Chapter 186
Chapter 186
After finishing their business, William took Emily home first.
The car stopped in front of the Brown's mansion. Before Emily could get out, she heard the children's laughter coming from inside the mansion.
She pushed open the car door and walked in quickly.
"Mommy!"
Oscar was the first to see her.
The usually reserved child immediately jumped down from the sofa and ran over quickly, looking up at Emily with his little face while clutching the corner of her clothes.
Emily crouched down and hugged him.
With a smile on her lips, she gently tapped Oscar's forehead.
"Mommy's here."
Nina heard Oscar's excited cry and hurried over too. She was more direct than Oscar, flying into Emily's arms and claiming a spot for herself.
"Mommy, you're finally back! I missed you so much!"
Nina said this while pouting, looking like she was about to cry.
She looked as if she'd been really upset.
Emily stroked Nina's head and hugged her little body tight as well.
"Mommy missed Nina too."
Hearing this, Nina instantly cheered up. Her little face turned slightly red, and then she started chattering away, sharing recent events with Emily.
Before long, mother and daughter were sitting close together, talking and laughing.
"Mommy will definitely spend some good time with you tomorrow."
On the sofa, hearing Emily's promise, Nina couldn't help but pout.
"Tomorrow might not work."
Hearing her say this, Emily was surprised.
"Why not?"
Meeting her confused look, Nina helplessly spread her hands.
"Because Grandpa said he's already found us a school, and we have to start tomorrow."
Hearing this, Emily's eyes lit up instantly.
She'd been worried about the children's schooling. Now that Raymond had taken care of it, she didn't have to worry about them falling behind anymore.
"That's really good news. I'll pack your school bags later."
Seeing Emily looking so happy, Nina felt a bit deflated.
Then she perked up and clung to Emily's arm, acting cute.
"Mommy, I don't want to go to school. Can I not go tomorrow?"
Emily was a bit surprised by what Nina said, but didn't refuse right away. Instead, she patiently asked.
"Why don't you want to go to school?"
Nina's little mouth was pouting high, looking completely justified.
"Because if I go to school, I can't be with Mommy. Right now I just want to stay with Mommy."
Hearing her say this, Oscar nodded too.
Of course, it wasn't just that he wanted to be with Emily. The kindergarten curriculum was also way too simple for him.
If he really went to kindergarten and followed the regular lessons, that would just be wasting Oscar's time.
Seeing both children nodding in unison, Emily sighed helplessly.
As their mother, she naturally understood what they were thinking.
However, there were some things she wouldn't indulge the children in.
For example, learning.
Just as Emily cleared her throat and was about to speak, William walked in from behind and picked up both children, one in each arm.
"Going to school is a good thing. You can make new friends and learn lots of things. Didn't you always say you wanted to play with other kids?"
William had a smile on his lips, tempting Nina with things she was interested in.
Nina tilted her head and thought about it, feeling like what William said made some sense.
But thinking about being separated from Emily, she still felt reluctant.
"When I get out of school, can I see Mommy?"
Seeing William's determined expression, Nina understood this was already decided.
So she stopped resisting and obediently tried to get some benefits for herself.
She hoped to see Emily every day.
William chuckled and pinched her little nose.
"Of course you can. When you come home from school, Mommy will be home waiting for you."
Hearing him say this, Oscar nodded thoughtfully, and Nina's face showed pure happiness.
She could go to kindergarten and meet other kids, while still coming home every day to share fun stories with Mommy.
Thinking about all this, her smile grew brighter.
Nina suddenly grabbed William's arm and said softly.
"Daddy, I don't want to go to school. I want to stay home with you."
Although she'd made up her mind, she still wasn't ready to give up.
What if William agreed?
But things didn't go as she hoped. This matter wasn't up for discussion.
Fortunately, seeing her looking so disappointed, William coaxed and persuaded her.
"Going to school is to learn skills. Once you learn those skills, you'll be able to protect Mommy."
As William spoke, Nina blinked, as if trying to understand what he meant.
Emily watched from the side and couldn't help but laugh.
"Alright, you two stop bothering Daddy. Come upstairs with me. I brought you gifts."
Hearing about gifts, Nina immediately slid down from William and pulled Oscar upstairs.
Emily followed behind, then looked back at William. They exchanged a smile.
Upstairs, Emily had just given the gifts to the two children when Raymond came knocking.
"William, come to the study for a moment. I need to talk to you."
Raymond went straight to the study as soon as he came in, completely ignoring Emily.
William didn't mind these small details. He nodded and said to Emily.
"You stay with the kids first."
In the study, Raymond sat behind the mahogany desk, holding a document, his brow slightly furrowed.
"Sit."
He pointed to the chair across from him, then pushed over a document.
"Take a look. This is the cooperation proposal from the Beaumont family."
William quickly scanned through the document, a cold smile forming on his lips.
"On the surface it's cooperation, but actually they want me to spend more time with Eleanor, hoping feelings will develop over time?"
Raymond looked at him and sighed.
"So you figured it out."
William tossed the document back onto the desk, his expression cold.
"It's pretty obvious. Who can the Beaumont family's little schemes fool?"
Raymond was silent for a few seconds, then asked.
"So what do you think? Should we agree or not?"
"Agree."
William said it decisively. Raymond was surprised that he'd be so straightforward.
"You're sure you want to agree?"
William nodded, a flash of coldness in his eyes.
"As for Eleanor, just have the branch office work with them. Isn't Clarence managing the branch office now? Having him deal with the Beaumont family couldn't be more appropriate."
Raymond listened and smiled.
"Your mind runs deep."
William replied calmly, "Grandpa, you flatter me."
