Chapter 193
As soon as he finished speaking, Alexander reached out his hand toward Lila, his naked gaze fixed on her.
Lila felt extremely nervous, but she obediently extended her hand to him. However, the movement was very slow. She was praying in her heart that something would interrupt this moment of bonding between them in the next second.
But nothing did.
Seeing her slow movement, Alexander leaned forward, grabbed her hand, and with a slight pull, drew her over to him.
Lila tumbled onto his lap, her other hand instinctively reaching up and pressing against his chest.
After steadying herself, she quickly moved it away.
Lila lowered her eyes, avoiding his gaze.
But she could feel the strong muscle lines of his legs and their burning heat—all of it reminding her that she and Alexander were now in an intimate position, far beyond the appropriate distance for a normal contract marriage.
"Hold me!" Alexander suddenly said.
Lila instinctively looked up, meeting his captivating eyes. All the words she wanted to say got stuck in her throat.
She didn't move.
He repeated, "I said, hold me."
"How am I supposed to hold you? You... you're already holding me, aren't you?" Lila asked randomly.
Alexander actually gave her clear instructions, "Put your arms around my neck."
Lila felt completely shocked.
The look in her eyes changed from initial fear to helplessness. She pressed her lips together and said, "Boss, what exactly do you want? We may be married, but we're not that close, right? This is making me very uncomfortable."
"Uncomfortable?"
Lila couldn't find words and gently nodded.
He gave an unconcerned snort.
Then, he began his own operation.
Alexander took Lila's hand and placed it on his neck. His deep blue eyes stared at her as he curved his lips slightly, "You're my wife. It's perfectly normal for me to hold you. There's nothing to be uncomfortable about."
She reminded him, "Your purpose is clear. You're doing all this to have a child, not out of genuine feelings. I don't think I can develop feelings for you."
Alexander countered, "What if I'm not doing this just to have a child?"
Lila asked, "What do you mean?"
Alexander looked at her confused expression and curved his lips slightly.
His slightly calloused fingertips touched her face, gently caressing her rather pleasant-feeling cheek. Then, his deep voice sounded, "I'm starting to find you interesting."
"Boss, did you drink too much at dinner? Do you know what you're saying?"
"I didn't drink. Remember, you came back in the car I drove?"
Lila didn't want Alexander to like her.
She tried everything to prove he couldn't possibly be interested in her, "But how could you like me? I'm dumb and stupid, and fat. I'm just a little good-looking, that's all. Boss, be rational. Don't lower your standards just because you're hungry."
"You're beautiful, sweet and cute, and not fat. Your curves are in all the right places."
"That's all superficial."
Alexander raised an eyebrow, "Maybe."
After those two words, a smile played at his lips, "But when I was having dinner with Ms. Hill today, I saw another side of you beneath that surface. At that moment, I suddenly thought, this woman is interesting. She makes me want to explore more."
"Did I do something wrong?"
"Nothing terribly wrong. When you aggressively threw juice in Julie's face, that reckless attitude just to vent your anger deeply attracted me. You were youthful and passionate, full of energy—completely different from the Mrs. Sinclair who always compromises in front of me. The extreme contrast created a strong visual impact on me and immediately caught my attention."
