Chapter 233 Hidden from You
Chapter 233 Hidden from You
After dropping Henry off, Elizabeth went downstairs to buy some ointment for his scrapes.
Meanwhile, Matthew got a call on his cell.
His guys had gone to the spot he mentioned earlier and easily got Colt's name and plans out of the people they brought back.
Matthew had told these men to handle the situation, and even though it was just a kidnapping, they meant to kill Henry.
But when they found out who Henry was, they hesitated and stalled, leading to the mess they were in now.
Now that Henry was safe, Colt would soon find out.
Matthew hadn't hidden his identity, so Colt would probably figure it out.
That was exactly what Matthew wanted. He was itching to see if Colt had the guts to go after Elizabeth!
Elizabeth quickly let the lab know Henry was safe, but she hadn't mentioned her plans to return yet.
Henry's apartment had lousy soundproofing, so when the lab called to check in, Elizabeth went downstairs to a quiet spot to take the call.
"Henry's safe now. Keep an eye on Colt. If he shows up, let me know right away."
The lab didn't know Colt was behind this, so they were confused. Elizabeth patiently explained a bit more but didn't spill everything.
"The Ramirez Villa is incredibly powerful, backed by an ancient family. They have a lot of pull in the lab, so stay sharp but don't overthink it."
Only then did they stop asking questions.
As for when Henry would recover and come back, that was still up in the air.
After hanging up, Elizabeth stared at the ants on the ground, lost in thought.
She had just gotten off the plane and hadn't had a moment to catch her breath before dealing with such a big issue. She was exhausted.
But Elizabeth hadn't been zoning out for long when a familiar, unwelcome voice suddenly cut in.
"Well, what a small world. Didn't expect to run into you here."
Elizabeth instinctively turned around at the sharp voice and saw a face she particularly disliked.
She hadn't expected Nova to show up here at this moment.
It had been a while since they last met, and Nova seemed to have had a rough time, looking noticeably thinner.
Seeing Elizabeth, Nova arrogantly crossed her arms and smirked.
"I used to think you were so sharp. I stood behind you for a few minutes just now, and you didn't even notice?"
Elizabeth hated people eavesdropping on her conversations and had no intention of engaging with Nova. She turned to leave.
But Nova called out to her.
"Wait, aren't you curious why I'm here? I share the same last name as Colt. Didn't Matthew tell you about our relationship?"
Elizabeth finally realized that Nova Ramirez and Colt Ramirez shared the same surname.
Maybe their vibes were so different that she had never connected them before.
Now that Nova mentioned it, Elizabeth frowned and stared at her, clearly displeased.
"What are you talking about?"
Nova smirked smugly, openly provoking her.
"What do I mean? Matthew's been keeping secrets from you. He didn't even tell you who I really am. You're just a joke."
"My brother and Matthew are super tight. Bet you didn't know that, huh?"
Elizabeth stared at her for a few seconds, but her focus shifted.
"I'm curious, how did you find this place?"
Nova's eyes flickered momentarily. She certainly wouldn't tell Elizabeth that she had pestered Matthew's mother for the information.
Matthew had made a big move as soon as he returned to Silvermist City, and his mother knew about it. Nova happened to be at the hospital and rushed over.
She hadn't expected to see Elizabeth, the woman she loathed, as soon as she arrived!
Having gone through so much, Nova was now directly targeting Elizabeth without pretense.
"A girl from your background wouldn't even have the chance to meet Matthew. He's just playing with you. One day, when he's tired of you, he'll dump you without hesitation!"
"Oh, and his mom asked me to tell you to stay away from Matthew!"
Elizabeth's hand clenched into a fist at her side, feeling very upset.
She knew that Nova's words weren't necessarily true, but they were incredibly hurtful.
That condescending attitude made Elizabeth despise her.
But Nova didn't intend to hold back. She became even more aggressive, wanting to trample Elizabeth.
"You know the Ramirez Villa is powerful. No matter what my relationship with Colt is, you can't afford to offend me!"
"Matthew is mine. If you dare to compete with me, be careful you don't end up dead at Colt's hands!"
Nova's eyes widened, locking onto Elizabeth with a fierce glare, as if she wanted to devour her.
Elizabeth raised an eyebrow, sensing something was off.
Matthew had clearly stated before that Nova's brother, Ethan, had passed away, leaving her an orphan.
Because she had no one to rely on, Nova clung to Matthew and couldn't be shaken off.
Moreover, Elizabeth knew Colt well enough to believe he wouldn't raise such a foolish daughter, so Nova couldn't be his child.
And a family like the Ramirez finally wouldn't have a descendant with Nova's personality.
Elizabeth tried to detect any flaws in Nova's expression, clearly doubting her words, which seemed too contradictory.
Nova was also scared because her identity was a lie she had concocted on the spot.
If she hadn't overheard that phone call, she wouldn't have done this. The coincidence of sharing the Ramirez surname should be enough to intimidate these naive women.
As the two stood off, footsteps slowly approached.
Soon, a man's figure and voice appeared within their sight.
