Chapter 14
At that moment, Henry spotted Sophie in the KTV lounge area and walked over to say hello.
When Sophie saw him, she couldn't help but look in the direction he came from, thinking Matthew had come too.
"Let me introduce myself, Henry." Henry extended his hand, very gentlemanly.
Out of politeness, Sophie shook his hand. "Can I help you?"
"Just wanted to get to know you." Henry sat down across from her, looking at her with a warm smile.
Sophie assumed he knew about her relationship with Matthew and had come over specifically to greet her, so she didn't ask more questions, just smiled at him slightly.
Henry's eyes lit up. She had that kind of comfortable beauty that could easily make someone's heart flutter.
Only that guy Matthew had no taste.
"Want to come hang out with us?" Henry wanted to bring her in front of Matthew, to let him properly appreciate what a beautiful woman looked like.
For a woman this good-looking, he didn't care how fake she might be.
Sophie thought to herself that Matthew's friend coming to find her must be at Matthew's suggestion.
She nodded. "Sure."
Henry was surprised she agreed so readily. She must be used to being hit on and had seen it all.
He could accept ambitious and beautiful women.
Of course, the prerequisite was that they had to be beautiful.
Henry brought Sophie to their private room. As he pushed the door open, he raised his eyebrows at Matthew, his pride showing clearly.
Just as he was about to put his arm around Sophie's waist, he heard Joshua call out, "Ma'am."
Henry's hand froze in mid-air as he looked at Joshua in confusion, even turning around to check. There was no one behind him.
"Who are you calling?"
Joshua's gaze fell on Sophie.
Sophie was also a bit confused.
It seemed Henry didn't know who she was.
So Matthew hadn't sent him to find her after all.
Henry awkwardly moved away from Sophie, and after his shock, asked her skeptically, "You're Matthew's wife?"
Sophie glanced at Matthew, wondering if she should nod.
After all, Matthew had said they couldn't publicly reveal their relationship.
"Ask him." Sophie passed the ball to Matthew.
Matthew stubbed out his cigarette. He didn't speak, but his silence already gave Henry the answer.
Henry was speechless.
His handsome face seemed to crack, looking at Sophie, then at Matthew. "You've been hiding this from me all this time?"
Sophie swallowed. She really hadn't known Henry didn't know who she was. If she had known, she wouldn't have come.
"You guys have fun, I won't disturb you." Sophie forced a smile and quickly left.
After Sophie left, Henry closed the door, poured himself a drink, and downed it before standing in front of Matthew.
Seeing his bland, indifferent expression made Henry somewhat annoyed.
"Only you would care so little." Henry sat down across from him, crossing his legs. "Honestly, she looks way better than that other one."
Then he asked Joshua, "Right?"
Joshua had no comment on this.
Matthew glanced at Henry. "You talk too much."
"You really don't like her?" Henry pulled out a cigarette and put it between his lips. "She doesn't seem to like you either. Why don't you divorce her, and I'll marry her."
Matthew scoffed. "She likes me. She doesn't want a divorce."
Henry studied him. "Why do I feel like you're a bit smug?"
"Just stating facts." Matthew glanced at him. "If she's willing to divorce, I can cooperate and help you out."
Henry rolled his eyes. "Scumbag."
Matthew didn't care at all what Henry called him.
After singing for two hours, Sophie and her group finally left their room.
The group was chatting and laughing when someone blushed like a peach and whispered to them, "There are three handsome guys behind us, really really handsome."
Everyone turned around.
At that moment, Matthew was putting on his coat with smooth, cool movements.
He turned his head to talk to Henry, who was wearing a suit and glasses, his attentive listening posture incredibly handsome.
As for Joshua, he was that kind of serious, cool type.
Their appearance not only made Sophie's colleagues look repeatedly, but other girls coming and going were also watching them, and the bolder ones even approached, wanting to get their contact information.
Matthew walked away directly, his rejection very obvious.
Joshua naturally ignored them.
Only Henry smiled and handed out his business card, saying, "Contact me when you have time."
Henry was smooth and easy in social situations.
Matthew completely ignored Henry, walking past Sophie.
Sophie even deliberately moved back to make way.
At this movement, Matthew looked back at her.
When Sophie's eyes met his, she smiled at him slightly.
Matthew immediately turned and walked out.
Sophie pouted.
Henry walked away with a smile, embodying gentle affection perfectly.
As he walked, he looked at Sophie and deliberately went up to her. "Want to leave together?"
This move put all the attention on Sophie, making her the center of focus.
Sophie's colleagues all looked at her in unison.
"No thanks." Sophie declined.
"Let me take you home." Henry glanced outside. "Come on."
These words left plenty of room for imagination.
Sophie knew that if she didn't leave now, her colleagues would definitely pull her aside with questions, and she probably wouldn't get home anytime soon.
After thinking about it, she simply agreed.
"I'm leaving."
Under their astonished gazes, Sophie left with Henry.
Matthew stood by his car, not yet getting in.
Seeing Sophie and Henry come out together, the two of them talking, looking very harmonious, he couldn't help but frown.
"Are you taking your wife, or am I?"
Henry had only just learned they didn't live together.
Matthew glanced at Sophie. Sophie looked at him openly, then said to Henry, "Could you take me, please?"
Hearing this, Henry raised his eyebrows at Matthew.
"No problem." Henry walked to his car, opened the passenger door, and said gentlemanly, "Please."
Sophie smiled and said thank you, then got in his car.
Henry closed the car door, turned around and smirked at Matthew, waving proudly. "Bye-bye."
As the car drove away, Matthew stood there, his expression dark and unclear.
Joshua sighed inwardly, not knowing who to say was being inconsiderate.
However, for the wife to get into another man's car right in front of her husband, that took guts.
Henry drove, in a great mood.
He glanced at Sophie. "I heard you like him."
"He told you?" Sophie figured no one else would know besides him.
"Yeah." Henry asked her, "Why did you marry him? Don't tell me you actually like him."
Sophie nodded. "Of course. If I didn't like him, why would I marry him?"
Henry didn't believe it at all and laughed. "You're so beautiful, I should have known you already. People I don't know don't just suddenly fall for him."
"He helped me once." Sophie looked out the window. "I'm repaying a debt."
Henry burst out laughing, not believing such a cliché story. "Was it a life-saving favor? Otherwise, how could it make you pledge yourself to him?"
At that moment, the car drove onto the bridge where her mother had tried to jump years ago. Sophie pushed down the gloom in her heart and responded, "Yeah."
