Chapter 182 Once Again Upstaged

Chapter 182 Once Again Upstaged

Olivia didn't care about the stares and looks around her. She focused on eating, and as her stomach gradually filled up, her mood got better bit by bit.

She even asked Cameron if he wanted some.

Cameron naturally wouldn't refuse. He leaned over and opened his mouth.

Olivia paused for a moment, but still handed over the pastry in her hand.

Cameron took a gentle bite of the pastry, a smile spreading across his face as if it were the most delicious thing he'd ever tasted. "It's good."

People around them saw this scene and started whispering again, their eyes full of envy and surprise.

Olivia felt a bit embarrassed being watched like this, her cheeks slightly flushed. She shot Cameron a playful look and said softly, "If you like it, just take some yourself."

Cameron just smiled, his eyes full of affection.

Jennifer watched their interaction from the side, the jealousy in her heart growing stronger.

She had thought she would be the center of attention at this charity gala, and that her relationship with Cameron would grow closer, but she never expected Olivia to steal all the spotlight.

No!

She had to find a way to turn things around.

At the end of the charity auction, a group of children came on stage to dance and sing to thank all the guests. Olivia sat below watching, her eyes full of tenderness and love.

It made her think of the baby quietly growing in her belly.

The baby would definitely be this beautiful and cute, too.

Noticing Olivia's movements, Cameron casually glanced over, but her coat blocked his view. He only saw Olivia rubbing her stomach and assumed she'd eaten too much.

After a while, digestive tablets were delivered to Olivia's side.

Olivia was slightly surprised, thinking this was also part of tonight's arrangements, just like the pastries earlier.

She politely accepted them.

Then Cameron pushed a glass of water toward her.

Olivia looked at Cameron, a bit confused, but she still accepted it. "Thanks."

She took a symbolic sip of water, then continued watching the performance on stage.

Cameron thought Olivia hadn't taken the digestive tablets right away because she didn't have water, but now she still wasn't taking them. He figured Olivia was too shy or embarrassed, so he could only pretend he hadn't noticed anything.

After the charity gala ended, Olivia planned to go see those children.

She went to find Sophie first.

Since Sophie didn't like these kinds of events, she had wandered around on her own and would come back when it was almost over.

The two of them went to see the children together.

When Olivia came, she had prepared some small gifts and snacks.

But when they arrived, they saw Jennifer with her assistant giving out gifts to the children, along with various snacks and toys.

"Do you all like the gifts Ms. Harper prepared for you?" the assistant asked.

The children looked at Jennifer. They hesitated slightly, but still happily thanked her. After all, whoever gave them gifts was a good person.

These children had all been through a lot and were more mature than kids their age.

"Olivia, you're here too? Did you bring gifts for the children?" Jennifer only looked at Olivia after getting all the children's praise.

Seeing Olivia and Sophie each carrying a bag, Jennifer felt she had already won.

If you want to do charity, don't be so stingy.

She figured Olivia cared about her dignity and wouldn't open her bag.

Olivia smiled lightly, not wanting to bother with Jennifer, because when the children saw Olivia, they all happily ran toward her, and no one even played with the toys Jennifer had given them anymore.

"Olivia!"

"We missed you so much!"

Olivia couldn't squat down comfortably, so she sat on a nearby chair and opened her bag. "Okay, now line up and come get your gifts one by one."

The little dolls inside weren't expensive, but Olivia had remembered what each child liked and specially bought them for each one.

Sure enough, every child who received a gift was especially happy. Their eyes lit up as they looked at Olivia.

"Thank you, Olivia, we love you!"

"We really, really missed you!"

In the distance, Jennifer saw this and was so furious she nearly lost her composure.

She had clearly spent the most money and bought the most expensive gifts, but the children were all easily won over by Olivia and surrounded her.

This wasn't how things were supposed to go!

"Ms. Harper, there are, there are reporters," the assistant carefully reminded her, because Jennifer’s contorted expression was almost frightening.

Of course, the reporters didn't have time to care about Jennifer. They pointed their cameras at Olivia interacting with the children and praised her one after another. "Mrs. Hayes is truly beautiful and kind-hearted."

"The fact that the children like Mrs. Hayes so much shows that Mrs. Hayes is really good."

"Children don't lie."

Jennifer adjusted her expression and walked forward with a smile. "Olivia, the children are so adorable. The more I look at them, the more I like them. Maybe it's because I'm about to become a mother myself."

As she finished speaking, Jennifer suddenly went pale and nearly collapsed, but her assistant caught her just in time.

Olivia frowned, wondering if Jennifer was deliberately putting on an act.

So she was curious about what Jennifer was trying to do.

But either way, in front of the reporters and media, Olivia still showed concern for Jennifer.

She took out her phone and called for a doctor to come over.

For the health of all the guests, there were doctors on standby at the venue.

But Jennifer waved her hand. She sat down nearby.

"It's okay, no need..."

Olivia couldn’t figure out what Jennifer was up to, or if she was truly unwell.

But regardless, she wasn't going to get involved.

"You look really pale. You should go to the hospital, especially since you're pregnant. It would be bad if something happened."

Even though Olivia advised her this way, Jennifer still wouldn't listen, insisting she was fine.

Worried Jennifer might be trying to set them up, Olivia and Sophie quickly decided to keep their distance from her.

They were going to take the children to the hotel that had been arranged, since it was getting late and the children couldn't stay up too late.

Seeing that Olivia and Sophie were leaving, Jennifer was upset, but she really didn't feel well and couldn't keep forcing herself. She could only have her assistant take her to the hospital first.

As it turned out, the examination revealed her body was in terrible condition.

The doctor shook his head. “If you don’t take better care of yourself, I’m afraid you could risk losing the baby.”

This terrible news was unacceptable to Jennifer. She had just been the object of everyone's envy tonight, but Olivia had stolen her spotlight, and now even her baby was in danger!

The assistant carefully spoke up. "Ms. Harper, should I call Mrs. Harper and have her come keep you company?"

At the mention of Daphne, a flash of coldness crossed Jennifer's eyes.

But she still called Daphne. There were things she needed Daphne to do, but Daphne kept not answering the phone, making Jennifer panic. Had something happened?
