Chapter 39 LUCAS PROPOSED
Chapter 39 LUCAS PROPOSED
ZARA'S POV:
The moment her name left Mariz’s mouth, I already knew. Of course it was her. There was no other Giselle dominating the modeling world right now. Her face was everywhere. Billboards, fashion magazines, perfume ads. The kind of woman people described as timeless beauty.
My husband’s favorite woman was well loved by the public but I wondered how they would react if I would expose the truth that Giselle was my husband’s mistress. But then, it would also ruin my husband’s name, and Ken would be embarrassed.
“I see,” I murmured. “How generous of her,” I said dryly.
Mariz giggled softly. “She is such an angel,” she mentioned.
I smirked. Angel, my foot!
“By the way, how’s Ken doing, Miss?”
“My son is doing fine,” I replied with a smile.
“Didn’t he bother you to get a husband?”
“Fortunately, not.”
Then I check my wristwatch. Earlier, I got a message from Antoinette that she wanted me to visit her.
“Anyway, you should eat something delicious for lunch,” I said before handing her some bills that she could use to buy lunch for the staff.
“Thank you, Miss.”
“Just keep up the good work, Mariz,” I told her. “Anyway, I have to leave now. Antoinette is waiting for me.”
“Send our regards to Miss Antoinette!”
I just nodded.
From the mall, I went straight to Antoinette’s home in an exclusive subdivision, and it didn’t take long for me to park my car in front of an imposing mansion. She had a penchant for Victorian-era mansions with classical themes, and her place is the only house with that design in the entire subdivision.
“Finally, you're here!” she exclaimed joyfully.
“Am I that late?”
“Oh no, not really,” she said. “Come on, they have been waiting for you!”
I creased my forehead. “Who?”
“My glam team,” she replied.
“What? Are you joking?”
“Do I look like I am joking now?” she responded to me with a question before dragging me inside her house.
“Antoinette!” I protested, stumbling slightly as she pulled me through the doorway. “What is going on?”
She ignored my question completely. My friend had always been like a walking tornado. Loud, dramatic, and impossible to stop once she decided something.
“Sit here,” she ordered, pushing me gently into a chair in front of a large vanity mirror.
I blinked because suddenly, three strangers appeared around me like they had been waiting for a celebrity. My eyes widened.
“Antoinette,” I said slowly, “what exactly is happening right now?”
She clapped her hands happily.
“My glam team will restore your beauty!” she exclaimed dramatically.
“That part I heard,” I replied. “The question is…why? I mean, I could just go to the salon that you had recommended when I called you.”
“What’s the fuss, Zara? They’re here now, so you better behave and let them work. Understand?”
Then, Antoinette grinned like a mischievous mastermind as I took a deep breath.
“Later, you are going to look so stunning that your stupid husband will regret every decision he ever made,” she said.
I nearly choked. “Excuse me?”
“I heard from a reliable source that the cheating bastard proposed to her,” she said and my jaw dropped at the news.
“He did what?”
“Oh, you didn’t know? Sorry,” Antoinette said and before I could ask something else, she gestured for her glam team to start working on my makeover.
The hairstylist worked wonders on my neglected hair, transforming it into an apple cut that suited me. Then, we proceeded with facials, face massage, cleansing, and nail design. It was a truly refreshing experience that lasted for several hours.
Afterward, Antoinette praised his team for working so hard. Then, she invited the four of us to have some snacks letting his glam team leave. Once it was just the two of us, she talked to me about Nick again.
“Date him after divorcing Lucas,” she suggested.
“I think you should give up on that idea, Antoinette. It’s embarrassing! Besides, Nick deserves better than me,” I said.
“Why do you think Nick is still single up to now? It’s because of you, Zara!”
“You are just assuming things, okay? Nick and I are just friends,” I told her.
She sighed before squinting her eyes. “Don’t tell me that you are still in love with the bastard, Zara,” she muttered.
