Chapter 250: Protect Her
Chapter 250: Protect Her
Jeremy was hit so hard that his head snapped to the side. He covered his face and stayed quiet for a long time.
Elizabeth looked down at him, her voice dripping with disdain.
"Jeremy, who do you think you are to question me? What makes you think I owe you any answers? Do you believe you're still the heir to the Martin family?"
"I got into the lab on my merit. You have no proof, so what right do you have to question me?"
Elizabeth never fell into the trap of self-justification. If Jeremy wanted to accuse her, he could go ahead and find the evidence himself.
After speaking, she glanced around at the people nearby, her eyes warning them.
Remembering that Colt knew Elizabeth from the lab, many people didn't dare to say anything more.
Louis, who had been napping in the car, was jolted awake by the sound of the slap. He looked outside, his eyes widening as sleep fled.
Elizabeth! She was part of this closed training!
Louis didn't bother to pack his things. He quickly ran down and squeezed through the crowd.
Emily had intended to escalate the drama, but unexpectedly, Jeremy, who had been silent, suddenly raised his head.
His face was stern, cold as ice, and flushed red with anger.
Jeremy didn't even bother to cover the clear handprint on his face. He suddenly reached out to grab Elizabeth's bag, muttering viciously.
"You must have hooked up with some powerful old man. I don't believe I can't find evidence."
Emily's smile widened.
Being misunderstood by everyone was something Elizabeth should experience!
However, at the critical moment, a large, well-defined hand suddenly grabbed Jeremy's wrist.
Louis stood beside Elizabeth, the hem of his black coat still swaying.
He pried Jeremy's hand away and kicked him without hesitation, causing Jeremy to stagger back!
"Jeremy," he tilted his head with a dangerous smile, "Going through someone's personal belongings without permission? With the Moore family's influence, I can have you thrown in jail!"
Hearing the name Moore family, the people around took a few steps back, not daring to provoke or discuss further.
Emily's expression changed drastically, staring at this suddenly appearing member of the Moore family, unsure of what was happening.
Elizabeth, who was about to throw a punch, held back because of Louis's presence.
She looked at Jeremy, who was now bent over in pain and unable to speak, her eyes filled with disdain, and she let out a cold laugh.
Dirty people always had dirty minds.
Three years ago, Jeremy had been shaken, choosing to betray love based on mere rumors without any evidence.
Now, it was the same. Based on some ridiculous suspicions, he concluded that she had fallen and was seducing some powerful old man.
Even among ordinary friends, there should be basic trust, not such suspicion.
Jeremy, who still claimed to love her and spoke of their childhood friendship, made Elizabeth feel utterly disgusted. He couldn't even compare to a single finger of Matthew.
Elizabeth's face turned icy. She didn't want to waste another word on Jeremy and tugged on Louis's sleeve, stepping onto the yacht first.
"Forget him, he's just a nutcase. We've got more important things to handle."
"Hold on!" Emily smirked arrogantly, stepping out from the crowd. "You, a newbie, teaming up to assault your classmate? You think this is just gonna blow over?"
"As Mr. Ramirez's secretary and the main person in charge of this training, I have to punish you!"
Louis's temper flared. No one had ever dared to treat him like this, as if he were insignificant.
He glared at Emily, his eyes cold, the inherent authority of a Moore family member fully on display.
He stood protectively in front of Elizabeth, his stance firm, his words dripping with threat.
"This is someone I'm protecting. Do you, a mere intern, dare to provoke the Moore family?"
The mention of the Moore family made Emily hesitate.
She knew she couldn't afford to offend them. If she angered the Moore family, Colt would surely reprimand her, and she would lose his trust.
But today, with such a good opportunity in front of so many people, Emily didn't want to waste it.
The two faced off, Louis standing protectively in front of Elizabeth, his attitude very clear.
If he couldn't protect Elizabeth in the lab, he'd be scolded by Matthew outside, and Alice would surely beat him up.
Compared to that, offending an Emily was nothing. Louis knew she was Colt's daughter, but he didn't care.
Even if Colt himself were here to trouble Elizabeth, he would still protect her!
Emily's face turned grim, caught in a dilemma.
If she let Elizabeth go, with so many students watching, where would her dignity as a senior go?
At this critical moment, Jeremy, clutching his stomach and pale-faced, straightened up and suddenly grabbed Emily's wrist.
Emily was startled by his sudden action, but seeing Jeremy's face, she hesitated.
Three years ago, when she was with Jeremy, there was indeed a bit of spite involved, stealing Elizabeth's beloved man made her happy.
But after three years together, she couldn't say she hadn't developed feelings for Jeremy.
Now, Jeremy held her hand, speaking to her in that familiar tone.
"Forget it, don't make things difficult for her."
Jeremy's words were like a bucket of cold water, extinguishing the last bit of warmth in Emily's heart.
She gritted her teeth, her expression twisted, forcing out a sentence through clenched teeth.
"After what just happened, you're holding me back to protect her?"
Jeremy seemed to realize their physical contact, releasing her hand as if shocked.
Emily felt as if she had been abandoned again, her heart sinking into an icy pit.
Louis saw this and laughed out loud.
"The drama between you two is quite something. Ms. Perez, would you mind sharing with us?"
Emily glared at him, not caring about maintaining her beautiful and gracious image, wishing she could devour Louis alive.
Elizabeth adjusted her bag and smiled, reminding her.
"Ms. Perez, watch your face. Your mask is slipping."
