to tonight.
But if she didn't buy them, what if he just went ahead and...
Getting pregnant would be bad.
Lila was torn.
She kept hesitating for a long time, until about ten minutes into the drive, when a phone rang.
It was Alexander's.
Lila glanced over and saw him answer it.
When Alexander spoke, his tone was still indifferent, "What is it?"
The other person suggested, "Want to come out for drinks tonight?"
"Where?"
"The Velvet Lounge."
Alexander made an acknowledging sound, "Right away."
After hanging up, he glanced at Lila in the driver's seat and instructed, "Go to The Velvet Lounge."
"You're not going home?"
"You think you can tell me where to go?"
Lila fell silent.
She was just asking casually.
Not going home was actually good—at least she could get through tonight safely.
Lila felt the crisis had temporarily passed, and even the corners of her mouth curved up in a subtle smile.
She put The Velvet Lounge into the navigation.
Twenty minutes later, the car arrived at the destination.
From outside, Lila could see The Velvet Lounge's lavish decoration, with neon lights sweeping over every passerby. Every now and then, women with hot bodies and well-dressed men would enter through the door.
She couldn't help wondering what Alexander was doing here.
Why did it feel like this wasn't exactly a proper place?
While she was hesitating, he had already gotten out of the car.
Standing outside, Alexander looked toward Lila in the driver's seat, "You get out too."
"What?"
"If you have hearing problems, go to the hospital. Get a hearing aid if you need one. I don't like talking to deaf people."
Lila was left speechless.
With such a sharp tongue, what did he eat growing up?
Although she didn't know why he wanted her to come along, Lila still got out of the car. She happened to be curious about places like nightclubs anyway—she'd never been to one before.
Besides, a nightclub that rich people like Alexander frequented was probably quite different.
As it turned out, it really was different.
The interior of The Velvet Lounge was extremely luxurious, so magnificent it looked like a palace.
Alexander led her to the elevator and pressed the button for the fifth floor.
Although Lila had never been to a place like this, she'd heard that these kinds of places usually had some illegal entertainment activities, and she felt inexplicably worried.
She moved closer to him, staying right next to Alexander, "Honey, do you come here often? What do people usually do at this place? Did your friend ask you here to drink or eat, or..."
After hesitating for two seconds, Lila looked at him with an extremely complicated expression and asked somewhat awkwardly, "For those kinds of transactions?"
