Chapter 210

Chapter 210

"What are you doing hiding here all alone?"

Henry walked up behind Matthew and glanced at his phone screen.

"What did she unsend?"

Matthew put down his phone and turned to the side. "You curious?"

"Aren't you curious?" Henry stared at him. "Why did you two get divorced?"

Matthew frowned. "Mind your own business."

Henry put his hand on his shoulder, and Matthew shook it off coldly.

"You two were so happy together. Not like me, still single," Henry sighed.

Matthew had no patience for him.

"Don't leave." Henry pressed down on his shoulder with a serious face. "You don't still have feelings for Victoria, do you?"

"Are you done?"

Henry knew he'd been in a bad mood these past few days, and it was all because of Sophie.

Still saying he doesn't care when he obviously cared deeply.

"Fine." Henry let him go.

Matthew walked back to the private room. Victoria was still there.

Without Henry, the few of them didn't really chat that much.

Joshua didn't talk much; Emily was Sophie's best friend, so naturally didn't have much to say to Victoria, Matthew didn't talk much either, and he and Victoria couldn't exactly chat about the past.

"Thank you all for helping me celebrate my birthday today. I'm so glad you could come."

Once everyone had come back in, Victoria bowed to show her gratitude.

Henry glanced at Matthew and said with a smile, "We're pretty happy too."

"It's getting late. Why don't we end the party?" Victoria seemed a bit embarrassed. "I'm used to going to bed early."

"That's a good sleep schedule. Not like us, we're used to staying up late." Henry could respond to anything. He asked Matthew, "So should we go?"

"Yeah." Matthew picked up his things and looked at Victoria. "I'll take you home."

Victoria shook her head. "No need, I called Bella to pick me up. She should be here already."

"Then I'll see you downstairs."

"Okay."

Victoria pushed her wheelchair herself. She refused everyone's help.

Emily and Joshua followed behind. They'd been observing Victoria all evening - she really did seem to have no hidden agenda.

She kept her distance from Matthew, treating him the same as everyone else - neither too close nor too distant
If she still had designs on Matthew, with her current condition, she could easily win him over.

After all, she was Matthew's first love. They hadn't broken up for any any specific reason - you could say they'd never really broken up at all.

Walking out of the club, Bella was already waiting by the car.

Seeing Matthew standing beside Victoria, she was felt quite jealous.

She'd thought she'd get to watch Sophie and Victoria compete for Matthew, but she never expected Sophie to be so timid and just back down like that.

"Bella," Victoria called out.

Bella managed a smile and walked toward her. "Did you have fun?"

"I did," Victoria said. "Let's go home."

"Okay." Bella pushed Victoria and looked at Matthew. Matthew's gaze was indifferent. She smiled. "Thank you all for taking care of Victoria."

Not responding would be awkward. Henry touched his nose. "Of course."

Bella said with a smile, "We're leaving."

Watching Bella's car drive away, Joshua asked Matthew, "Mr. Moore, are you heading back now?"

Henry looked like he was watching a show. He bet Matthew wouldn't be able to sleep if he went back this early.

"How about another round?" Henry put his hand on Matthew's shoulder.

Matthew shot him a cold stare, and Henry had to put his hand down.

"You guys go ahead."

Joshua had no questions. Whatever Matthew decided, he'd go along with it.

He looked at Emily. "Let's head out."

Emily got in the car and saw Henry trying to persuade Matthew to stay out again. Matthew asked him for his car keys, then walked off.

"Joshua, from your perspective, does Matthew still have feelings for Victoria?"

"Not sure." From spending time with Joshua, Emily knew he wasn't a gossip and had no interest in other people's business.

Being with him was really quite dull.

Seeing Emily fall silent, Joshua spoke up again. "Mr. Moore isn't someone who changes his mind easily. His divorce from Sophie was probably just out of anger."

Hearing this, Emily slapped her thigh. "You also think they're not done, right?"

"Yeah."

Emily smiled widely. "I knew it, I'm not the only one who feels this way. They were together for two years after all, even the feelings were gone..."

Emily wanted to say, even without feelings, there was still the physical intimacy - how could they just end it like that?

But she didn't dare say such things in front of Joshua.

She and Joshua had been married for quite a while now, and the two of them were really just like like roommates - they'd never even slept together.

Talking about sex with him felt wrong.

Fortunately, Joshua wouldn't push the matter, so she held back.

Sophie had cooked herself a bowl of noodles, adding lots of chili peppers, Sichuan peppercorns, and vinegar. The flavor was very strong - spicy and tingly, very satisfying, making her sweat all over.

Emily told her they'd wrapped up, and Victoria hadn't even let Matthew drive her home.

Sophie picked up some noodles, and accidentally splashed some broth in her eye. She quickly dropped her phone and fork and ran to wash it out.

This made her extremely uncomfortable.

After rinsing for a long time, once the burning sensation faded, she finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Just then, the doorbell rang.

She pulled out a tissue to wipe the water from her face and went to open the door.

Matthew saw her red-rimmed eyes and the wet tissue in her hand, and couldn't help but frown.

Had she been crying after seeing that Facebook post he sent?

Sophie was very surprised to see him. "Why are you here?"

"Were you crying?" Matthew asked.

Sophie blinked. "Huh?"

Matthew stared at her.

Sophie realized what he meant and glanced at the tissue in her hand. She blinked hard again - right now she must look like she'd been crying, and crying hard at that.

"No." Sophie stepped aside and pointed at the bowl of noodles on the table. "I accidentally splashed some broth in my eye."

Matthew saw the bowl.

His gaze fell back on her face. Her eyes were very red, and her voice had a heavy nasal quality.

"Did you need something?" Sophie wiped her eyes again.

Matthew pressed his lips together. "What did you send?"

"Huh?"

Why does he keep asking such strange questions today?

Matthew seemed a bit impatient. "You sent me a message, then unsent it. What for?"

"Oh." Sophie hadn't expected that's what he was asking about.

Suddenly, a thought flashed through her mind, and she asked incredulously, "You didn't come here specifically for this, did you?"
