Chapter 202
Chapter 202
Ophelia didn't play with his phone.
She just put the phone on his seat, then walked back to where she was sitting.
It wasn't that she couldn't get used to being without her phone. She just stared at the rain outside, thinking about what happened today.
Thinking about George being in a hotel room with another woman didn't hurt as much anymore.
What's the point of feeling bad? It already happened, and she already cried about it. What else could she do?
She couldn't just pretend nothing happened.
She couldn't accept that.
She tried to forget all those sweet memories with George, but those scenes kept playing over and over in her mind. They clearly loved each other so much, they made all those promises to each other - why couldn't he resist even the slightest temptation?
Just thinking about it made her heart ache.
And when her heart ached, she wanted to cry.
The tears came without permission.
She was afraid Henry would see, so she deliberately sat with her back to him, biting her lip hard, not daring to cry out loud.
Henry kept glancing at Ophelia. She sat with her back to him, completely still, but he could just tell she was holding back, suppressing everything.
She was crying.
Henry frowned, checked the time, and stood up.
He made noise on purpose to let her know he was coming over.
Ophelia quickly wiped away her tears.
"Are you hungry? Let's go get something to eat." Henry didn't walk around to face her, afraid she wouldn't want him to see her in this state.
Ophelia shook her head. "I'm not hungry."
She wasn't going anywhere. After that scene with George downstairs earlier, quite a few people had watched. She was afraid of being seen.
Her choked voice carried a hint of stubbornness.
"I'll go pack something and bring it up." Henry didn't push it - this would give her more time alone to process everything.
"No need." Her choked voice was full of rejection.
Henry didn't care whether she wanted it or not. He left.
As soon as he was gone, Ophelia sniffled again.
She wouldn't cry.
She absolutely wouldn't cry anymore.
Henry packed two meals from the restaurant downstairs.
Carrying the bag toward the elevator, the doors opened, and he saw George coming out.
George looked guilty the moment he saw Henry, rushing out like he was escaping.
Henry couldn't help himself when he saw him.
He grabbed George by the collar and dragged him toward a corner. George hit him, somewhat panicked and scared. "What are you doing? Let go!"
Henry set the takeout bag on the ground and, without a word, threw a hard punch right at his face, not holding back at all.
George was just a young guy after all, and Henry worked out regularly. That punch left George completely defenseless - he fell straight to the ground. Forget fighting back, he couldn't even defend himself.
Henry pinned him down and hit him a few more times, until George couldn't even beg for mercy.
Finally tired from hitting him, Henry shook out his hand and glared down at George with his swollen face, warning him from above, "Stay away from Ophelia from now on."
George hurt too much to even talk back. He could only watch helplessly as Henry walked away.
In the elevator, Henry looked at his slightly reddened knuckles and flexed them. It had been too long since he'd hit anyone - he was out of practice.
He adjusted his breathing, and the redness on his knuckles faded a bit before he opened the door to the room. Ophelia was still there.
Her eyes and nose were red, but there were no more tears.
"Come eat."
Ophelia still refused. "I'm not hungry."
Henry said, "The last thing a girl should do is punish her own body for someone else's mistakes. Whether it's your body or your heart, they're yours - you need to take care of them."
"I know I shouldn't, but I can't help it. It's an emotion." Ophelia explained to him quietly.
Henry was relieved to see she was finally willing to talk to him about this. He'd been worried she'd keep it all bottled up.
He took out the food and sat down. "You've already cried, you've already stood in the rain. Now it's time to get some energy back, right? Otherwise, when you see that scumbag, you won't even have the strength to hit him."
Ophelia bit her lip, her voice very small. "I don't want to hit him."
"He betrayed you, and you don't want to hit him?" Henry frowned, staring at her. "Seems like you didn't like him that much after all."
"That's not it!" Ophelia took a deep breath. "He already betrayed me - what's the point of hitting him?"
Henry raised his eyebrows, staring at her for a long moment, then smiled.
"Alright then. If it were me, I'd beat him black and blue. Guess I'm not big-hearted enough." Henry had already started eating.
Ophelia still didn't come over.
Henry ate his food. Outside, the rain had gotten lighter, and sunlight was even starting to appear.
He took out his phone and checked the flight information - flights had resumed.
When booking a ticket, he hesitated.
"Do you still need someone to stay with you?" Henry asked.
Ophelia shook her head instinctively. "No."
Henry knew she'd been keeping her guard up around him. He smiled. "I've noticed your attitude toward me really isn't very friendly."
Ophelia muttered quietly, "Good that you know."
"What?"
"Nothing."
Henry didn't care what she said. He confirmed once more, "You're sure you don't need me to stay?"
"No."
"Alright then." Henry was disappointed, though not surprised.
He booked the last flight back home.
"I have a six o'clock flight this afternoon," Henry said while eating. "After this meal, who knows when we'll see each other again."
Ophelia finally looked up at him properly. "You're leaving?"
Henry raised his eyebrows at her, amusement in his eyes. "Missing me already?"
She knew he couldn't be serious.
"No. Have a safe trip."
Henry stared at her and put down his fork. "You really have no conscience. I helped you out, and you wish me a safe trip? Are you trying to curse me?"
Ophelia froze, finally realizing - she was just used to wishing people well on their travels that way.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean it like that, I just hope you..." Ophelia quickly explained, "Have a safe journey."
Henry watched her flustered explanation and found her more and more adorable.
Ophelia was adorable, which meant she was innocent and kind at heart.
Right now, Henry wished the rain would last longer, fall harder.
"Will you see me off?"
Ophelia had just said the wrong thing, so when he asked this, she found it hard to refuse.
Henry was just asking anyway - he knew she wouldn't agree.
Someone who couldn't wait to cut ties with him wouldn't see him off.
He smiled and picked up his fork again.
Ophelia saw that smile on his face and felt a twinge of sympathy.
Her heart softened, and she said, "Okay."
Henry's fork stopped. He looked up at her.
This time, Ophelia didn't avoid his gaze. She took a deep breath. "I'll see you off."
This time, Henry's smile spread wide across his face.
