Chapter 241 The Pursuer's Protection

Chapter 241 The Pursuer's Protection

Now that Matthew had found a girl he liked, he was ready to ditch Nova, who had stuck with him through thick and thin.

As Matthew was about to enter the room, Tom's face showed a mix of anxiety and hesitation. After much deliberation, he finally mustered the courage to speak up.

"Mr. Moore, Nova's head over heels for you. Please, let her off this time."

Matthew was momentarily stunned, thinking he might have misheard.

He turned around with a cold glare, exuding an intimidating aura that made Tom almost unable to breathe.

The atmosphere grew tense, and no one dared to speak.

Matthew slowly lifted his head, his gaze icy, his voice low and oppressive.

"And why do you think you can plead for her?"

Tom's body trembled slightly, fear evident.

But thinking of Nova's pitiful state, he gathered his courage and spoke again.

"Mr. Moore, she just loves you too much. What's wrong with that? She only had a bit too much to drink today and isn't thinking clearly."

Matthew scoffed, stepping closer to Tom.

"You've been by my side for a long time. Is this the first time you've met her? Is this the first time she's pulled something like this?"

Tom's forehead was now covered in sweat, his voice shaking.

"Mr. Moore, for my sake, please show some mercy."

Everyone around was shocked, not knowing Tom had such feelings.

Not only them, but Nova was also surprised. She struggled to lift her head and take in the scene.

She had some impression of Tom, an old follower of Matthew.

She never expected someone would stand up for her one day.

Nova felt a bit of comfort, slowly recovering, sitting on the ground and watching the situation unfold.

Matthew stopped in front of Tom, looking down at him with disdain and mockery.

"You? Who do you think you are? Daring to negotiate with me for a woman?"

Tom gritted his teeth and knelt down, bowing his head.

"Mr. Moore, I'm willing to do anything for you, as long as you let Nova go. Please!"

"You used to be so close. Don't let others' instigations ruin everything."

Matthew's gaze remained cold as he looked at the kneeling Tom. After a moment of silence, a cruel smile appeared on his lips.

"Fine, since you care so much about her, you both can leave."

Tom's face turned pale, staring at Matthew in disbelief, completely stunned and speechless.

Matthew waved to his other men, "Throw them both out, now!"

Nova watched the scene helplessly, giving a self-mocking smile, not even struggling as she was carried away.

They were thrown into a beat-up truck and driven to the foot of the hill where the estate was located.

Tom replayed everything that had just happened, his lips trembling, unable to say a word.

He had followed Matthew for so long, only to be kicked out so easily?

It was already late at night, the sky dark as ink, the cold moonlight reflecting in Nova's reddened eyes.

Matthew's heartless words felt like a dull knife repeatedly stabbing her heart.

Nova's lips curled in self-mockery, unsure how to reach Matthew's heart, feeling everything she did was in vain.

Hearing her laugh, Tom snapped back to reality, scrambling to her side.

Seeing Nova's disheveled state, Tom felt a pang of sorrow.

She had always been a goddess, when had she ever been so down and out?

Nova's eyes were slightly red, tears glistening under the moonlight, making her face stunningly beautiful.

Tom was completely captivated, unable to look away for a long time.

Nova noticed his gaze, her voice choking just the right amount.

"You didn't have to help me so much. It's all my fault for loving him so desperately, losing all my dignity."

"I'm sorry, it's my fault you lost your job."

Tom hurriedly interrupted, his eyes urgent.

"It's not your fault! As long as you're okay!"

Tom clutched his phone, his Adam's apple bobbing, "I've long wanted to leave Matthew's side. Now I can focus on helping you."

Nova was shocked by his betrayal, and after a brief silence, she couldn't help but cry softly.

Tom's heart raced, looking at the tearful girl in front of him, feeling incredibly soft-hearted.

Nova threw herself into his arms, the smell of alcohol mixed with warm tears soaking his shirt.

"Tom, Matthew is too much! I don't know what to do."

Nova's voice was soft and weak, her fingers lightly tugging at his clothes, making Tom's heart melt completely.

"I'm here!"

Tom immediately responded, his voice trembling with excitement.

"I've helped you with many things back in Solterra, and I'll help you this time too! Whatever you need, I'll do it..."

Nova lifted her face, her eyelashes still wet with tears, her slightly parted lips making Tom almost breathless.

She gently rubbed against his neck, "But this might hurt you."

"It won't!" Tom cupped her face, wiping away her tears with his thumb, "I'll do anything to protect you."

In the darkness, Nova's lips curled into a smile before burying her face in his chest again.

Her nails unconsciously traced his back, calculating how to use this pawn that had come to her, Matthew's most trusted person, now her sharpest weapon.

But she didn't plan to use this weapon against Matthew.

Elizabeth was her biggest threat now! She hated Elizabeth with a passion!

Tom, lost in the embrace, was overjoyed, completely unaware of the calculating glint in Nova's eyes.

Elizabeth, asleep in her apartment, sneezed several times, waking up from her dream.

She rubbed her nose in confusion, not knowing what had happened, turned over, and went back to sleep.

Danger was approaching.
