Chapter 165
Lila rolled her eyes at the car ceiling. When she spoke, her tone was annoyed, but more relaxed and cheerful. "This is our town. People always love to gossip about everyone's private business."
"Nobody saw except Robert."
"Why did you deliberately show him? Do you think Rob has feelings for me too?"
He denied it without hesitation, "No."
After saying that, Alexander curved his lips and looked at Lila. "I just suddenly found Mrs. Sinclair sweet and adorable, and couldn't help wanting a taste. What, is that not allowed?"
Lila stared at Alexander's profile.
Only a real fool would believe that!
The car engine started.
Alexander backed up, pulled out of the parking spot, and drove off.
Lila leaned against the passenger seat, pressing her lips together slightly.
Just now, the moment he suddenly kissed her, an inexplicable tingling sensation shot through her heart.
She didn't quite understand what that was about.
Now, even though the kiss had ended a while ago, she still felt like Alexander's scent filled her nose.
Lila turned her head to look out the car window, feeling a bit dazed.
Why was she also feeling nervous?
To be fair, Alexander was a pretty good kisser, and he always had a nice smell about him, so actually, every time he got close to her, she didn't mind it.
Of course, it could also be because she'd never been close to other men, so she always felt some strange feelings arise when getting close to Alexander.
This feeling had better not be love.
She didn't want to fall for a man like Alexander who was arrogant, domineering, bossy, and liked to mock people!
She liked tall knights who would protect her like Matt, or gentle, quiet gentlemen like Chris, not tyrannical dictators like Alexander.
Twenty minutes later, while Lila's thoughts were still flying all over the place, the car stopped.
She came back to her senses, looked outside, then at Alexander. "Why did we stop? We're not at Island Mansion yet, are we?"
Alexander said flatly, "Going to buy you jewelry."
"No need." Lila refused without thinking.
Then she quickly added. "My grandma doesn't know we have a contract marriage, that's why she said those things. I'm already very grateful you didn't expose me in front of her. You don't need to spend money buying me those things."
Alexander glanced at her and snorted, "If I don't buy it, what am I supposed to say next time Grandma asks?"
Lila said seriously, "I'll say you already bought it, I just didn't wear it."
Alexander dismissed this and reminded her, "Lila, you'd better not think about making me look bad in front of Grandma. Although I'm not interested in you, I've always cared about my reputation. Problems that money can solve, I never leave as future troubles."
She looked at his cold expression and suddenly smiled.
Alexander immediately got a bit angry. "What are you smiling about?"
Lila answered his question with a question, "Now you're saying you're not interested in me?"
"What? Should I be interested in you?"
"Just now you said I was sweet and adorable."
Alexander felt somewhat helpless with Lila being too clever now.
After a brief silence, he snorted and mocked, "Give you a little encouragement and you get proud?"
"Isn't Mr. Sinclair's praise something to be proud of?"
"Stop talking nonsense, get out."
Lila secretly smiled. Was Alexander out of things to say?
Before she could move, Alexander had already pushed open the driver's door and got out.
Lila really didn't know what he was up to.
What kind of jewelry did he want to buy for her?
Given Alexander's normal temper, shouldn't he use his height advantage to look down at her from above and grace her with a "You think you deserve it?"
Why was he insisting on buying it instead?
He had changed!
