Chapter 84 Daniel and Scarlett's Breakup
Scarlett tried to pour the water she brought into Alice's mouth, but Alice struggled so hard that barely any got in.
Just as Scarlett was about to pinch Alice's cheeks to force it down, a hand appeared out of nowhere and gripped Scarlett's wrist tightly.
Scarlett looked up along that hand and saw Daniel's familiar handsome face.
She felt a chill in her heart. "Let go!"
Seeing Daniel arrive, Alice shoved Sarah aside and hid behind Daniel.
"Daniel, please save me. I don't know what Scarlett's trying to make me drink, but I feel terrible. My stomach hurts so much."
Alice's fake friends saw Daniel standing up for Alice and started chiming in.
"Oh my god, is Alice really pregnant?"
"Is Scarlett trying to make her drink abortion pills? That's way too cruel and vicious."
"Yeah, how can she just force someone to take medicine? The baby is an innocent life. That's too cruel!"
Sarah was furious. She grabbed a bottle from the table and smashed it.
The bottle shattered into pieces, glass flying everywhere, causing screams all around.
"Anyone else want to run their mouth! Do you even know what happened? Which eye saw abortion pills in there? What kind of people are you? I hope when you all get married, your husbands give you seventy or eighty illegitimate kids, so you can really show off how kind and generous you are!"
The women huddled together in fear.
Alton came over with an angry face, glaring at Sarah. "You again! I don't think you want to walk out of here in one piece!"
Sarah wasn't scared of him at all. She curled her lips mockingly.
"If it isn't Mr. Bridges. Spent so long in the entertainment industry you've gone soft? Getting all up in women's arguments - if Mr. Bridges has that kind of hobby, say so earlier. I'll pay for Mr. Bridges to get a sex change."
"Sarah!" Alton clenched his fist, his face vicious.
Scarlett was worried Sarah would get hurt. She broke free from Daniel and pulled Sarah to her side, asking, "You two know each other?"
Sarah laughed coldly. "Not really. It's just on set I..."
"Damn woman, say one more word and see what happens!" Alton's face suddenly turned dark.
Sarah pouted. "If you don't want me to talk, then shut up! Otherwise I'll spread it around real good."
"You just wait!" Alton said through gritted teeth.
But whatever had happened between him and Sarah, he actually did shut up.
At this moment, Daniel ordered Chris, "Clear the room."
Seeing the situation couldn't be easily resolved, Chris had people come in and escort everyone unrelated out.
The room quieted down. Daniel looked at Scarlett.
"What's going on? Explain clearly before taking action."
Scarlett laughed coldly. "Today at the hotel, Alice put sleeping pills in my water and made me sleep all afternoon."
Daniel's deep eyes focused on her. "Why would she do that?"
Scarlett pressed her lips together. She didn't want to tell Daniel about her dance audition.
Daniel looked at Scarlett. Seeing that even now she was still hiding things from him, the coldness in Daniel's eyes deepened another degree.
"Why Alice did it, you should ask her!" Sarah cut in.
Alice would never admit it. With tears in her eyes, she said, "Scarlett, why would I give you sleeping pills? What good does making you sleep all afternoon do me?"
Scarlett clenched her fists, staring at Daniel. "I got drugged after drinking from my thermos. The only people who know about this habit of mine are Alice and you. If it wasn't her, then it was you!"
Anger flared in Daniel's icy eyes.
"Scarlett, now you're suspecting me too?"
Scarlett's heart ached terribly, but she laughed mockingly.
"I'm just being reasonably suspicious, just like four years ago when you suspected I drugged you."
Why was it only okay for him to suspect her of drugging, but she couldn't suspect him?
"Very good!"
Daniel's face grew even darker.
Scarlett wasn't afraid of him. She insisted, "Move aside! Alice must drink this water today!"
Daniel couldn't possibly let anything happen to the child in Alice's belly.
His figure was steady as he stood there without moving, but his gaze fell on the bottle of water in Scarlett's hand.
"What's in it?"
Scarlett laughed coldly, standing on her toes to lean close to Daniel's ear. "Don't worry, it won't poison her to death, and it definitely won't poison the precious baby in her belly!"
Scarlett's voice was soft but icy cold. As she leaned in, a familiar fresh scent of gardenias wafted over, her breath brushing past Daniel's ear.
Daniel's composure wavered uncontrollably. As Scarlett pulled back, Daniel raised his hand and gripped Scarlett's wrist again.
Under his palm, Scarlett's wrist bone was delicate, her skin's warmth and smoothness making emotions surge in his eyes. Inappropriately, some intimate scenes flashed through his mind.
He had clearly decided in his heart to let her go, but his body craved her even more.
Unable to resist even the slightest temptation, Daniel's Adam's apple bobbed slightly. He lowered his head and spoke into Scarlett's ear too.
"If you want to vent, slap her a few more times. But she can't drink the sleeping pills - it will harm the child."
This was him backing down.
Scarlett was somewhat surprised that he would let her slap Alice.
But Scarlett didn't appreciate it at all. Instead, she felt even more heartbroken.
This also proved that Daniel knew perfectly well it was Alice who drugged her.
He cared so much about the baby in Alice's belly, but what about her baby? Wasn't he afraid the drugs might affect it?
Thinking about what she'd found out - that sleeping pills during pregnancy could possibly affect the baby's nervous system development.
Scarlett's heart felt like it was being cut by knives. Only making Alice suffer the same treatment could ease her anger.
Scarlett yanked her hand away, stepped back two paces, and stared coldly at Daniel.
"I won't hit her. I just want an eye for an eye! Not one bit more - I wouldn't stoop to it! Will you move or not!"
Daniel's handsome face was cold and dark. He hadn't expected Scarlett to be this stubborn.
Scarlett had already slapped Alice twice. He'd said she could slap Alice a few more times to vent, and it would be fine. Yet Scarlett still had to be so aggressive.
Daniel frowned. "Scarlett, why do you have to go after an innocent child! That's enough!"
Scarlett looked at Daniel protecting Alice in front of him, blaming her, and just found it laughable.
Scarlett's eyes instantly burned red, as if bleeding, as she said word by word:
"Daniel, don't make me hate you!"
Scarlett's clear, transparent eyes, as they looked at Daniel, were染上 with intense hatred for the first time.
She stood there in a posture of breaking with him completely.
Her gaze was like a knife, stabbing straight toward the softest part of Daniel's chest.
Daniel's expression changed slightly, his face looking worse.
He was silent for a moment, unable to suppress the strange fear in his heart. When he spoke again, Daniel's voice was hoarse.
"I'll decide - you can slap her five more times."
Alice, carrying a child, even felt a bit smug.
Daniel would never let anything happen to the child in Alice's belly. Plus, Scarlett had no evidence. Making such a scene would only result in the couple turning against each other, making herself more embarrassed and earning Daniel's disgust - there was no benefit at all.
Only an idiot like Scarlett would be so reckless. But just as Alice was feeling pleased, she heard Daniel's words.
Alice's eyes widened in disbelief. "Daniel! Why? I don't want to be slapped. I didn't do anything! Scarlett's falsely accusing me. I won't! This isn't fair to me!"
Alice tried to grab Daniel's sleeve, but Daniel suddenly turned around and shouted sternly.
"Shut up!"
