Chapter 150
"I know, I know. We talked on the phone last time, and you told me your name then."
"Grandma has a good memory."
The old lady smiled. "Don't let my age fool you - I can still remember things. Young man, what's your zodiac sign? How old are you? How long have you known our Lila? You two got married so suddenly and quickly, I don't know anything yet."
Alexander only answered one of Grandma's many questions, "I'm 25 this year."
"25, three years older than Lila. But three years isn't much, just right. Age-wise, you two are a good match."
"Mm."
Lila held the old lady's arm. "Grandma, should we go sit on the stone bench over there and chat?"
"Yes, yes, let's sit and talk."
The three of them sat down on the stone bench in the yard. The old lady looked at Alexander, then at Lila. "Lila, your husband is quite good-looking. How do you two get along normally?"
How do they get along?
Lila felt it could only be described as a complete mess.
She glanced at Alexander, then turned to look at Grandma. Just as she was about to speak, Alexander beat her to it, "Grandma, we get along very well. Lila has a great temper, and I'm very satisfied with her."
Hearing this, the old lady looked at Alexander. "From what you're saying, does our Lila just stay home doing chores all day?"
"What makes you say that?"
"You said you're very satisfied with her - in what way specifically? It's not cooking and doing laundry, is it?"
Lila stared at Grandma, thinking she was psychic.
Looking at Alexander again, he seemed not to have expected Lila's grandma to be so sharp. His usually composed and calm expression showed a barely noticeable crack, but in just a moment, he returned to normal.
Alexander smiled slightly. "Of course not. What I'm satisfied with is her personality. She has a great personality, and I really like it."
The old lady seemed to nod in agreement, then suddenly became reflective. "Our Lila is easy to talk to and doesn't hold grudges, so many people like to pick on her. When she was little and going to school here, it was better when Matt from next door was still around. Once Matt left, many students at school bullied our Lila. Back then, her dad took her door to door to confront those who bullied her. Later, the school teachers got involved and finally put an end to it."
As the old lady spoke, Alexander's gaze unconsciously fell on Lila.
He had grown up surrounded by people's admiration and respect, so he didn't understand what it felt like to be bullied. But it probably didn't feel too good?
When the old lady finished, Alexander stared at Lila and asked, "Who's Matt?"
She hadn't expected that out of everything Grandma said, Alexander would pick up on the name "Matt."
Lila pressed her lips together and didn't answer him.
The old lady, however, explained without reservation, "A childhood playmate of Lila's. She always called him Matt, right Lila?"
Lila made a sound of acknowledgment.
The old lady sighed again. "I have to say, this Matt was really good to our Lila. He protected her when they were little, which saved me and Lila's dad a lot of worry. Back then, Matt's parents and Lila's dad even hoped Matt and Lila could get married in the future. Who knew what would happen later."
Alexander listened carefully, and the look in his eyes as he watched Lila underwent an indescribable change.
Why were there so many flies buzzing around her?
Ethan, Chris, and now another Matt?
Alexander sneered inwardly.
