Chapter 164 He Deceived Her Again
Scarlett blinked. She realized Daniel was really cunning.
He didn't directly bring up canceling the divorce, but somehow he'd led her right into his trap without her noticing.
How could he do this!
She puffed out her cheeks. "In your dreams! You've done plenty of things to upset me. I'm only deciding to stay temporarily because of Bunny, and because your injury is somewhat related to me!
I'm not that easy to win over. Right now, you're just a probationary husband at best!"
"Probationary husband?" Daniel raised an eyebrow.
Scarlett nodded. "Don't you get it? Just like the interns at the Star Group. The probation period is less than a month. If your performance passes, I'll consider it then. But if your performance during probation doesn't satisfy me, Mr. Wilson should know the procedure very well, right?"
Daniel fell silent.
Seeing his silence, Scarlett narrowed her eyes. "Do you have a problem with that?"
Daniel clicked his tongue. "Then may I ask Mrs. Wilson, what are the probation guidelines? What requirements do I need to meet to pass the probation period? After all, this is my first time being a probationer. Please guide me?"
His eyes were deep yet seemed to contain playful amusement, as if indulging her antics.
Scarlett's heart fluttered slightly, unable to help feeling sweet inside.
Her cheeks flushed slightly as she held up one finger. "The probation guideline is simple - just one rule! Make me happy!"
Daniel nodded. "Since this is a probation, can I ask the boss to issue my offer letter?"
Scarlett froze.
"What offer letter?"
Daniel reached his right hand into his hospital gown pocket. A moment later, he extended his hand and opened his palm.
In his palm lay a men's diamond ring.
It was their wedding ring.
Scarlett's gaze fixed on the ring, her mouth slightly open in surprise, a bittersweet feeling rising in her chest.
She looked up at him. "Didn't you throw away the wedding ring?"
That day, in the car, he had clearly thrown the wedding ring out the car window right in front of her.
How could it still be here?
Daniel held the ring out to Scarlett. "I didn't throw it away."
So he'd fooled her again!
Did he know how much it hurt her to watch him throw away the wedding ring?
Scarlett's eyes grew warm, and she didn't move for a long time.
Daniel urged, "You wanted me to be a probationary husband. A probationary husband is still a husband - I can't be without an offer letter, right? Be good, put it on me."
Scarlett finally picked up the wedding ring, took his hand, and slipped the ring back on his finger.
Daniel looked at it with satisfaction for a moment. "Issuing an offer is a two-way choice. Your ring is at Regal Estate. You should wear it too when we get back."
Scarlett fell silent.
He was a qualified capitalist.
Just as she was at a loss for words, Daniel suddenly held her and rolled over.
He pressed her down onto the hospital bed.
Scarlett's head sank into the soft pillow, her long hair scattered in his large palm. Daniel's thin lips gently landed on her forehead, her brows and eyes, swept across the corner of her eye, the tip of her nose, and came to the edge of her red lips.
His breathing grew slightly heavier as he turned and ground against her lips, but didn't go deeper. Their breaths mingled, light and soft and slightly ticklish, making her nervous and expectant, yet her heart wouldn't stop racing like an itch she couldn't scratch.
Scarlett's eyelashes trembled lightly, then she heard him press his thin lips against her red lips and ask slowly with a smile.
"Boss, do you like being kissed like this? Does this make you happy?"
Scarlett felt like she was forcing her own intern.
She didn't know he could play like this - they'd never flirted this way before.
At this moment, Scarlett admitted she was naive and inexperienced. She simply couldn't withstand his teasing. She felt her heart was like melted cream, so sweet.
Her eyes grew moist, too shy to speak. She just raised her hand to wrap around Daniel's neck, tilted her head slightly and parted her lips, silently inviting him.
Daniel's breathing instantly became ragged. His large palm clasping the back of Scarlett's head tightened slightly as he slowly went deeper.
The next evening.
Scarlett personally prepared two dinners and came to the hospital.
She first went to check on Elliot and opened the fun dinner she'd prepared for him.
There were dumplings shaped like little yellow ducks, rice shaped like little rabbits covered with a blanket made of tomato and egg, quail eggs and cherry tomatoes made into little mushrooms, and rice balls shaped like little watermelons...
"This is so delicious! Scarlett, you're so talented and skillful. I'm not just saying this, but Daniel really doesn't deserve you!
As a man, besides having money and looks, he really has nothing else going for him. So good! I love Scarlett the most."
Elliot ate big mouthfuls while not forgetting to say some bad things about Daniel.
Who told Daniel to always make Scarlett sad?
Scarlett took a napkin and wiped the soup from the corner of Elliot's mouth, shaking her head with amusement.
As a man, having money and looks was enough to make women flock to him.
She really didn't know if Elliot was criticizing Daniel or praising him.
She stood up. "You eat slowly. I won't keep you company."
Elliot pouted. "Go on, go on."
Scarlett ruffled his hair and walked out.
She reached the doorway and had just turned around when she unexpectedly bumped into Blair walking over.
Scarlett's steps paused slightly, and she just nodded at Blair.
She had previously promised Blair she would divorce cleanly and leave. Now she was slapping herself in the face, so Blair must have plenty of thoughts and dissatisfaction.
Scarlett didn't want to ask for trouble.
She had almost walked past Blair when Blair spoke up with displeasure.
"What? Now that you're pregnant with the Wilson family's child, even your mouth has become too precious? When you see me, you don't even know how to greet me?"
Scarlett had to stop. It wasn't that she didn't know how to greet her - she just didn't know how to address Blair for a moment.
"I thought you probably didn't want me to call you Mom anymore..."
Scarlett thought that given Blair's nasty personality, she would definitely mock her coldly.
But who knew Blair would just frown, then say.
"Since you're pregnant with Daniel's child and have decided to live properly together, naturally I'm still your mother. If you can call me Mom, I can answer to it."
Scarlett pressed her lips together. In the end, not wanting to make the relationship too bad, she spoke.
"Mom."
Blair nodded. "Now that you have a child, just take good care of the child. Take care of yourself and give birth to the baby early - that's the most important thing for Elliot! You don't need to do anything else. What if something happens to the baby?"
For Blair, saying these things was considered rare gentleness.
But Scarlett felt extremely uncomfortable hearing it.
Scarlett frowned slightly. "Bunny is Daniel's and my child. Of course I'll take good care of it, but I'll still do what I want to do! I know what I should and shouldn't do. I don't need you to worry so much."
Scarlett nodded and walked away.
Blair's expression wasn't good. She turned back and looked at Scarlett's departing figure with displeasure.
"Her words are getting more and more unpleasant!"
Orla advised, "Mrs. Blair Wilson, the umbilical cord blood from Mrs. Scarlett Wilson's baby will definitely be able to save Mr. Elliot Wilson. God arranged for Mrs. Scarlett Wilson to get pregnant at this time - there must be a reason. Please don't worry."
Only then did Blair suppress her temper and instructed.
"Remember to ask the doctor later what she should eat during pregnancy to help the umbilical cord and placenta grow. Don't let there be too little cord blood when the time comes!"
In Blair's words, she clearly treated the baby in Scarlett's belly as a blood bag, without much warmth.
Orla quickly nodded. "Yes, Mrs. Wilson."
Scarlett carried the food container to the elevator, but it took forever to come up. Since Daniel's room was downstairs, Scarlett simply walked toward the stairwell.
She pushed open the door and hadn't taken two steps when she heard two people smoking and chatting in the stairwell.
"Didn't Ray go on a date during his vacation the other day? How did it go?"
"No luck. How could Ray be interested in ordinary women?"
"True. If Ray hadn't been on vacation, could Mr. Wilson have been easily injured by Wren?"
"The whole thing is suspicious. Wren had been following Mr. Wilson for many days before making a move, but Ray just happened to be on vacation when he struck. Mr. Wilson's skills are even better than Ray's. Even without Ray there, Wren shouldn't have been able to hurt Mr. Wilson."
