Chapter 120
Sophie didn't know if all men were like this or if it was just Matthew.
She said through gritted teeth, "Get out!"
"I'll get you some clothes." Matthew was pretty straightforward. Without forcing her, he left, and Sophie immediately locked the door behind him.
Hearing the sounds from inside, Matthew wasn't annoyed.
He took out her pajamas and stood at the door, knocking gently. "Call me when you're done washing up, and I'll give you the clothes."
Sophie didn't want to deal with him.
But she had no choice. She opened the door again, and Matthew stood to the side, turning his head to look at her when he heard the movement.
"Give them to me!" Sophie reached out her hand.
Matthew handed her the pajamas.
Sophie grabbed them and closed the door again, locking it.
Matthew smiled.
Hearing the sound of water inside, Matthew walked away a bit.
His phone was vibrating. He answered, "Speak."
"It was your distant nephew who made the move." Henry sneered, "Looks like the Williams family still hasn't kept him in check. But why would he suddenly go after Sophie again? He probably listened to someone's advice. Anyway, you'll have to handle this yourself."
After ending the call, Matthew's eyes darkened.
When Sophie finished her shower, she quickly headed to the bedroom, afraid of being caught by Matthew.
Matthew heard the door close and turned around, but the door was already shut tight.
He walked over and knocked. There was no response from inside.
"I'm going out for a bit."
Sophie heard this inside and responded loudly, "Once you're out, don't come back. I'll lock the door."
After saying this, she listened carefully for sounds outside. There was nothing.
After a while, everything outside was quiet. She didn't know if she had zoned out and missed hearing something.
After a few more minutes, confirming there was no sound outside, she opened the door.
Seeing the figure at the door, she was so scared she immediately tried to close it.
But it was too late. Matthew had already wedged one leg in the doorway, and she couldn't close it.
"Matthew, why are you so childish!"
"Do you want to go out?" Matthew didn't tease her, asking seriously.
"No."
Matthew glanced at the time. "Are you sure you can sleep alone?"
"I've slept alone for over twenty years. Why wouldn't I be able to sleep?" Sophie wanted to close the door but was afraid of hurting his leg, so she could only hold onto the door trying to block him.
If he really wanted to force his way in, she couldn't stop him.
"How is that the same?" Matthew's gaze fell on her moist, delicate face. Looking closely, there was a faint pink glow beneath the white, skin so smooth it made one want to pinch it.
Matthew had seen Sophie's body. Her skin was very nice, smooth and delicate, without a single flaw.
It was with her that he learned a woman's body could be that soft.
Matthew considered himself quite resistant to female charms, but since being with Sophie, the resistance he'd built up had long been broken down by her.
Even in broad daylight, there were moments when he'd think about those intimate scenes.
Sophie felt her scalp tighten under his stare, her face slightly warm. "Didn't you say you were going out? Why aren't you leaving?"
"I suddenly don't feel like going anymore." Matthew's gaze was burning, danger and aggression slowly gathering in his eyes.
Sophie was so nervous that her toes curled, and her hand pressing against the door unconsciously used more force. She didn't care if she'd hurt him; she just wanted to shut him outside, far away from her.
She pushed hard, and Matthew's leg pushed back with even greater force.
Sophie gritted her teeth. "Get out!"
Matthew didn't move, his eyes on her body, his intention too clear.
Sophie's face turned red from the effort.
Her heartbeat quickened too.
Those images that made blood boil and faces flush suddenly jumped into her mind, making her breathing rapid and her nervousness grow. There was also an unspeakable anticipation.
The two of them were in a standoff.
Sophie knew Matthew was doing this on purpose.
Whether to advance or retreat was actually all in his control. He was in this standoff with her simply to see her embarrassed.
Suddenly, Matthew's force released.
Before Sophie could close the door, his hand pressed against it. "Don't lock the door."
His voice was already tinged with desire, especially deep and sexy, making her heart feel like it was being gently teased by a pair of hands, tingling and itchy.
Sophie didn't agree. She forcefully closed the door.
With her back against the door, after several deep breaths, her heart still couldn't calm down.
Placing her hand on her chest, the wild beating showed how nervous she'd just been.
At this moment, she heard the sound of the door closing outside.
He'd left!
Sophie let out a heavy sigh of relief. The tense string throughout her body finally relaxed, her shoulders dropping. She opened the door again and went to the kitchen to pour a glass of water, drinking it all in one gulp.
Matthew felt a tightness in his chest, his eyes sharp. He pressed the gas pedal to the floor, the car racing down the highway.
More than twenty minutes later, the car stopped in front of a flower shop.
Bella was wrapping flowers. Seeing Matthew appear at the shop entrance, she was overjoyed.
It had been a long time since Matthew had actively come to see her.
"Matthew!" Bella's eyes lit up. She put down the scissors in her hand, her tone gentle and light. "Why are you here?"
Matthew ignored the joy in her eyes, glanced at the flowers on her table, his tone flat. "I heard you got a boyfriend."
Bella was stunned, then shook her head. "No."
"It doesn't matter if you do or not." Matthew's eyes were cold as frost, without any emotion. "I'm just reminding you, you'd better behave yourself. Your ex-husband should be getting out soon."
Bella's face instantly turned deathly pale.
The light in her eyes disappeared without a trace at that moment, replaced by disbelief and fear instead of the joy she'd felt seeing him.
The warning in Matthew's eyes showed no mercy.
After speaking, he turned around.
"Matthew!" Bella chased after him a couple of steps, shouting his name with a sob. "Why? Why are you treating me like this? Have you never loved me at all, from beginning to end?"
Matthew stopped and turned around.
Tears glistened in Bella's eyes. He was tearing her heart apart.
She knew he was heartless, but at this moment, she still hoped to get the answer she wanted to hear.
"No." Matthew looked at her coldly. "You'd better not waste the little bit of sentiment I have left for you."
The tears in Bella's eyes finally couldn't be held back anymore. The cold, icy touch completely crushed the affection she'd built up in her heart.
As the car disappeared from view, she crouched down weakly, her heart completely emptied.
Matthew was in a hurry to get back. He didn't know if that woman had really locked the door.
As soon as he got out of the elevator, he entered the password. The door really wouldn't open.
Matthew couldn't help but smile.
He called Sophie.
The call connected, but no one answered.
He called again. Still no answer.
Matthew was very patient and sent her a message.
Matthew: [Open the door.]
No reply to the message.
Matthew flexed his fingers and sent another message.
Matthew: [How long can you refuse me?]
