Chapter 60
The next morning, Ivan's people arrived with a makeup artist.
"Ms. Johnson, even though you're not a professional, you still need some basic makeup."
The makeup artist said politely, and after getting Emily's consent, she got straight to work.
While applying makeup, she chatted with Emily. "Ms. Johnson, you have such great skin."
Emily responded, not letting her words fall flat.
At the filming backstage, Nina's curious eyes scanned everything around them. Oscar looked around with vigilance in his gaze, while Aiden's expression remained indifferent.
He had been to this kind of filming location with William once or twice before—nothing special about it.
"Mommy, do we have to go up there too?"
Oscar tugged at Emily's sleeve, his brow slightly furrowed.
"We already promised Mr. Franklin. Now that we're here, we can't back out."
Hearing Emily's words, Oscar didn't say anything more, just nodded.
He simply didn't like crowded, noisy places like this.
But he completely understood Emily's decision.
"Mommy, let's all go on together."
Nina said in a sweet, childlike voice, her eyes sparkling.
Emily smiled in response, though she couldn't help feeling a bit nervous inside.
"Ms. Johnson, please get the three children ready. You'll be going on soon."
The backstage crew came over to coordinate with Emily and the others, arranging their entrance positions.
When filming began, Emily led the children onto the stage under the deafening music.
"Now entering are our regular single mom and her three children."
The host introduced them enthusiastically on stage. After they came up, the audience below couldn't help but gasp in surprise.
"This family of four is so good-looking. Are they really just regular people?"
"Who knows? But those three kids are really cute!"
The chatter below continued. Ivan was backstage, smiling with his eyes nearly closed.
Although he did want to repay Emily, he was also using her to some extent.
Emily was well aware of this.
She knew that Ivan's willingness to invite her and the children on the show wasn't just to repay her for helping him years ago—he also valued what she could bring to the program.
As for what exactly that was, Emily wasn't quite sure.
But seeing the enthusiastic applause from the audience below, she now understood the reason.
The host continued with the program on stage.
"Ms. Johnson, please introduce yourself and the three children to everyone."
Emily nodded, took the microphone, and introduced herself gracefully. "Hello everyone, I'm Emily Johnson. I'm very happy to meet you all on the Super Mom Show."
She didn't say much about herself, instead passing the microphone to Aiden beside her.
Aiden took the microphone, his lips slightly pressed together.
"I'm Aiden."
He said flatly, then, like passing a hot potato, immediately handed the microphone to Oscar.
"I'm Oscar, full name Oscar Johnson."
Oscar said one more sentence than Aiden, but still just one sentence, and like Aiden, passed the microphone to Nina.
"Hello everyone, I'm Nina, I'm 5 years old, and my full name is Nina Johnson. I'm very happy to meet you all here, and I hope you'll like us."
Compared to Aiden and Oscar, Nina said the most and was the least stage-shy.
People looked at the three adorable children and sensed their different personalities.
"These three kids have such different personalities, but they're all quite likable."
The audience discussed the three children extensively, which made Ivan even happier.
"Alright, Ms. Johnson and the three children have all introduced themselves. Next, we'll randomly select questions from the comments for Ms. Johnson to answer."
The host worked diligently, continuing with the program.
The first question selected from the comments was: with the three children having different personalities, do they ever argue or fight?
Faced with this question, Emily answered quite straightforwardly.
"They're all very sensible and have never caused trouble over small things. Of course, they argue and fight sometimes, but I think that's just a way for children to express their feelings."
Her answer was standard, not sparking much discussion but not attracting criticism either.
After two or three more questions, just as the host was about to end this segment, a comment question popped up.
"What kind of work does Ms. Johnson do?"
This was an ordinary question that normally wouldn't be selected.
But since it had already been picked, the host casually asked it.
"I'm a mortuary cosmetologist."
Emily showed no discomfort at being asked about her profession, instead introducing it gracefully.
While she spoke without emotion, the entire venue fell silent for a moment, and even the comment stream suddenly disappeared.
But immediately after, the next wave of public opinion erupted.
"Mortuary cosmetologist? That kind of job is really unlucky, isn't it?"
The comments were filled with similar remarks, though some people argued back.
"Being able to make the deceased more comfortable on their final journey and help the families of the deceased find peace—that's a respectable profession. There's nothing unlucky about it."
The two sides argued fiercely, and the host managed to regain control of the situation.
"Now, please have Ms. Johnson and the children take seats on the side and wait."
After Emily, several more guest groups appeared, though most of them were celebrity families.
"Now, please welcome our special guest judge, Sophia, to the stage."
Compared to the lively entrance of Emily and the others, Sophia's entrance seemed even more grand.
"Ms. Sophia Johnson, please introduce yourself."
The host's attitude toward Sophia was relatively more serious.
Others might not know, but he did.
Sophia had actively sought to be on this show, even spending twenty to thirty million dollars to get in.
The production team naturally wouldn't offend such a guest.
"Hello everyone, I'm Sophia Johnson."
Her introduction was simple, but the comments became curious about her identity.
When asked questions related to her career, Sophia covered her mouth and laughed softly.
"To be honest, with my parents' help, I've opened a small jewelry company."
"So impressive!"
Comments flooded in, though at first glance it seemed fishy.
And amid the passionate discussion in the comments, her identity was completely revealed.
It turned out that Sophia was the daughter of the Johnson Group.
Seeing the show's ratings and discussion volume rising higher and higher, the production team backstage couldn't stop smiling.
