Chapter 422 The Greatest Post-Marriage Freedom
Chapter 422 The Greatest Post-Marriage Freedom
Dylan shifted slightly to the side, avoiding Ruby's leg, before finally speaking, "Honestly, Ms. Redwood, it's pretty hard for your gifts to surprise me."
"Why don't you take a look first?" Ruby smiled, pulling out her phone and fiddling with it before handing it to Dylan.
He glanced at the screen and saw a draft of an accusation, claiming that Evelyn was the mastermind behind the Redwood Group's perfume scandal, and that she had colluded with Virgil from the Redwood Group.
"You really think this is enough to nail her, or even enough to accuse us of slander?" Dylan raised an eyebrow, clearly unimpressed.
"There's more. Evelyn already has a history of misconduct in this area. The Seraphian Group covered it up last time, but bringing it up again, combined with this new incident, isn't far-fetched. Plus, your Fragrance Association is already pushing to disqualify her as a perfumer. She doesn't even have a professional license."
Ruby had all the details lined up, making it easy to target Evelyn.
Dylan remained silent, simply looking at Ruby.
To be fair, she was very attractive. Her eyes were bright and innocent, her lips a perfect shade of red, like ripe cherries. She had the allure of a mature woman, combined with the aura of a powerful businesswoman.
But with his hands crossed in front of him, Dylan said calmly, "You seem to have a serious grudge against Evelyn?"
"Not really." Ruby straightened up, smiling, "I don't have much interaction with her. But Mr. Anderson, you seem quite interested in her?"
She didn't need him to answer; she could see it.
Dylan was indeed quite concerned about Evelyn. Although he claimed to be investigating, he had been lenient. Otherwise, with the association's power, Evelyn would have been done for by now.
The more Ruby thought about it, the more she resented Evelyn. Why did the men she fancied always look at Evelyn differently? What made her so special?
"If you don't have a serious grudge against her, why go to such lengths to frame her?" Dylan tapped his fingers thoughtfully.
Ruby didn't answer his question. Dylan didn't feel the need to respond either, but he did find Ruby's intentions quite deep.
"Frame?" Ruby laughed, sliding off his desk to stand in front of him. "Mr. Anderson, I don't think I'm capable of that in your eyes. What you're doing to Evelyn isn't much better than what I'm proposing. We both have different goals but a common enemy. You and I are the perfect partners."
She leaned in close, whispering the last few words in his ear.
Dylan didn't move, feeling Ruby's warm breath on his ear. He smiled, pulling her closer. Ruby stumbled slightly, falling into his arms.
Ruby's soft body pressed against him, and she didn't rush to get up. One hand rested lightly on his chest as she looked up at him with seductive eyes.
Holding her chin, Dylan forced her to look at him and asked, "Alright, if I team up with you, what's in it for me?"
"Evelyn will be at your mercy," Ruby said, despite the pain from his grip on her chin. She smiled, "Isn't that what you want?"
If he didn't want her to submit, Dylan could have pressured her long ago. Why wait until now?
But Evelyn was stubborn. Even with the industry's collective boycott, she hadn't budged.
"She's relying on the Seraphian Group and the Whitman family backing her. If you and I team up, we can apply double pressure. Not only will Evelyn fall, but Samuel will also be implicated. In the beauty market, it's better to share the benefits than let the Seraphian Group dominate. The Anderson family and the Redwood family together—who in Vistalia could stand against us?"
She spoke sweetly, and Dylan laughed, still holding her chin. "It sounds nice, but why should I cooperate with you? What's in it for me?"
"Because we're both smart people. Smart people working together is the best partnership." Ruby wrapped her arms around his neck, pressing closer. "I know you admire Evelyn, think she's talented. But I know her better. She's survived so many crises not just because of luck, but because Samuel supports her."
"And you know she's from the Jones family. She's tougher than most women. You can't just force her. To conquer someone like her, you have to dismantle her support and break her spirit. Isn't that what you want?"
Ruby spoke confidently, watching Dylan's expression.
For a man like Dylan, who had everything handed to him, the desire to conquer was strong. He likely felt a powerful urge to dominate Evelyn.
Giving him what he wanted was the key to sealing the deal.
"If I heard correctly, you want to marry me. But can you tolerate your husband having feelings for another woman?" Dylan asked with a smile.
His eyes were dark, like an endless sea hiding unknown dangers.
Ruby laughed, unfazed. "Mr. Anderson, you're underestimating me. With our backgrounds, we've seen it all. In families like ours, do men ever stay loyal to one woman? If we marry, you can like whoever you want, conquer whoever you want. Successful men often have multiple women, but your wife will only be me."
"No one else has my background, beauty, and intelligence to match you. Our marriage would be a powerful alliance, and I would give you the greatest freedom." Ruby was confident, believing her offer was irresistible.
Dylan fell silent, seemingly considering her proposal.
Seeing his expression, Ruby tightened her arms around his neck and leaned in to kiss him.
