Chapter 77

Chapter 77

When news of William's death first came, the entire Brown family was shrouded in grief, especially William's parents - they could barely go on living.

If Raymond hadn't found someone to counsel them in time, the Brown family might have had more deaths on their hands.

Raymond, needless to say, although he had several grandsons, William was his eldest grandson, the most outstanding heir, so much like himself.

With William gone, Raymond couldn't help but be devastated. He even fell seriously ill for several months.

Fortunately, medical care was advanced enough these days, and with seven or eight family doctors by his side, he pulled through.

But up until now, Clarence always felt like Raymond didn't seem as sad about William as before.

Sure, time heals all wounds, but wasn't this way too fast?

Raymond used to always express regret when William was mentioned, but lately, he hasn't seemed to bring William up much anymore. And all of this once again confirmed Clarence's suspicions.

He left the Brown Mansion and drove toward the Brown Group, but didn't go directly there. Instead, after getting on the highway, he suddenly exited and finally stopped in a secluded corner.

Trees in front and behind, a gravel path in the middle - hardly anyone ever came here. Only then did Clarence feel safe enough to take out his phone and dial a number.

Clarence's voice was very serious. "How's that thing I asked you to look into coming along?"

This car was Clarence's own. Every time before going out, he would carefully check it over and over, inside and out, afraid someone might have planted a bug in the car.

The man on the other end said a few words, and Clarence's expression changed instantly. "You can't find any information on that guest observer? How is that possible!"

Clarence clenched his jaw. "What kind of job are you doing? You know what he looks like and what his name is - he's identical to William. Just search based on that information. How can you not find anything?"

"Really can't find anything."

The man's voice was dejected. "I've worked under you for so long, how could I possibly lie to you?"

"That person just appeared out of nowhere. I can't find anything about him - where he lives, where he works, who's around him - I know nothing at all."

"Nonsense!"

Clarence cursed angrily, but he also knew his subordinate was telling the truth.

If that guest observer really was William, appearing publicly online meant he must have made thorough preparations. If William didn't want him to find out, then he couldn't find out. This also showed that William was preparing for a long battle with him.

A strong sense of panic suddenly surged in Clarence's heart. He didn't know exactly how much William knew, what William had been doing during these months of disappearance, and whether it would be bad for him.

And now, after hearing this news, Clarence panicked even more. He could be almost one hundred percent certain that William was coming back to the Brown family.

William, appearing on a variety show, was giving him a heads up - this was just William's first step back. No one knew what William would do next.

But without a doubt, William must be coming for him. Otherwise, why would William come back now of all times, at this critical moment?

Wasn't it because William saw the Brown Group was about to fall completely into his hands and got anxious, so he had no choice but to show himself?

"Useless!"

Clarence used his subordinate as a punching bag, cursing him without mercy. "If you can't find it, you still have to find it for me! Change your approach - don't look into William anymore, look into Emily!"

"Look into Emily?"

The man was stunned. "You mean..."

"Idiot! You can't even understand this!"

Clarence roared.

"Got it, got it!"

That woman named Emily was very close to William on the show. When Nina had her accident, William also helped her a lot. If their relationship was this good in public, it would be even better in private.

William's side was tightly sealed, but Emily was just a regular person with several kids. Her whereabouts weren't that easy to hide.

So as long as they could find a breakthrough from Emily's side, they would naturally be able to find information about William.

They say know yourself and know your enemy, and you'll win every battle. Just thinking about William coming home soon to confront him made Clarence extremely anxious.

Before that happened, he had to make thorough preparations. Even if William really came back, at least he wouldn't be caught completely off guard.

After hanging up, Clarence tossed his phone aside and lit a cigarette.

Why would William just come back like this out of the blue? What exactly had William been through these past few months?

Given William's personality, he would never just stand by and watch the Brown Group fall into his hands without doing anything.

But Clarence had made quite a few moves these past months and had held press conferences more than once.

Within the Brown Group, he had replaced many people. Almost all the key employees had been swapped out, and even those he couldn't replace had been suppressed to varying degrees.

It could be said that Clarence would stop at nothing to eliminate opposition. But when he was doing all this, William made no move. Yet now William was making a move - he really couldn't figure it out.

If Clarence knew that William had lost his memory before and couldn't come back even if he wanted to, and was only coming back now after recovering his memory, he'd probably cough up blood in anger.

He hadn't taken the chance to finish off William when he had amnesia - what a missed opportunity.

Over the next few days, Nina's condition kept getting better, and Emily finally felt completely at ease.

William was quite attentive, coming over whenever he had time, bringing lots of things for Emily and the kids each time - food, supplies, everything they needed.

He seemed to have endless money to spend, so everything he bought was top quality.

Before William came, this small house couldn't have been more ordinary, but now that it was filled with things William brought, the whole place seemed to have gone up several notches.

It was noon again. Emily had bought groceries and was busy in the kitchen. William was in the room playing with the kids. Emily could clearly feel that Aiden wasn't as reserved as before.

When William left and sent Aiden over, although Aiden got along well with Oscar and Nina, he was always very careful around Emily.

Even though Emily showed him the greatest kindness, Aiden was obviously still very sensitive.

Now it was different. As soon as William came back, Aiden seemed to have found someone to rely on, and his personality became noticeably more lively.

Someone knocked on the door. Emily wiped the water off her hands and walked over to open it. Out of habit, she glanced through the peephole, but her hand froze on the doorknob.

She had thought it was another director coming to ask her to be on a show, but she didn't expect the person standing outside to be Rodolfo.
