Chapter 213
But unfortunately, Alexander didn't have superpowers and couldn't hear her inner cries at all.
He glanced at the book she'd left on the table, his long fingers flipping through a few pages along the edges, and scoffed lightly, "You've been looking at this for so long—how much have you actually remembered?"
"Not much."
"How can you be so slow?"
Lila rolled her eyes and said flatly, "As long as I can pass the exam."
Hearing this, Alexander's expression showed a hint of interest, "Oh? You haven't remembered much of the content, yet you're confident you'll pass?"
She pressed her lips together, "There's still a long time before the exam."
"When is it?"
"Registration is in January next year, written test in March. The exact dates haven't been announced yet."
For some reason, these few exchanges with Alexander gave her the strange feeling of a teacher questioning an elementary school student.
Hearing that the exam was still so far away, Alexander withdrew the hand that had been holding the corner of the book.
For a brief moment, a thought flashed through his mind—before she took the teaching certification exam, would they have a child together?
Even though they'd been getting along fairly well these past couple of days, he still felt that this pace was too slow.
Seeing Alexander silent for a while, Lila glanced at him, "Boss?"
Alexander gave a faint "Mm," "Study your book. I'm going to work."
"Oh, okay."
He turned and left the driver's lounge. As soon as he sat down in his office chair, he called Charlie in through the intercom.
After Charlie stopped in front of the desk, he looked at Alexander and said, "Mr. Sinclair, you wanted to see me?"
"Book me a restaurant, and order a bouquet of flowers. We'll be going around six tonight."
"Alright."
After responding, Charlie felt something was off and cautiously asked, "Mr. Sinclair, may I ask what kind of flowers?"
"Flowers a man gives to a woman—what do you think they'd be?"
"Is it for a confession?"
Confession?
Alexander narrowed his eyes, staring at Charlie with a light scoff, "Do you think if I'm interested in a woman, I need to confess?"
Charlie was immediately stumped by Alexander's question.
He broke out in a cold sweat and finally said, pretending to understand, "I get it, Mr. Sinclair. I'll take care of it right away."
"What do you get?"
"I understand what flowers to order."
Alexander chuckled lightly, "Really? What did I say that made you understand what flowers to order?"
Charlie suddenly didn't know what he'd done wrong. He only regretted asking that extra question earlier to avoid mistakes, which now left him at a loss for words.
"Cat got your tongue?"
"Mr. Sinclair is ordering flowers for his wife. For flowers from a husband to his wife, the florist should know how to arrange them. I'll go handle it right now."
Alexander stared at him and scoffed, "How do you know who the flowers are for?"
"Mr. Sinclair is upright and honorable, so you definitely wouldn't casually send flowers to other women. That's why I guessed it's for your wife."
"At least you haven't wasted all these years working for me. Go handle it."
Charlie quickly responded, "Yes."
After speaking, he turned around swiftly and left the CEO's office, his expression like someone who'd just survived a disaster.
After he left, Alexander leaned back in his office chair, his gaze falling in the direction of the driver's lounge. His eyes narrowed slightly as he thought to himself—women are mostly vain, and Lila married him for money. If he took her to a fancy restaurant and gave her flowers, she should be flattered, right? She might even fall for him, wouldn't she?
Alexander was certain of it.
He curved his lips smugly, already feeling intense anticipation for tonight's dinner.
