Chapter 229
Wesley turned to look at Alexander, raising his eyebrows slightly.
What did he just say?
Eagerly pursued?
Why didn't he just say it was like flies chasing rotten meat, wouldn't that be more direct?
Wesley smiled. "With Mr. Sinclair holding down the fort in Oceancrest City, would there be room for me? Please don't make fun of me, Mr. Sinclair."
Alexander curved his lips in a light snort.
Lila had already walked over and placed the two cups of coffee in front of the two men.
After doing this, she looked at Alexander and said, "Boss, the coffee is ready. I'm heading back to the break room."
Alexander didn't give permission. Instead, he asked, "I heard you ran into Mr. Morris downstairs just now?"
Lila froze for two seconds before reacting and explaining, "...Oh, that. I wasn't paying attention while carrying my package and accidentally bumped into Mr. Morris. He caught me, otherwise I would have fallen."
Caught her?
Physical contact right after meeting?
Alexander felt even more displeased.
He even recalled how on their first day of getting their marriage certificate, she had thrown herself at him at Island Mansion, also using the almost-falling trick.
Using the same move on two men?
He really wanted to ask her if it worked every time.
While Alexander was internally fuming, his face maintained extreme composure as he elegantly and gracefully picked up his coffee and brought it to his lips.
During this pause, Wesley looked at Lila and struck up a conversation. "Miss Grace, aren't you a driver? How come you're making coffee now? Is your coffee-making skill so good that Mr. Sinclair only drinks coffee made by you?"
Before Lila could respond, he continued, "If that's the case, I really need to try Miss Grace's handwork."
Lila smiled. "Mr. Morris, you've misunderstood. Actually..."
Alexander suddenly set his coffee cup down on the table, deliberately making a loud noise that cut Lila off directly.
She instinctively glanced at him, then heard Alexander say, "Terrible. Make it again."
Wesley raised his eyebrows slightly. "Terrible?"
He picked up his coffee and took a sip. "I think it tastes fine."
Alexander's mouth twitched as he shot him a look that said "if you have no taste, don't talk," and chuckled lightly. "Fine? Looks like Mr. Morris's taste really isn't that great."
Lila looked at the two of them, not understanding what was going on between them.
She really didn't get why Alexander was so hostile toward Mr. Morris.
Wasn't Mr. Morris here to discuss a partnership with him?
Offending someone before even discussing the partnership?
What was Alexander thinking?
While Lila was internally complaining, Alexander looked at her and said sternly, "What are you standing there for? Didn't you hear me tell you to make it again?"
"Got it."
After responding, she bent down to pick up the coffee cup in front of him, then looked at Wesley. "Mr. Morris, does your coffee need to be remade too?"
"He already said it tastes fine. No need for the driver to ask unnecessary questions."
"Oh."
Lila turned and left the office.
She went back to find Nina, the secretary who had taught her how to make coffee earlier.
At the coffee machine, Nina said somewhat puzzled, "The taste was off. I've always made it this way before."
"Did I put in too much coffee powder earlier or something?"
"Maybe. I'll make it this time. Once it's ready, you can take it straight to Mr. Sinclair."
Lila nodded. Watching Nina carefully add the coffee grounds and operate the coffee machine, she suddenly became curious about what kind of person Alexander was in the eyes of these staff members working in the executive office.
So she asked with a smile, "Nina, in your eyes, what kind of person is Mr. Sinclair?"
