Chapter 128 Wedding Planning
Chapter 128 Wedding Planning
Fiona’s POV
After postponing the wedding for months, we finally agreed to have it next month. As expected, my event planning company will be handling it.
Nick agreed to do the spatial design, just like old times. Even Alexa decided to intern at the company for just a month to prove to Nick that she can be an expert at planning weddings. Isn’t it funny how they can take their banter to such lengths?
Anyway, all hands are on deck. I’m currently at the Dubic company today to help out in planning my wedding, and it’s very busy. This is also the first time I’m bringing Aurora here.
“Dada… dada…” I look at the small human who is currently denying my presence. So, I have to place a call for Nick to report to my office. Oh, yes—he agreed to work physically with us today.
Without knocking, he barges in, breezing past me to take his daughter into his arms. And just like that, she’s giggling.
“You know that I can fire you for not knocking,” I tease, forcing a scowl.
“Please don’t fire me… I don’t have any alternative. I have an amazing family to feed and…” He looks at her with the same expression I’ve gotten used to seeing—love, care, protection—before continuing. “My daughter deserves a good life. So you can’t fire me.”
“Your daughter?” I whine. “Now I have to fight for my husband with her, huh?”
“Come on. You know that I love you, Fiona. And I never gave you a reason to doubt that. The same way I love her. Please don’t make me choose.”
“No one is asking you to choose, Mr. Aurora’s Lover. Now, both of you can leave.”
“Is she firing you on your first day at work?” he whispers, poking her cheeks. And she gives him a large grin that exposes her dimples. She took those from him, too.
“I love that you are happy in tough times. I should learn from you.” He boops her nose, and she scrunches her face before eventually laughing.
“Whenever you are done with your public display of affection, you can both leave my office. I need to work,” I point.
“Someone is cranky today,” Nick teases, peppering kisses on my face.
“Oh my goodness, Nick, stop! I’m trying to concentrate here.”
A knock sounds on the door, and I know that it’s my assistant.
“Come in,” I instruct, glaring at Nick, who, in turn, is just smiling sweetly.
“Mr. Colin asks for a board meeting,” she announces, her eyes darting nervously between me and Nick.
I sigh. “We will join shortly.”
Ten minutes later, we enter the boardroom, and most of the employees and interns are already there, including Mr. Colin.
“Now that we have everyone, let’s go straight to the point.” Mr. Colin starts, pointing at the projection screen. “We are about to plan the biggest wedding in the country. And it’s between the Duncan heir and his fiancée. So, we have to be extra careful.”
I exchange a look with Nick. They are talking about us like we are not here. I guess that’s what we get for wanting to plan our own wedding.
“Since the spatial design is still being worked on, we are going to skip to the theme. According to them, they want something simple yet elegant. So, they chose ivory and champagne.”
It took several arguments with Alexa and even Daphne to conclude on that. They both wanted us to have a very classic theme, far from simple. But there’s something about the warmth of ivory and the subtle glow of champagne that just makes sense.
“We will be working with that. And according to the guest list, we will be needing a bigger space. So, after consulting with the family, we won’t be using the Duncan hall at the Elite district; instead, we will be using three of their resorts.”
My brows crease in confusion.
“Do you have a question, Mrs. Fiona?” he asks, and I’m surprised that he noticed.
“How am I…” I clear my throat—let’s treat me like a third party. “How are they going to be at three locations at the same time?”
“Good question. That’s not an issue. The first venue is where the main wedding will be held, while the second and last will be provided with large screens for live streaming. Unless we can find a very big venue.”
I shoot Nick a questioning look. How large is this guest list? Last I checked, we agreed on one thousand guests.
“On that, we have a bigger venue,” Nick explains.
“Oh. We will wait to be updated then, so that we can start sorting out the fabrics and designs. Now, let’s talk about logistics.”
The meeting goes on for another hour before we finally conclude, although there are still many things yet to be planned out.
“Nick, how many people are we expecting?” I seethe the moment we leave the boardroom.
“I don’t know. Maybe around thirty thousand,” he winks, breezing past me to avoid further argument.
I’m not even angry that the numbers increased. I am, instead, surprised.
Thirty thousand people!
I’ll be marrying the man of my dreams before such a huge amount of people. My wish of having a small wedding vanished into thin air a long time ago. I’ve come to understand that weddings for the Duncans are beyond marriage celebrations; rather, they are seen as another way to network with others.
And for the first time, it’s finally dawning on me that I’m going to be a wife.
His wife.
People have started addressing me as Mrs. Duncan, but that alone hasn’t prepared me for the role.
